You can really see the 40k influence - ruinous powers, space marines, ecclesiarchy, chaos marines, and many more. However,the cleverest bit is making the pious unable to approach Jerusalem. That’s a stroke of genius as that gives them room to tell tales but keep the status quo. The world can change around them but the seat of power remains. Very clever.

As someone who likes Warhammer, same. I may bite my tongue, but I feel like this setting will actually advance and not stay on a stale mate for over 40 years. And, even though the Pilgrims and Heretics are the main selling points, the thought of what other factions could be is just awesome. I can imagine they doing two factions based on the Mongolian Empire, as if it started a eternal Civil War when the Hell Gates opened and now they are divided between the few remaining humans and the forces corrupted by Hell. Or Japan, either being a Steampunk shogunate battling against Leviathan's forces, or an island ruled by yokais. There's also the indigenous population of the American continent, which I imagine had to evolve technologically in order to not get corrupted by Leviathan or other Hell Prince that's commanding the American invasion And we didn't even talk about the Jewish side of the abrahamic religions. Could you imagine a faction of nomads who fight summoning golems and such?

@ not sure what the first half of your comment is trying to say, but as to how they are similar I would argue plot points such as the meta Christ remind of Lilith and Adam from neon genesis. And claymore came specifically from the nuns of the third meta Christ. Stygmatic nuns or something like that, similar art to claymore. Death korps doesn’t need explaining XD

And for movies that is just take you pick of classic horror from the slower mental and crazy imagery stuff like the exorcist to the more action gore stuff like evil dead. But the things you mentioned are just part of style or an aesthetic. and can be swapped out with anything like say 'raised by wolves' from ridley scott meets the evil dead franchise in game of thrones. but even then it is missing the mark and that is just my limited western knowledge. But the point is that all of these things are just aesthetically similar and really you can just say it is a world of 'medieval sword and shield mixed with WW1 weaponry trench warfare in the Biblical Armageddon including holy miracles to demons and all of catholic mysticism'. If anything this is just like Warhammer 40k in general with a new skin (which I am 100% cool with and makes the whole thing more interesting to me), but it is just about unabashed hopeless forever war conflict against an abstract faceless evil. this is not really a narrative it is more like a collection of narratives of varying factuality. It doesn't have plot points or really an ending in the way traditional narratives do or will. individuals in this world may experience stories that are universal. but neon genesis or claymore are just normal traditional stories, and they may meander but they do have a beginning, middle and end(or end they are driving to) with protagonists that act like the chosen ones of the universe or at least the main driver of events.
I could imagine this being some lost human colony outside of the astronomicon’s light in the segmentum obscura, scrappin with the khornites for eternity in a stalemate. Like a human on chaos version of krieg.
I love the voice narration! The narrator's vocal tone reminds me of Toby Longworth's sonorous voice acting and narration on some of the best Warhammer 40k audiobooks (Eisenhorn, Ravenor, etc). Well done!

The reason I think this is more dark than wh40k is just the absolute hopelessness of it all. In 40k, there’s a fraction of a chance you will survive. In this? You will ALWAYS be cannon fodder. But both 40k and TC are insanely grim for everyone

As 40K was itself a sci fi retelling of Crusades and the Church, this develops those elements in their original, Terrestrial setting and is infused with all the lore the Christian church contains. "Reality", in the sense of actual Church lore, is better than sci fi in this case.
I'm... puzzled by the Black Grale, notably the fact that it can affect all insects and make them vectors. If that's true it would take a few months or maybe a year for humanity to be wiped out~

As 40K was itself a sci fi retelling of Crusades and the Church, this develops those elements in their original, Terrestrial setting and is infused with all the lore the Christian church contains. "Reality", in the sense of actual Church lore, is better than sci fi in this case.

Well in this setting, atheism is literally impossible, since you have visible signs and stuff that indicates a deity. Although, there could be Antitheists, which would fight hell and the crusade. Imho even more intresting.
@ think of the kind of fun you could have making a faction like that in this scenario! A world where everywhere you look there’s god and demons yet they don’t believe in any of it.
@majormetcalf1225 it's just semantically incorrext. You don't have to believe in something you can experience, hence they wouldn't be atheists, since they don't do not believe. They would be antitheists in opposition to a relogious movement. Also in this case, it isn't really a religion, it's more like politics with more cultural background,...

I set up part one and two on a playlist and I did listen to it all as I fell asleep and slept….i DO NOT RECOMMEND. The nightmares were insanely intense. Stick to rain sounds or something.
