I was honored to be on his aircrew that flew him all over the Middle East. A great man, a great hero. I used to call his wife Brenda Mom cause she treated us aircrew members like we were her own children. Rest in Peace General and God Bless.
Thanx General, for taking care of your troops, including a close 19 yr old friend of mine, Carla Ramsey of the 24th infantry Div. Your contribution is indescribable. Salute sir.
Served under the General during Desert Storm/Shield. Everyone loved him. Never heard anyone say anything bad about him. HE LOVED SOLDIERS! More than anything. You felt that from him to. RIP General.
I had to replay a couple of times when the little guy returned back with a snappy salute. Amazing kid! I am assuming he is the grandson of Gen. Schwarzkopf and I'm sure the great General was smiling and beaming with pride.
Someone once said, "Don't try to be a great man--just be a man. Let history make its own judgment." Norman Schwarzkopf was certainly a good man--his greatness was just icing on the cake. Farewell, gallant warrior--you will be missed.
I was part of the coallition that lead our country to victory during the first Gulf War....and Proud of it! A Naval Aviation Airman out of Carolina, P. R. I've Served to my Country for 20 years in The U.S. Navy, MY Respect to a Great Leader....
I was one of the lucky few who had the distinct pleasure of rendering him a hand salute, shaking his hand and then having him sign his book...one of my treasured possessions...
I arrived at FT Lewis Wa in March of 1978 and was assigned to HHC 2nd BN 39TH Infantry, 1st Brigade known as the " Recondo Brigade " and Col. Swartzkopk was my Brigade cmdr. Shortly thereafter he was promoted to Brigadier General, and there was a Bgde formation/ parade to welcome the new Bgde cmdr and Swarzkopf would go become a 4 star Gen. I was apart of my BN color guard detail at that event. I'm proud to served under him, he was the type of man that was well liked and RESPECTED by ALL.
So did millions of civilian Americans. He was clearly a soldiers soldier. And I personally loved how he insulted Sadam in any press updates he spoke in. There is no doubt he was flipping him the bird.
When the question gets asked who in history would like to sit on a park bench and have a long chat with? For me, it’s Norman Schwarzkopf every time. RIP General.
After having served in the United States Navy and United States Air Force Reserves for twenty two years... Gen Schwarzkopf, Jr, was my hero and the one I tried to emulate in my military career. I will miss him deeply... David S. Wood, Col. D.C. USAFR (Ret.)
The man new history, strategy and tactics. He was given a job to do and he did it better than anticipated by most. And he stayed out of politics. Thank you for your service sir.
1:48 Normans Grandson returns the salute......Beautiful!! I served under General Schwarzkopf at CENTCOM at MacDill AFB. You could always feel his presence in a room or on an Aircraft. The best General America may have ever had.
I was a relatively young veteran of the Angolan War during Desert Shield & followed the campaign with keen interest & more than a little nostalgia. I was initially impressed by the the political insight & military strategy of the preparation of the operation, & subsequently by the strategic & tactical leadership & execution by all involved, down to the last soldier of all nations, ranks & races. General Schwartzkop was an officer & general of the highest order & this ageing mechanized infantryman salutes him.
He lead his men from the front ranks and understood, first hand, the struggles of the American soldier in combat. A selfless, true-blue, bona-fide American hero. As are all the men and women who’ve sacrificed life, limb, and time that could’ve otherwise been spent with family to defend the United States and nations beyond in the name of freedom, human rights, and liberty.
Proud to have served under this Great General during operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm 1990/91, as a US Sailor aboard USS Saratoga (CV-60), He was the right General at the right time.
It was an honor to serve under him. A soldier's soldier that put his men first in all things. The reason Desert Storm was so short was because he refused to accept the politicians' suggestions/demands and made sure an overwhelming force ended the conflict as quickly as possible. He saved so many lives. Rest in Peace General!
Max it was an honor seeing you salute when the officer gave your grandmother the flag. Love and hugs to your mom and family. Sincerely Michelle (Rardin) Skinner.
Who are the assholes who gave thumbs down???!!! Russian Trolls??? This MAN served this country with honor &valor and instilled it in everyone around him. May he rest in peace. May his family be blessed & comforted. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
Our leader during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Rest in peace General, you led us to victory. You are remember by those us under your command.
Does anyone know what he thought of OIF and OEF? I've googled trying to find something but only one article acouple months after 9/11 is all I was ever able to find of his thoughts on that. Very interested to know if anyone might know where to find anything about this
I never met him, but I served under his command during Desert Storm. Your troops sure loved you, General. Rest in Peace.

That's rhetorical nonsense...... who said that?
He took over my battalion long after I finished my tour in 'Nam. From what I've read, he shaped up the unit -- badly needed when I left in June '69.
I served under this great General one day I must visit his grave and pay my respects

Imagine that man being your grandpa. Thank you for tour service to this country.
United States Marine Corps, Desert Storm 1991, he was our boss...and we loved him.

Quelle chance d’avoir une personne comme Norman dans sa famille ...
Quelle chance? Celle d'un boucher qui a massacré des milliers de soldats Irakiens en fuite sur l'autoroute du carnage?
One of the greatest generals
