Just to make this clear because this wasn't mentioned in the video, if you are going to play test using the multiplayer tactic, be aware that the level might not work correctly, because things might not spawn every time, things don't work how they do in single player, etc. You might also have some lag using this method which could be a bit hard to play a level, especially if it is hard in difficulty. So if this technique doesn't work. You could always upload the level by placing a dev exit somewhere, and the play tester could play your level without any problems. They can give you feedback and anything else they need to tell you about. When you take the level down to re-upload it, please don't include the dev exit. Thank you, and keep making!!

Easy/Normal levels are very good for plays, as people who are going for the 1000 endless clears will probably see your level. Dont make troll/kaizo levels, as those often get skipped in endless Super Expert. Music/Art levels get a lot of hearts. Do NOT make refreshing special levels, as they usually get more boos than hearts. If levels look nice, and are decently easy, people will most likely like them.If you’re going for the Wind Up Shoe (5000 Plays) or the Fried Chicken Headgear (7000 Maker Points) then generally you’ll want to make good looking levels with Normal difficulty.
I like how you said traditional levels are not popular material yet there’s a level named: 4-3 Fish Bone Reef

6:47 Yeah vines are good for decoration but just make sure it can’t be used to cheese your level or get in the way of other actions

I know u posted this comment ages ago but it’s a good idea to add functionality to the decorative vines because that encourages people to cheese without them actually cheesing. Or in other words, for the players to explore.

11:38 you could also go to the new level section and play a level there. The level will be replaced by your level.

I hate refreshing levels because they are mostly in the castle theme so when ever I try to look for a bowsers castle level, I find a seizure inducing crap fest!
I spent 3 1/2 hours making a level (a Kaizo) but then I forgot to save it and everything was lost
Really helpful video! I’m going to try my best to make better levels one day. Also, I hate refreshing levels.
Two things that I hate about refresing levels are:
1: Many of them require you to do violence to complete those levels such as by mowing down enemies with cars, invincibility stars, and etc.
2: No musical note blocks at all. And no, the special sound effects don't make up for the total lack of musical pink note blocks, even though special sounds and special effects don't normally bother me in theirselves.
Step 1: Be famous on YT.
Step 2 (if step 1 does not work): Make a refreshing level.

I would not write off doing traditional levels. They are a lot of work and you're an underdog for sure but you can still get thousands of plays with good ones. You do need some flavour for them to stand out though.
Yeah traditional levels can definitely make it far on the leaderboards, but it really just depends with the algorithm. Usually a traditional level will need some sort of advertisement to stay up there. If it has a creative gimmick that goes throughout the level that hasn't been done before, it could be leaderboard material. My only problem with traditional levels are most of them are exact same with a couple obstacles and enemies and not much creativity.
@@kylesmm4165 There's a world of difference between traditional levels even if they use the same parts. The pacing, engaging platforming, number of options presented to overcome challenges, immersive enviroments, flow etc. are all things separating good traditional levels from mediocre ones. That's where the level design lies, not in the choice of gimmicks.
@@Tingletonttu Very true, that is the formula to a lot of traditional levels I see, but most traditional levels have a certain challenge or gimmick that it is based around of, that can lead to different challenges within the same idea.

Well that's exactly what i do and i've been keeping up for months and i knew that i was doing it great but no, i was unlucky because my levels were protected from showing up to players. Is this the way how nintendo says “we don't like your course, it's has been setted hidden"?
my problem with this Refreshing levels are not if someone make one, but many creaters are making 10 or 20 Refreshing levels where is only the same again and again. similar as all this blue plattforms and chainsaw levels

I'm trying to get on the MP Weekly LB for the ribbons, I currently have 6 speedrun levels uploaded, is that enough or should I make more? I'm probably gonna delete all of my levels then reupload those 6 and advertise them a bunch, but i wanna know if i should make more of them because I might not be able to climb as much with just those
Ah I see, your trying to get on the MP Weekly! Well it really depends what position you are going for. If you want 1st to get the royal attire, I would probably make more than 6. Because for some reason, if you upload a lot of levels, you get a TON of maker points.

It's not fair! my levels follow most of your tips and never make into the hot list. but levels older than mine and with less plays and likes and not following your tips get on there. any explanation?
Salt Meets Gaming I’m thinking your problem is that your like to play ratio isn’t the strongest even though it is a good level. The only way Nintendo puts levels on the leaderboards is based off of how people like the level. If it doesn’t have many likes compared to plays, Nintendo won’t think about putting it on the leaderboard. So to solve this, I would say send your levels to streamers, in discord servers, sub Reddit’s, whatever it really takes to get more likes, and improve your ratio. Just remember, don’t beg for your likes or you will most likely be hated in the SMM2 community. The first 50-80 plays on your level really determine if it will be on the leaderboard or not. I hope this helps!

Because they are annoying can cause seizures and are a cheap way to get clout and attention they are also repetitive and constantly take up all the leaderboatd spots
