  • In this Sydney Metro update video, I start with the latest changes at Waterloo Station, including the new station name signs, the canopies and the finished services building.
It's then to Central Station for a peek at the new Metro platforms below, and then an update on platforms 13 and 14 which now have new rails and sleepers. I also give you an update on the Randle Lane entrance.
At Gadigal Station, I'll show you how the Bathurst Street and Park Street entrance exits are progressing, and include some Sydney Metro clips of what is happening below.
I skip Martin Place Metro as I covered this as a separate video - • Martin Place Metro Sta... , but I do mention the community open day that will be happening at this station on Sunday 5 May. Here is a link to this event. www.eventbrite.com.au/e/commu....
For Barangaroo Station, I give a brief update on the plaza and work happening alongside Hickson Road, and then show you Harry Lawson Reserve at McMahons Point. This is where a tunnel access shaft used to be.
After a brief update on Victoria Cross Station, I head to Crows Nest Station, which has changed quite a lot. You'll see the public art and great views of the lifts and escalators.
I wrap up by showing you the completed Northern Dive Services Facility that is on part of the Chatswood Dive Site construction area. And there is a new shared path connecting Mowbray Road with Nelson Street too.

    Accuracy
I do my best to make the commentary in these videos as accurate as possible by checking facts on the internet and other sources. However, sometimes the information isn't available, so I'll use my railway knowledge and insight to explain something to the best of my ability. If accuracy is important, do check the comments, as other viewers will often pick up on things I've missed or any mistakes made. Also note that for older videos, things may change over time, causing some of the information to become out of date.
Construction Sites, Maintenance Facilities and other Private Property
All footage of construction sites, maintenance facilities and other private property is taken from a public vantage point. The only exception is if it's an open day or I have special permission to access the site. The iPhone's small lens and zoom function makes it easier to film through small gaps in hoardings or fencing, so it may look like I'm on site when I'm not! If you would like to know the exact filming location, then ask me in the comments.

Hi Paul! Thanks for another amazing update video. Love seeing how the Metro is coming along. Something I think might help viewers of the videos in future is if you were to put a Date stamp in the top corner while you're showing footage of sites and stations, that way you don't constantly have to say when you took the footage (and the audience doesn't have to try and remember which images were from which days). Cheers!

Hi Paul, thanks for the interesting video. I think I like the Randle Lane Central Station entrance the best. The gate there looks almost like a royal entrance. Having a railway station in Crows Nest should bring the area back to how it was when the trams used to go there. It becomes more centralised with the Metro, as it would have been when the trams went here. I think the place was almost forgotten about when it was only served by buses. Anyway, take care. The Crows Nest Metro Station is about 500 metres or so from St Leonard’s Station if you walked along the Pacific Highway.

I wonder why metro did not start from South West, the furthest suburb with potential growth and expansion. These metro areas take 30min while South Western Sydney has to suffer 1h30 each way and forever on the bottom of the list for development.

    • @fittipaldi7326
      @fittipaldi7326 2 місяці тому +2

Ultimately they will come .. but the The Hills District had no heavy rail until the North West Metro was opened in 2019.
Before the M2 opened in the late 90s it also took 90 minutes to get the city from areas like Baulkham Hills and Castle Hills as you had to get a bus into Parramatta then a train to the city.
If you can get Sydenham from the south west you will be able to save time on the Metro.

    • @fittipaldi7326

Also the North West is a Liberal stronghold and the conservative governments were keen for the driverless non unionised trains.

    Another great video!
Is it my eyes or is the new Crows Nest Metro Station the ugliest brown brick building out of all the other new metro stations? I love the canopies, the glass panels when lit up but the building itself looks really ugly! Was it designed to be made from recycled materials or to blend in more to any surrounding buildings in Crows Nest? I need to go for a visit for a closer look one day as it's not far from where I live.
Thanks for the next community day link . I missed the last one at Victoria Cross as I didn't know about it.

I believe it was designed to blend in with the surrounding buildings, but it isn't to everyone's taste. Definitely worth taking a look. Go on a Sunday if you want to peer through the hoardings to see how it looks inside, as there's often no construction activity on Sundays. Look forward to seeing you at the Martin Place open day.

A lot of the shop front at Cross Nest have a similar brown brick design.
The Crows Nest Metro Station frontage and connecting developments is quite significant. I can see it really becoming an Eat Street style of place with the 2 train stations and high residential density nearby.
The artwork at the entrance of the Metro station is quite colourful and it provide a kind of juxtaposition to the exterior brickwork. I reckon it will look great.

Sydenham to Bankstown is still open not for a few months. The Buses with more Bus Drivers are Helpful. SW1 All Stops from Sydenham to Bankstown. SW2, Express between Sydenham and Belmore and All Stops Between Belmore and Bankstown. My Mums Friend will love it. And SW3, Express Sydenham to Campsie and Canterbury. That is Great. We need more Bus Drivers. We need to Tap on and Tap off to get more Bus Drivers. The Lines will Change. The T3 will run from the City to Liverpool Via Regents Park. I don't want T2 via Regents Park Because it is the Most Complicated Line regards to Express Services. Between Bankstown and Lidcombe will be the Return of the T6. The T6 will be the Bankstown Line and the T3 will be the Inner West and Regents Park Line. We will make Sydney Better. More Devolopments. TOD. And we will Block NIMBYS And we will Join Sydney YIMBY. I'm So Excited for the T6 To Return in 4 Years.

😄Hi Paul, Good day from Lismore, NSW. I will be in Sydney in February 2025 with two Cybertrucks and a team of six people. We will travel to the new station. Is there any beyond Chatwood? If there is, it will make the day of the new stations on the Hornby Line.
We will travel around Australia on a CYBERTRUCK for six months starting at the end of September 2024. I will give myself until the end of April 2024 to assemble a team to travel with me. I will travel a total of 22,000k. We are looking for six team members to accompany me around Australia. We will take a camera and sound team to record all events.
I am a PROJECT MANGERS and CIVIL ENGINEER who worked as an engineer in Singapore. From 1999 to 2005, we designed and built twelve-kilometre tunnels with two boring tunnel machines and five stations. I also managed 160 engineers and architects.

I am from and live in Melbourne. This is a blog about the Sydney Metro and you state this eff witted nonsense. Truly pathetic.
Their new Western suburbs will have a modern efficient, frequent Metro system whilst ours have to rely on V/Line operated by some of the most old broken down trains in peak, and some suburbs do not even have a frequent bus service. They will have a frequent metro to their second airport whilst we are still farting around with our rail project and we cannot even provide a decent frequent PTV bus service from Sunshine.
I will say it to you and I will say it to other Melburnians who have a chip on their shoulder. Their Rail network is FAR, FAR, FAR superior to ours. Our rail network sux.

I go past St Leonard and Crows Nest station everyday on the 602x or 612x bus from the North West to North Sydney.
It is a really quick service from North Rocks on the M2 but can be a nightmare if there is an accident like the recent mobile crane fire in the Lane Cove Tunnel.
When the metro open it will take 27 minutes from Castle Hill to the new Victoria Cross station. Now I just need to work out whether I park at Showground or use the scooter 🛴 and go to Castle Hill.
