It’s included in her “This Woman’s Work” box set, but it costs a fortune now since it was released in 1990. It may also be available on some bootlegs maybe.
Oh, with a mind that renders everything sensitive, What chance do I have here? Put an end, put an end, Put an end to every dream. When you're near, I fear you, And I forget myself. But not this time. Not this time. Not this time, baby, Not this time. I don't know why I give in, but I do every time. And here I am wondering why I did it again. Too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, too-ree-ay's what I say To keep me going, To keep the shit away. I don't know what it is, But every time you're near, I fear you, And I forget myself. No, not this time, baby. Not this time, you won't. Not this time, darling. C'mon, we all sing: Too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, Too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, Too-ree-ay, too-ree-o, too-ree-ay, too-ree-o,
That is such an epically sombre opening. Even though it was written 7 or 8 years before The Red Shoes, I feel that this belongs as the closing song of The Red Shoes, after You're the One- because that album is supposed to be somewhat 'poppy' but it could use a bit more upbeatedness - and You Want Alchemy belongs as an extra track on Aerial.
I love this song so much, for me it's like a sequel to Big Sky ... strong drums, great background chorus. Especially the moment at around 2:30 when the song takes a short breath and then Kate's "Come on, we all sing" .... after that pure bliss
Yeah. Her vocal style in this song is also very reminiscent of The Big Sky and I see what you mean when you say it’s like a sequel to The Big Sky. I personally absolutely love this song and it’s one of my favorite b-sides from Kate.
At certain points it's almost like she's vomiting the lyrics out of her throat. I don't even mean that as a negative. Only Kate fucking Bush could dry-heave the lyrics of a song out and somehow make you feel like you've just witnessed a goddamn masterpiece unfold in your lap. Easily in my Kate Bush top 5.
Glad I bought the 45 despite having the album..."Not this time!" about giving in to someone else who is taking you for granted too often. And it is a saving grace. "Not this time you won't." Unusual yet poignant.
*Thank you* so much for this very High Quality audio upload. 🌟🌟🌟 It is as dear to me as any of Kate's. Not to be found anywhere (I just bought The Other Sides and hadn't checked, it's not there, my loss), except on the massive This Woman's Work - won't get that for just two songs I'm short of. Just not THAT crazy a fan.
I Love Not this Time and Under the Ivy,......................If I could write a b-side like this ( ha ha ) B-side my ass !! I would be Ralph Waldo Emerson !!!
I've got to find out if this "B-side" is available via digital download. I've got to have this song in my Kate catalog. A comment below is absolutely correct - Kate doesn't have B-sides. For anybody else this would be a career starter. I remember previous posts on other forums - does Kate make bad songs? No.
I don't think this song wouldn't have fit into Hounds of Love... Honestly it sounds more like it would've fit in with The Sensual World better than anything else.
Hounds of Love is a perfect 10. Even though 'The Big Sky' is on it. I suppose that song served a purpose between the uptempo Hounds of Love and sombre Mother Stands for Comfort.
@@reesemorgan2259 The Ninth wave is a perfect 9.5 . Hounds of love ( because of its title tracks, precisely ) is "barely" a 8. A 8 would be, of course, fantastic to 95% of composers. ;)
WTF? Why her Bsides looks so good and are just B sides? Andwhy she has five Bsides for Hounds of Love? I know that everybody love the ''Hounds of Love'' album, but i would love it more if Bsides weren't Bsides
@@christinekelley3620 Not This Time sounds like it would've fit right in on The Sensual World. Under the Ivy would've fit onto Hounds of Love better than any of her other albums but it still doesn't quite fit so I understand why it was just a B-side.
Don't be rude, It's just my advice but i really don't like "mother stand for comfort". This is The last Kate Bush song i would listen😅😅 And if all The hounds of love bside weren't b-sides, it would maybe be my favorite Kate Bush album
@@razrv3lc I get feelings of “The Red Shoes” from this, but it also fits the sound of “The Sensual World”. Under The Ivy sounds like something from “The Ninth Wave”, but it also doesn’t really fit at the same time.
It's Kate Bush. There are no "B" sides. Every song ever is a treasure.
I paid a fortune for This woman's work box set. I don't regret it. It is called addiction
I did the same!!!! There should be a Kate Bush Religion! I'd gladly worship at her alter.
Me too and that box set it's a rarity
NOT included on her remastered collection. ULTIMATE SHADE OF KATE! this song is perfection
Yes, I can believe this isn't included - it's my second-favourite of her b-sides after Under The Ivy.
Fortunately I have it on some (bootleg?) vinyl, double album called "Passing Through Air."
@@noheamike5036 That's where I found out about this song too.

Gees, this is a B-side?! This is A-side material in my book.
This woman is out of this world. I can never find the words to express how amazing she is. I just love her. Long live Queen Kate
I think it's great how kids are beggining to discover Kate Bush💙🔥

Yes! This song would work so well on The Red Shoes!!!
this should’ve been the final single for one of her eras. it makes me think of the ending of an 80s movie, it would’ve been a major hit
This is so beautiful I could cry. I know this is Hounds of Love era, but why does it give me The Red Shoes vibes?
This is like a foreshadowing of the sensual world

I remember I was soooo in love with this song but the record got broken and never found it again...It's a marvellous track
Kate at her raunchy best. Great harmonics and guitars. Probably my favourite Kate song. Poignant lyrics
Kate Bush is everything
I just love this. Should have been a single. So blessed to have Kate's music.
So many things I love about this track

I like this,well done Kate.

A shame it is not on the remasters.....

I love this song. It would have fit in so well with the rest of the Hounds of Love. Same with Under the Ivy. Too bad there wasn't enough room.
Für mich ist das einer besten Songs von Kate! Verstehe bis heute nicht wieso er in ihrer Diskografie untergeht?

It was the B-side to the 'The Big Sky' single from her Hounds of Love album. Almost no B-sides of Kate's on Spotify

If only she sang rocket man with this amount of passion, its the only time she ever disappointed.
Why she put 'Mother stands for comfort' on the record, and left out this AMAZING song, and Under the Ivy! Both definitely shouldn't have been B-sides.
Mother stands for comfort is great though..
Elliott Lauder It's hard to imagine either song working on the LP. Neither quite sound like Hounds of Love.
