  • Hitting a successful bunker shot in golf requires a specific technique to get the ball out of the sand and onto the green with accuracy and control. Here’s how to approach it:
Dig your feet in with a wide base (wider than shoulder width apart). Because this requires a full swing, we need stability in our lower body. This will also help you keep your lower body quiet.
Draw a line in the sand, straddle the line, and make swings trying to enter the sand on the line. If you hit behind the line CONSISTENTLY, it is ok. You have a consistent BOTTOM to your swing. You would then put the ball a couple of inches in front of where you can consistently enter the sand and splash it out.
    A few keys are:
    VERY soft hands and wrists
    A BIG SWING
Following through to get the sand OUT of the bunker. If the sand does not get out, the ball will most likely not get out
