Kate Bush - Ne t'enfuis pas
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 чер 2008
- Kate recorded this song in 1982 and released it as a single in 1983 in France and Canada. The b-side was "Un baiser d'enfant", the French version of "The Infant Kiss".
French lyrics:
Je viens
Comme un chat
Par la nuit si noire.
Tu attends,
Et je tombe
Dans tes ailes blanches, la-la-la...
Et je vole,
Et je coule
Comme une plume.
Si les grands yeux de mon Dieu
Ne me gardaient pas,
Je te volerais
Ne t'enfuis pas!
Tu as des ailes,
Le pouvoir de me quitter.
Tu es tombe
Du ciel comme un ange, la-la-la
Et j'ai peur
Que le ciel
Te reprenne.
Si les grands yeux de mon Dieu
Ne me gardaient pas,
Je te volerais.
Je viens
Comme un chat
Par la nuit si noire.
Je t'en prie,
Je t'en prie,
Je t'en prie,
Je t'en prie,
Je t'en prie,
Je t'en prie--
Ne t'enfuis
Pas!
English lyrics:
I am coming
Like a cat
Through the night so black.
You are waiting,
And I fall
Into your white wings, la-la-la...
And I fly,
And I sink
Like a feather.
If the great eyes of my God
Were not watching (over) me,
I would steal you away.
Don't fly away!
You have wings,
The power to leave me.
You fell
From the sky like an angel, la-la-la
And I'm afraid
That the sky
Will take you back.
If the great eyes of my God
Weren't watching (over) me,
I would steal you away.
I am coming
Like a cat
Through the night so black.
I beg you,
I beg you,
I beg you,
I beg you,
I beg you,
I beg you--
Don't fly
Away!
Oh, the joyful moment of falling in love with yet another Kate Bush song
KATE BUSH WHAT A WONDERFUL ARTIST BY THE WAY SHE IS VERY BEAUTIFUL....
Кейт - это Подарок Человечеству
“If the great eyes of my God didn’t hold me, I would steal you.” The implications of that lyric make Kate Bush great. Along with everything else, of course! ❤
kate bush is something else
always return. the last pas is gorgeous
Her music embraces me like a mothers hug.
Merci, Kate, de chanter pour nous en français. Your accent is so lovely. 😍
Elements of this song, remind me of "Watching You Without Me".
And Mother Stands for Comfort
This song is so good, so mysterious. I translated the lyrics and it's so beautiful! I wish it was longer.
Kate singing french is tooo much
too much
I can't escape
the most beautiful
Un bel hommage de la diva britannique à la langue française .Toujours aussi sensuelle .Merci Kate "flower."
This is one of my favourite Kate Bush songs. Mesmerising and beautiful.
Kate Bush singing in French - amazing mix!
J'adore💙🇲🇫
Can't believe after all these years of loving Kate that this is the first time I have ever heard this song. Like finding a little known Beatles song (Inner Light anyone? :) ) Lovely tune.Short tho!
Too short indeed. Oh but how perfect.

Dziękuje za tłumaczenie z języka Francuskiego
J'ai ce 45T et Kate à une voix à tomber par-terre.En Français comme en Anglais.Très charmant accent Anglais en Français.Je l'adore depuis son 1er album.
Dat bass.
So wonderfully distinctive.
Bru
Fret less
Sounds like Eberhard Weber
@FinalWish7
I remember the song when it was released in France and although it achieved a modest success, I heard it quite often. I was very young then and what I loved about the track is that I wasn't sure what she was saying and that most of the sentences could have two or three meanings depending on what I understood: "if the great eyes of my God were not keeping me, I would steal you away" became "if the great eyes of great Gods were not watching me, I would talk to you".
Kate Bush is everything
This song is so beautiful in french....
Une de ses plus belles chansons
Well, that is exquisite
This song is just so amazing. I had no idea what it's translation was but it just had something special about it.
Lyrics in English :
I come
Like a cat
Through the night so dark
You wait
And I fall
In your white wings, la-la-la...
And I fly
And I'm sinking
Like a feather
If the big eyes of my God
Didn't keep me
I will steal you
Don't run away
You have wings
The power to leave me
You fell from the sky
Like an angel
And I'm scared
Than the sky
Take you back
If the big eyes of my God
Didn't keep me
I will steal you
I come
Like a cat
Through the night so dark
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Please
Don't run away
Listening & viewing to many clips back to back has kept me in tears of bliss. Kate is simply indescribable in words. Her music, voice , style, and beauty are so captivating on so many levels.
OMG. My broken French worked with this song and let me understand like 80% of it without having to search for a translation hahaha
Kate Bush = Beautiful Creative Goddess. She never fails to move me. Thanks for posting. x
It's a shame this has never been released digitally.
i love her!
she is sooooo GOOD!
KATE BUSH 4 EVER!
@FinalWish7
So her French is quite good and I can understand most of the lyrics but I guess it must not be always easy for a native English speaker to understand all the lyrics sings in English. Her voice is very soft and haunting and fits perfectly the drums and the bass. I adore this track, the production is flawless.
Thanks for the lyrics..........
I'm french and i think that the way she speaks french is pretty ! edit : "sings", not "speaks"
andromisilibrober I am german.But I fully agree !
Très d'accord très pretty lol ;)
Ouais mais j'avoue qu'au début j'avais du mal a suivre.
@@michaelvaniseghem6478 Je t'en pris arrete tes conneries Kate!! ;-)
I'm Danish, and i also agree
Quelle belle surprise découvrir à Kate Bush en chantant en français. Je ne oublierai jamais la chance que j’ai eue quand j’ai trouvé le Box Set à la FNAC il y a plus de 10 années.
Как это красиво и чувственно... Kate
This is a Beautiful song, thank U 4 being U dear miss Kate Bush. 💜, always.
Yes, that's Del Palmer on bass. Oddly, the copy of the single that I have has "Dreamtime," a variation of "The Dreaming" as a B-side. Here are the credits from the single's sleeve:
Fretless bass, Linn Programming - Del Palmer
Vocals, Fairlight - Kate Bush
Engineer - Paul Hardiman
Lyrics - Kate Bush, Vivienne Chandler, Patrick Jeaneau
Que c'est beau ! Suddenly i m falling in love
this is a great b-side! thanks so much, i really love it..its somethin else.
elle est parfait :)
When she sings I rapture........but when she sings in French..I faint !!!!!!
sublime.
❤
Thanks so much! Never heard this one!
I love kate's song. Now, I hear this song. I've gladed this song.
Little master piece.
That's an odd one, stylistically speaking. It's was recorded around the time of much of The Dreaming, but it sounds more like it would fit better on Hounds of Love, and with all that the arrangement is like something from her first 3 albums.
I can hear The Dreaming in this!
I think the bass sounds very Hounds, but the Fairloght percussion, sampling and synthesis (bell sounds) are pure Dreaming terrain.
It originally came out on the back of There Goes A Tenner, her great "lost" single, off The Dreaming indeed.
Great post, thank you. The pics are terrific, especially the drawing of Kate with the cat - most appropriate for the song!
Je ne savais pas qu'elle avait fait des chansons en français ; celle-ci est sympa.

Ouh là là...
Kate você é sobrenatural
Oh lord .... she has the capability to be sensual, without crudity. I wish, I wish, that some of our current crop of popular artists could understand that. Miley Cyrus? Need I say more ?
Hell I was ten in '78 and thought she was a weird witch in the vid for Wuthering. I think this girl is a friggin genius who taught us all what real music is all about. Sadly that has all died now, swamped in commercialised, digitalised bull. Kate sung from the hi and lo of her heart. In Search of Peter Pan : )
While you are certainly right, the producers and record companies behind performers such as Miley Cyrus know that this current generation doesn't/can't/won't think for themselves so something sensual flies completely over their heads. Something subtle won't work on their minds. It must be in their face and spelled out in large letters for them to understand. They all grew up on videogames so they have very short attenion spans too. The lowest common denominator rules and teens are the ones buying the most merchandise so this is a target group they have to spoonfeed as much as they can for as long as they can for the best profit. Let's be perfectly honest here: there were some artists even during Kate Bush's early years who made their names from an overly sexual (read vulgar) image and that made them go far. No need to mention names.
Voight-Kampff Tester I don't really know what artists you mean, maybe Donna Summer? At least they all did REAL SONGS though...
In the gym , this morning, in the background- white noise, chart " music", tuneless, dance oriented supermarket dirge, autotuned females always hitting the same repetitive high note, and that stupid playground chant : " oh oh oh oh " or lame weak " rap". So bad it made me angry.
The lowest common denominator has taken over tv, media culture, music. Real emotion embarrasses these robots.
Voight-Kampff Tester As you already mentioned Kate's early performing years, I think back then the producers and record companies and the then young generation weren't that much different from now. Kate's innate talents had always went over many people's heads. My brother was a D.J. back then and he just hated her.
riccardobruero Then he doesn't belong on this comments section : )
It is the other way round. This was the B-side and Un baiser d'enfant was the A-side. It was the B-side of "there Goes a Tenner" and "Suspended in Gaffa" depending on locations.
No-- i think this was a French release only by 'Conifer' records. Baiser was never an A side. Tenner was the uk release and gaffa in Europe.
So beautiful and awesome. I just foundvthe english translation. So so cool
Super!
Catherine Buisson !
🤣🤣🤣👍
right from England man.
Ne t'enfuis pas= don't run away (from me)
Wonderful sublime quoi..
1st time hearing that song. Not sur if it's that good or not. Because I'm a BIIIIIG fan of here works : so it's always better than ever.
But to be honest, french prononciation aren't so good. But... I always agree about any artist who try to go farway from he's safety musical zone.
the late Benjamin Lo-Fi banged two small trophies together for part of the percussion track to this French fancy...although he doesn't use trophies on his own stuff...
Yes!
YES YES YES
@jon3m2007 As a French, I can't understand all the lyrics ! But indeed "don't fly away" is a good translation for it seems to be a meeting between a cat and a bird, guess who says "ne t'enfuis pas !" ...
@Symphonyofflowers Thankyou.
It sounds like Eberhard Weber to me ... that fretless thing he does so well.
Funnily enough thie was its own single and the B side for There goes a tenner, most copies suspeneded in gaffa, night of the swallow and some cipies of the dreaming
they tried to release it in the UK but EMi put a stop to it.
@wigginsdesign - Totally agree with you. Have you heard "Come closer to me babe"? First time I heard it I was in fits of tears for hours but just had to keep playing it, it's so beautiful and now one of my fave songs ever. Shes a rare soul, thank goodness for Kate Bush. x x
Love everything this woman does!!! Just wondering though... is this song understandable to a native speaker? How's her accent?
FinalWish7 Big brit accent (very pretty) but understandable.
Her french IS hard to understand but sound so good! If she had the right prononciation, i would Love her french voice so Much😍😍
Pop can't ever get any bigger!! :)
(Pat, Switzerland)
L'orchestration a un petit air d'Eric Serra. Amusant...
Ou ce serait peut-être certaines orchestrations d’Éric Serra qui se rapprochent de celles de Kate Bush.
Cette chanson date de 1983 et les premières musiques connues d’Éric Serra datent de 1985 avec le nullissime film Subway.
true dream beat :)
Beautiful song, sounds a lot like the french singer Mylène Farmer (check it out english-speaking pals)
Mon Confiture !
And b4 Angry of Bordeaux writes in...I know.
I had it ALL explained to me.
I agree with you andgodcreatedwoman,Kate singing in french:)KATE as I said before you never cease to amaze me just like a windmill regeneration infinity all natural, now that's what I have been trying to tell everyone:) YOU should check out "WAKING THE WITCH" by KATE BUSH a part sung in GERMAN:):):):):) CHIN CHIN CHENTE ANNI SALUTE:)!:)!:)
It's Kate Bush. There are no "B" sides.
Can anybody find a French chart listing with this single on it? I'm curious to know how well it did. July 1983, I believe.
9 12 according to wikipedia, it charted at number 30
there was a push to release it in the UK as a french single but EMI put a stop to it.
browse "matia bazar treno blu" and listen isn' t it weirdly reminding? the songs are from the same year
@2020vision100 it was Del Palmer. I have the single
this wasnt released officially in france- it was released illegally and EMi recalled it.
I cant believe how much I love this song . Is Mick Karn playing the bass?
2020vision100 I guess del palmer does...
ugh I want to buy this song and can't find it anywhere!
It's included in the box set
'This Woman's Work box set'
On google music it is on Remastered Part IV, you can buy it individually so do not have to buy the entire album if you do not want to..
Oh Tish. That's french!
Check out a UA-cam video called "Kate Bush Like a Feather". It's Ne t'enfuis pas set to a lovely solo dance, very fitting for this song...
there two versions of this song
@FinalWish7 Definitely understandable, though not perfect obviously. She must have worked for this.
Did she record anything else in french?
Radio silence
This is me shouting my answer into the distant past: she recorded a french version of the Infant Kiss which I think is called Baiser D’Enfant
Pour la basse, je dirais plutôt une des belles collaboration avec Eberhart Weber
@Symphonyofflowers don't run away.
the image at 1:18 what is it
+Leon Tarkshina It's a painting by Herb Leonhard. He has made several paintings illustrating Kate's songs.

She can sing in Irish as well!
You mean with an Irish accent ?
@@jandron94No she sang in Irish Gaelic, Mná na hEireann, translated as Women of Ireland.
It's a beautiful song and it's really amazing that she did, but I believe her mother was from County Longford in Ireland (which is so nice for me because I'm half Irish.)
@@victoriagonzalez5774 Ah yes Irish the official language of Ireland, English is for the English ;-)

Traduction française à corriger: " ne me regardait pas" , plutôt que " ne me gardait pas". Denis
You're right but she doesn't even have time to say "ne me" she just says "regardait pas".
