I'm glad that so many people enjoyed this video! I love the sarcastic fake level ID's that get posted(like 420-69-OWO), but if you post a real level ID, I will delete it. You are literally the reason why I made this video to show you the CORRECT places to post your ID and I won't hesitate to delete a comment with an ID if it isn't obviously a joke/fake.

Holy cow, super crazy weird that Ceave Gaming uploaded a video that's about a very similar topic to my level about 3 hour after I uploaded this video! I hope nobody thinks I was copying him, he's awesome and all but I'd never do that. Hopefully you all enjoy my video AND his and that it helps you get your levels played and noticed more
I watched both and it helped me a lot. By the way, do you really see planes fly by with level codes on them? I’ve seen a “Vote for Trump” a while back but no level codes.
I thought the same haha. Keeping some things unspoken, dont help. The problem is the delay in new course section not name really, as there are many multiple regions/lingua Franca, and its very limiting if you set it to a specific region. It takes 1 play for the level to show in the endless mode. So get a friend to play, or share it on 1 of the many forums like reddit, and it goes up naturally after the code fades away. Also commenting, and saying nice things you like in a persons level helps a lot. Just don't comment your level code. Its against code of conduct, and gets in the way. The 6 i tried in the start were real levels, 2 were actually players.
Great advice and well said! Unfortunately (or fortunately) with the millions of new players coming to SMM2 it looks like level sharing etiquette needs to be relearned. It'll take a while but we'll get there, and this video will help!
The last piece of advice is so so true! If it's a good level, you may get lucky enough to have some of the viewers join in too and you'll have a host of ppl playing it at once and lowering you clear ra-I MEAN having a jolly good time ^^
This is why your channel is great. You could have said “hey come to one of my streams and I’ll play your level” but no you said to try other streamers. That’s a quality of a good UA-camr.
Haha funny bc I was inspired to make this video bc of my stream last Sunday where there were over 150 levels submitted and I felt bad for all the people I couldn't play a level for
I quit uploading because people would bully me on “your levels easy” or “this is trash get better ideas” you know it’s not the game that ruined my experience it’s the toxic kids who think if they bully there cool
There is a platformer maker game called Levelhead that has a really cool system for getting your level played. When a level is published it first goes to a thing called the marketing department where levels are sorted by the number of “Exposure Bucks” they have on them. You can collect EB from playing other people’s levels. You get more from playing levels that are still in the Marketing Department. You can then take the EB you’ve collected and add some to your own or other’s levels to bump them up the list. Once a level has been played by 100 different people, it is sent to the Tower, which is a level archive where you can search with filters. Once a level is in the Tower EB is irrelevant, and what matters more is the level’s “Spice” value, a value which is meant to describe how engaging and enjoyable a level is, and is determined by factors such as how long players of the level continue playing it, how many people have liked/favorited the level, etc. This allows levels to initially played by people in the marketing department, and then based on their experiences with the level, it is more or less likely to be found and played by people in the Tower, meaning the better levels will be played by more people
DO hop over to the New Courses tab and try some levels. In fact, if you're a level creator treat it like a level exchange and play at least one level every time you create a level. One of the primary reasons why new levels aren't getting played for a long time is because the new courses queue is very long and your course starts out being buried in the bottom. The more people play new levels, the faster levels will rise to the top and we'll probably see less people spamming the internet with level codes.
It’s not always our fault that the levels are not getting played The level selecting system is not that good if your levels has 0 clears it cannot be played in the endless challenge, but it can only be played in the new courses menu widths is flooded with levels and it will probably take 2 or more days to show up Ceave has uploaded a video explaining this in depth. Sorry for my bad English
Guess what, the !add command doesnt work for me. Ive tried it across hundreds of streams, the bots never listen to me and other (very kind) people have to add it for me
I have a few questions. 1. How do you *make* good levels? I am just bad at making and can't think of anything creative, let alone anything creative that I can DO. 2. Is there any way I can get noticed without just hopping onto streams? Is there any way I can attract follows so people are notified when my levels release? 3. *OMGZ CAN U PLAY MY LEVEL YOU-PEA-NUT*
The level exchange thread was what worked for me. I'd made 3 levels, and they werent getting any plays at all, even despite putting time into setting good titles and preview screenshots. Those things alone dont seem to work, due to the utter flood of STUFF that is the new levels tab. But I posted on that reddit topic, and a very short time later, the levels each got a couple of plays and likes. Once that happened, it was like opening a floodgate. The online algorithm or whatever suddenly noticed the things, and now, each time I go into the game, I can expect a bunch of notifications of more plays and likes. It seems that at least a couple of plays and a like or two are utterly required for your levels to start appearing in things like the endless challenge. Heck, I even got a couple of multiplayer VS runs on mine, says the info screen. And on top of all that, I found a few really good levels to play via that Reddit topic.... win-win, eh? What really bugs me though is, what about the people that dont necessarily have access to that? Some people might have bad internet, or a total lack of a PC, or even maybe a PC that's broken and has to wait to be fixed. How are they supposed to ever get plays? Or even something like kids who maybe make some good stuff, but have restrictions on internet use for safety reasons. It seems kinda unfair for those that cant touch Reddit for whatever reason.... I hope Nintendo comes up with something to make this whole process easier. On the other hand... I kinda understand WHY it's like this. In the first game, the 100 Mario Challenge modes were freaking terrible. A bazillion super-awful levels, one after another. But playing the endless modes in this new game, I very, very rarely see a level that I'd consider to be bad.... it's been a fantastic experience so far (playing on both normal and expert). I end up giving likes to so very many of the levels I play in there. Direct opposite of the first game. And I'm assuming it's these play/like requirements that are causing this.
To add on to this, even the Super Expert runs I've seen so far don't really have too many terrible levels in SMM2. While in SMM1, you'd pretty much expect almost every level to be hot garbage. It's a better system but it's definitely discouraging for those who have no access to level exchange services and such.
What would fix this is a mode that just lets you play random levels with no likes, plays, or clears. This is better than the new section because it would get picked randomly, so even good levels that have a boring title and look boring could get played.
Aside from critiquing levels and suggesting improvements, I also take advantage of the Switch's portability and play other levels alongside the streamer to see if I can beat them first. It's a good way to pass the time and it can also help with feedback. In addition, if you have a stubborn streamer who absolutely insists on beating the tough level ahead of yours, you can provide advice or tips for tough sections, possibly getting your level played sooner without being annoying about it. :3

Haha which proves that I was typing in random codes. Some guy thought this video was an excuse for me to share my own level codes but none of my levels are in this video
My experience with live streams is everyone has a different method. Some use what I think is the best method, a google doc that randomizes the entries and gives you one entry per stream. Some do "post in chat" and some do ! followed by a word. You have to ask or read to find out who is doing what when. Some will ask for ALL your codes and will give one video per level. Next, submit a level that the streamer can do. Get to know that guy's skill level and how much time they will dedicate to your level. a long level might eat up too much time and not be finished. Next, Know that popularity matters. A popular lets player has way more submissions then an unpopular one. Finally I have a story. I went in to a stream and asked how to Submit. They guy said "hit ! Queue then type in the level code" I posted "!Q followed by the level code" then he said "not Q Queue Q.u.e.u.e" I said "What is a Queue?" He said "A Queue is a line" I asked "there are several keys on the keyboard that are "lines" which line are you calling a Queue because there is no Queue key" His response was "Sigh the internet" So I posted !_ !- !\ !| !` !~ !/ ![ !] !{ !} trying to find the exact LINE he wanted to follow the ! and he blocked me for spamming my code. So before you go in to the stream know the codes before you even experience your 1st stream no one wants to walk you threw the terminology. If you are a streamer get a google doc or a separate website like face book or twitter. or make a separate video just for codes.
for adding level to a queue, some streamers use discord or google forms instead and some use the chat but than it's mostly from superchat/donation/member levels the best ones are with the !add command or with discord. from chat or google forms it's totally random also maybe a good tip. try to make multiple levels with good/high quality so you get followers. when you have followers than a new level will be played within a day.
would someone call a phone number they found written on a phone booth ? no then why would they play a level that someone randomly dumped on a youtube comment , people really get a wrong idea , my first 1-2 levels already got plays , they arent even that good , but some probably found them in the new level section or something ( or got them in endless ) but really , your level needs to look appealing , if its just some random shit you have to advertise , who would play it
I AGREE with you 100% I Love playing viewers levels but if someone just "drops" their level int he chat with out even saying hi first of chatting a little i wont play their levels at all another thing thing is I wont play levels if the person who entered it is not in the chat when i get to that level. also the !ADD command no longer works for SMM2 because it has no bookmarks ... just FYI
Yeah that's tough but I think from my perspective and if someone is playing random I have no clue if they will even get to it so I wont watch the whole 3 hours of they might not even play it. So for that reason I will play if they arent in chat
What a good and helpful video, I hope everyone uses this. Edit: Thanks for a heart danny have a good day everyone no matter what, just believe in yourself!
i mean it's kind of hard to play others levels if u only create them, i don't play Mario maker for playing the levels i play to create the levels, the only levels i have played are some of the story ones until i got bored of it and a few of my friends because they were my friends, i dont like playing 2D Mario games but i love creating them
I want to use the add command for Bowser's Big Bean Burrito 2. EDIT: better yet, the upside-down version, or maybe even a Ceave-inspired mathematically unlikely (practically impossible) course.
Yo this is actually really helpful. I often stream myself playing other people's levels, do you know how to set up those chat commands? I wanted to set up something like that but couldn't figure out how
Check out warp world (warp.world/). Unfortunately most of the functionality only works with Mario Maker 1 (since MM2 doesn't have a bookmark site yet), but you can use the multi queue there instead; that's what most streamers I've seen have been using (like Paco in this video).
It doesn’t let me replay my old levels that I have made I don’t know if it is because I don’t have the online subscription or what if someone can help me I would really appreciate! Thanks!
Well, I may have been doing some things wrong in terms of getting people to play my levels. But at least I haven't been spamming my course ID anywhere. I was never THAT guy. I literally never even thought of doing that. It's nice to know that I have been doing at least one thing right.
You're one of the good people. I've deleted probably 50 comments on this video that has level IDs.. people literally don't understand what I'm trying to explain
Thanks a lot for the advice, before watching this video I had a couple of problems: My thumbnails didn’t look good, and I posted my levels on reddit. I’ll be sure to not make the same mistakes next time!
I’m making a 16 level long series, so sadly I can’t just add 16 levels to a queue and expect the streamer to play all of them. I’m planning to make a Reddit post explaining the game with some ingame screenshots when I’m done to raise some publicity for it
Thank you for making this video! I haven't created a reddit account but I followed the advice of looking for streamers with less views and using the !add command. Even learned a few things for next time in terms of level design when I saw some cheese. lol
Since day 1 the most annoying thing about watching streamers is the flood of "plz play my level", even after there is clear "here's the form to submit your level" posts from a bot in chat, a link to said form in an easily accessible location , and the streamer is taking time to constantly point out how to add your level. I just want to watch a stream and talk about level design without being buried under "plz play my level" spam for the love of Miyamoto!
It depends on the boos. It seems like the Endless players don't ever get the really popular levels because even with tons of heart they get tons of boos, so it seems to be levels that are middle of the pack. good number of hearts, but not a TON
Usually what I do is, I go into a small stream I submit my level into whatever queue or bot thing they have set up. I give them company, talk, and sometimes I would ask if anyone wants to exchange IDs in the chat. If I like the streamer, find them entertaining I would like and sub and visit them again to just watch or give them another level.

Queue then type in the level code"
I posted "!Q followed by the level code"
then he said "not Q Queue Q.u.e.u.e"
I said "What is a Queue?"
He said "A Queue is a line"
I asked "there are several keys on the keyboard that are "lines" which line are you calling a Queue because there is no Queue key"
His response was "Sigh the internet"
So I posted !_ !- !\ !| !` !~ !/ ![ !] !{ !} trying to find the exact LINE he wanted to follow the ! and he blocked me for spamming my code.
So before you go in to the stream know the codes before you even experience your 1st stream no one wants to walk you threw the terminology.
If you are a streamer get a google doc or a separate website like face book or twitter. or make a separate video just for codes.
*cough* *cough* jokes on you, I don’t have Nintendo switch online.
Great advice. You can also add that an interesting description in a course will get people to click on it.
Ok but, can you have levels with funny names? Such as, Bowser’s Freaking Castle?
for adding level to a queue, some streamers use discord or google forms instead and some use the chat but than it's mostly from superchat/donation/member levels
the best ones are with the !add command or with discord. from chat or google forms it's totally random
also maybe a good tip. try to make multiple levels with good/high quality so you get followers. when you have followers than a new level will be played within a day.
Yes but i have one question ...
CAN YOU PLAY MY LEVEL ! ABC-DEF-GHI
Totally omg yes I want to so baaaad!!!
I’ll play when I get home!
10 out of 10 not a ReFrEsHiNG sPesIle
I have 2 questions
Why do you record a video at 2am?
Mariomaker discort servers?
because I work on videos late at night usually
would someone call a phone number they found written on a phone booth ? no
then why would they play a level that someone randomly dumped on a youtube comment , people really get a wrong idea , my first 1-2 levels already got plays , they arent even that good , but some probably found them in the new level section or something ( or got them in endless )
but really , your level needs to look appealing , if its just some random shit you have to advertise , who would play it
I didn't even know the !add command was even a thing so thats pretty epic
Great response video to Ceave
lmao but I posted my video 3 hours before his ;)
I AGREE with you 100% I Love playing viewers levels but if someone just "drops" their level int he chat with out even saying hi first of chatting a little i wont play their levels at all another thing thing is I wont play levels if the person who entered it is not in the chat when i get to that level.
also the !ADD command no longer works for SMM2 because it has no bookmarks ...
Then we’re back where we started before we watched this video 😂
1) Find friends with a switch and exchange levels.
2) Like eachothers levels and get into the endless pool.
3) Get plays from the endless pool
Thank you for making this video! It really helped me and keep making great content dude!
glad to help!
Moral of the story
DONT DO WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES!
i mean it's kind of hard to play others levels if u only create them, i don't play Mario maker for playing the levels i play to create the levels, the only levels i have played are some of the story ones until i got bored of it and a few of my friends because they were my friends, i dont like playing 2D Mario games but i love creating them
“2 AM in the morning”
Hm yes, the floor here is made out of floor
More thoughtful videos like these are why I subscribed to your channel.
Thanks Jackdeath! I always want to provide helpful and entertaining content
Can you try using only spaces for course names? In your latest video, say the message out loud when you do this.
Really good video! Nice work Dan!
Thanks Guy!
Here is a good idea: put #DGR in the title or description.
I want to use the add command for Bowser's Big Bean Burrito 2.
EDIT: better yet, the upside-down version, or maybe even a Ceave-inspired mathematically unlikely (practically impossible) course.
I'm gonna play all the levels whose codes are in those video.
Why would someone play my level
real question: why would i make a level in first place
Thanks!
you need an active NSO subscription to play online levels, unless you had already downloaded the level to your switch
this isent even a method but when i upload a level and come back in a day i find out that people played my level and sometimes i get a heart
hear is my level id D-O-N-T L-I-T-T-E-R
What if on the exchange you only PLAY levels?
Haha well then you are a saint
DannyB Plays haha yeah lol
Well, I may have been doing some things wrong in terms of getting people to play my levels. But at least I haven't been spamming my course ID anywhere. I was never THAT guy. I literally never even thought of doing that. It's nice to know that I have been doing at least one thing right.
You're one of the good people. I've deleted probably 50 comments on this video that has level IDs.. people literally don't understand what I'm trying to explain
I made this really good kaizo lvl and its goten 6 plays how do i get more 😭
Is puzzles and pipes ok? That’s mine.
Now I know what people don't play K dawg's levels or mine !
Thanks a lot for the advice, before watching this video I had a couple of problems: My thumbnails didn’t look good, and I posted my levels on reddit. I’ll be sure to not make the same mistakes next time!
glad to help!
All my level titles are Rush song references.
We Will Call You 'Cygnus'
The God of Balance You Shall Be
Oracle: The Dream
Nobody:
Everyone who didn't watch:
PLAY MY LEVEL PLZ OH PLZ🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please can you play my level 3B9 TGX BLF
@@TheBeast-il2eo watch the vid😂
My friend keeps reporting my stuff on this game and I’m worried that he will get my Nintendo account taken down can someone help?
Here before 1K views. This is going to blow up. Thanks for the tips :D
I saw a level ID on Amazon
odyssey centeral was going to play my kaizo level and then the game glitch or Odyssey centeral was in the UK
I’m making a 16 level long series, so sadly I can’t just add 16 levels to a queue and expect the streamer to play all of them. I’m planning to make a Reddit post explaining the game with some ingame screenshots when I’m done to raise some publicity for it
I wish you the best!
Thank you for making this video! I haven't created a reddit account but I followed the advice of looking for streamers with less views and using the !add command. Even learned a few things for next time in terms of level design when I saw some cheese. lol
4:20 I never knew that!!!!!!!
glad I could help
Noice
me who doesn't have twitch: *sweats nervously*
1:08 The answer is obviously that the level is perfect.
Do you have a twitch
thank you!!! im trying to get the mii costume, i need 5000 plays. its difficult, but ill hopefully get there eventually
5:30. "2 A.M. in the morning"
That's very wrong xD
4:59 wait. Is that Smashy?
Since day 1 the most annoying thing about watching streamers is the flood of "plz play my level", even after there is clear "here's the form to submit your level" posts from a bot in chat, a link to said form in an easily accessible location , and the streamer is taking time to constantly point out how to add your level.
I just want to watch a stream and talk about level design without being buried under "plz play my level" spam for the love of Miyamoto!
When someone come to my stream without saying "hi" or something, but add the ID into the MM2 Bot in theyr first message, they recieve a direct ban!
Does your level show more often or get more often picked in endless if more people played it?
It depends on the boos. It seems like the Endless players don't ever get the really popular levels because even with tons of heart they get tons of boos, so it seems to be levels that are middle of the pack. good number of hearts, but not a TON
Thanks for the awnser! :)
Usually what I do is, I go into a small stream I submit my level into whatever queue or bot thing they have set up. I give them company, talk, and sometimes I would ask if anyone wants to exchange IDs in the chat. If I like the streamer, find them entertaining I would like and sub and visit them again to just watch or give them another level.
that's the right way to do it. Others will spam 50 streamers with level Ids and never watch the person play the level.. it's sad
Fake level ID: 2FSD0-ÀVẞ3G-29ÜSH
Reason it's fake: 15 characters, À ẞ Ü is not used in level ids
