brotherhood is basically as a badassery spectacle simulator and its combat is most enjoyable if treated as such.
brotherhood has the best and most satisfying k^ll animations,
the combat feels so fun to me purely for the badass k^llmoves.
i just wish this game had the hookblade from ACR , it is satisfying to climb in a manner that triggers the hookblade animation making the climbing into almost a constant minigame while a moving
also, the combat has some weird hidden mechanics too(example: once u block 2nd combo attack of an enemy and press attack button ezio will do a critical hit sending them staggering and vulnerable to an insta-k^ll etc.).
sure the combat is braindead easy that allows button mashing, but mashing button itself is a joykiller for me that hinders my enjoyment if i do it so i just did self-restrictions (eg- only using counterk^lls in 1v1, never engaging more than 1v2 , doing combok^lls on an enemy only if the others were visibly injured after a crit etc). i try to simulate fight like this and end up enjoying it. i am not even hardcore AC fan at all
      however, RIP(*in italian)

Unfortunate that you can no longer play the multiplayer mode. I adored the multiplayer in Brotherhood and Revelations.
Nothing was better than using poison on your target right before they stun you and then watching them fall over as you get max stealth points.
Or stunning your pursuer repeatedly, taking out your target, then getting your former pursuer as your new target while he is still stunned confused as to why you are still standing over him waiting for him to stand up, at which point POISON.

I started with ac1 and played every one through to black flag when they came out. Brotherhood had such a massive amount of hype prior to release, and I remember playing it and feeling so satisfied. I loved the climbing and parkour, felt the pain when Cesare k^lled ezios uncle after playing the whole of ac2 with him. The combat may be spam-y, but it was so satisfying to get a stealth k^ll, going into multik^ll then hitting a smoke bomb and peacing out and getting away. I put so many hours into this game in single player alone. Multi-player was so much fun, I genuinely miss it. I wish ubisoft would go back to this style of assassins creed, but as of now, requiescat in pace ubisoft

One aspect to Ezio’s character that’s interesting is his relationship with his sister. The years of II he spent being an Assassin, Claudia was left behind at the family home doing bookkeeping. This time she’s not going to let Ezio sideline her, and proves she can hold her own as well as being an ally by being a source of information. She challenges Ezio’s view of her, part of his maturation being him trusting her more and not trying to shelter her. He still beats up Duccio for how Duccio describes her, but what else are big brothers for?

Every word he said was not wasted breath, and while he didn’t say much I found what he did say was important, and wasn’t just exposition or filler dialogue. And goddamn the gameplay was just brilliant, I really really think Ubisoft brought their A game when it came to both story and gameplay for 3. One thing that makes me realize how good this game is what you said about it's a playground game, but not just a simple playground game like its sequels trying to stretch.
All of Brotherhood's side missions actually mattered to the story like in AC1. They repurposed everything from AC2 that sometimes feels disjointed then straighten them up.
You do contracts to pick off Cesare's court, you do courtesans to eliminate political allies, you do thieves to eliminate bandits employed by Borgia, Romulus lairs to uncover Vatican conspiracy, and you do towers and training your assassins to liberate Roma
It's engaging because when the game hook you into the story and then actually recognize the story in every parts of the game, you are invested since it mattered and not something to waste your time.

I was 12 during this time and my argument was "Fuck you Ezio, If you DIDN'T take off your clothes the night before, we would've had SOMETHING to start with."

The modern day really works for this game. Desmond does his first proper Leap of Faith and you need to do a parkour section before getting into the meat of the Animus simulation. The banter between Desmond and Lucy is a lot of fun, like Lucy pointing out how pudgy he’s gotten from the time spent under the Animus or helping each other go through the tunnels. Being able to explore Monteriggioni in the present and find objects linked to how the town was in II. Setting up in the vault where the Master Assassin statues are located, interacting with the one for Altaïr triggering a funny cutscene.
The climax once more uses exploring the same environment in two time periods, traversing the interior of the Colosseum to access the Isu vault where once more you get to do parkour to get to the Apple stored there (leading to a shocker of an ending where Juno compels Desmond to kill Lucy with a command prompt for the player to do so, cue credits).
Final note, it’s the last game with this character model for Desmond. Starting Revelations and seeing the revised character model is an experience.

When I first played AC Brotherhood (I was like 12? 13?) and arrived at Rome I was confused and kinda intimidated by the size, but as I kept playing and grew accustomed to the city and learned to navigate certain parts by eye instead of the minimap... that feeling is unmatched by any modern AC to date.

It was the first time the series allowed to us play characters that weren't archetypal assassins like their two leads at the time. The game where I felt most like a Master Assassin. Exactly. There's a song on its OST with that title too. And I can agree on the modern day part. Say what you will, but the modern part tied the AC games together. Without that, there's no frainchise.
And thanks for mentioning the multiplayer. I haven't played anything like that multiplayer ever since, it was so great. I'm not into MP anyway, I'm all about the good story, and the campaign taking me on a ride. But this AC multiplayer, I just loved. Wish they'd bring it back. Played it a lot in Revelations too. Not after that, another game got my attention (SWTOR), but I still think back fondly of it.
PS: it's not a wonder why in all other AC games where you get a Legacy suit, the one you get from Ezio era is the Brotherhood assassin suit.

I think over the years, I see AC:B as a great base for the game to become better. You have the dens/houses for the groups that support you (thieves, courtesans, mercenaries), great city map, progression system to build your brotherhood, tombs/catacombs.
All of those were great and just needed things to improve them. I wish you can change clothes of your recruits and yourself to better blend in. Have recruits have different skill sets to customize and combine. Actually see improvement on buildings you upgrade like the villa in AC 2. Smoother parkour like in Unity. Also combat difficulty can be improved, it just got easy fast.
It’s a great game that leaves me wanting more and it seemed the graphical tech at the time of its release wasn’t enough and it needs a proper remake from the ground up

My first Assassin creed game was brotherhood and it was so confusing because imagine jumping from POP to AC its just weird because they both kinda have the same game mechanics and the PVP is so on point with the characters having such good physics is just amazing i wanted to know more so I started from the beginning the Assassins creed where Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad had me fall in love with the vast story line and the start of great journey and then in the second game Etsio was so consumed with rage and underdeveloped i almost thought is this really AC-brotherhood etsio? Over all its just beautiful as ive experienced the first 3 games completely and in love.

Great video, jayvee. But one thing I might add is that AC brotherhood kinds fixes ac2 's story. What I meant to say that in AC2, Ezio through out the whole game is taught by his superiors to take revenge against Rodrigo borgia since he killed his father and bros. However, when he killed that religious guy in Florence out of mercy, he began to preach that revenge bad. It kinda irked me. But brotherhood solves that issue by providing some side missions involving Christina, which took before and during ac2 ( they unlock only if u renovate sites around Rome tho). Those missions imo give a proper context why Ezio thought revenge is bad cuz when he lost Christina he had no motivation to do so. I mean the main reason ezio wanted to take revenge was not only to avenge his father and bros death but also the life he had lost with Christina. Ik that Christina married someone else but she was his main motivation for revenge and when she died he understood that revenge is not going to revive Christina or his family back to life. This is why I alove brotherhood so much.

I remember back in the day on my ps3 I would just sit down for like 2 hours and simply ride the horse through rome and sometimes get off and start massacring templars. It was so satisfying once you got down the rhythm of the combat you can just slice through those entire groups of templars like nothing and it's not *just* R2 and square. Sure it's part of it but you gotta switch it up and it's so fucking smooth. And don't even get me to talk about the multiplayer. It's honestly sooooo fucking underrated. It's easily one of the best multiplayers of any game period. Just no one knows about it. It's so much fun!!!

Then the boss fight happened, and it was very very long. At the beginning I was caught off guard and taken down to a situation where if I was hit once, I'd die. I went in guns blazing, using everything I'd learned (still mostly counter-killing lol), and I TOOK CESARE DOWN WITHOUT GETTING HIT FOR 9/10 OF THE FIGHT

Ubisoft made a lot of stunning games including Assassin's Creed and now i'm worried about what she's gonna do with this "Infinity". It's the first time I do something like this, but now Ubi asks the fans what they want, so...
I send them a Letter named:
"A Letter From A Worried Assassin's Creed Fan"
    Here's what It says:
    Dear Ubisoft,
I'm Filippo from Italy and I'm a huge fan of Assassin's Creed. If I've decided to write to you it's because I'm very worried about your intentions on your next (and already talked about) project: Assassin's Creed Infinity. If what I've read is true, the idea is great, but other things aren't.
I'm no one to tell you what to do, and I also strongly believe that the fans and their demands have undermined your hard work on a stunning series like Assassin's Creed, but this time, I'm on their side. I haven't played Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla yet, but honestly the more videos I watch the less I want to play them... And that's one of the problems that plague old Assassin's Creed fans. It is enough to read the comments under any video of any gameplay to understand that fans want nothing more than an Assassin's Creed with the parkour and stealth of Unity or Syndicate, an "old style" combat like the first games, but more challenging, a "contained" game world like Brotherhood's one or Revelations, the speed of the animations of Assassin's Creed 3, 4, Rogue and at first the Cinematic aspect of the series, with cutscenes worthy of a film and no dialogue to choose from.
These would be my wishes and those of many others and I hope that at least you want to consider them. But my biggest doubt about this Infinity is that this Infinity could one day be unexpectedly interrupted, due to the online.
For example, GTA Online, one day, even if very far away, will have its servers shut down, and all player games will no longer exist.
This is something no one would want to see in a game, especially an Assassin's Creed game.
I sincerely hope that your intention is to give us a full game at launch and that over time it will add other small, significant and numerous games to it as some downloadable contents. It is a must to be able to play Assassin's Creed even without being connected to the internet.
This would be the dream of many.
I really hope you'll get some inspiration from what I wrote, I believe in you. I hope you are well too.
Thank you very much for your attention.
    P.S.
Please, don't forget the modern days. You might use this "Platform" to show us stories tell only in the comics, like AC Uprising.
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's a long comment, I know. But If you agree with what I said, just tell the same thing to Ubisoft.
    Thanks.

I remember when I was a kid playing these games. I played assassins creed 2 and fell in love with it, I spent eons on it, even playing when I wasn’t supposed to be up with a earbud plugged into my shitty 12 inch box tv.
Than brotherhood came out. I got so excited when I started out with basically all my old gear and like 50,000 florins. Everything felt so smooth and upgraded I was so content. Than boom, they tear down the whole fucking complex, I’m on that goddamn horse watching my shit get destroyed “double knife lost” type shit. I was legitimately hurt by that. I spent all of my assassins creed 2 days bringing that shit back to glory 🤦‍♂️ and Ubisoft was like “ya know how we should welcome them back… tear that shit down and get rid of all their armor and weapons… and the 50,000 florins they thought they would get. Fuck them”
Afterwards I played the game and forgave them. Amazing game and worth the hit on my childhood psyche. I’m replaying it now and it seriously aged like fine wine. Anybody who’s here, go play the game.

7:35 no Jayvee, that IS on the game. Players will always use the option of least resistance, why would I do more than press counter to win if I can help it? a good combat system discourages spamming one simple move/button click by adding in variety or countering your own countering , even the arkham combat system is capable of doing that

    • @fashionkiller11
      @fashionkiller11 2 роки тому +2

It's not really the path of least resistance though, if you factor in that this method is just way slower than actively going for kills. Efficiency is key, and taking longer is a pretty big factor for being resistant in my book.
Personal experience, but i have never seen a person that plays the game by literally doing only countering all the time. I only see people taking online about it as if that is the way most people play, which is just unlikely imo.

The multiplayer was fantastic and if they brought it back I’m sure people would play. I think Unity had the chance to be like ACB and expand on it with better graphics and different types of multiplayer modes or at least 2: the hunt mode or the co-op team mode. Both were excellent and the game could have pushed back into what we loved.

I thoroughly loved playing brotherhood the second time which i just finished today. The assassin recruitment is neat, the music is good, the script and acting are a role model for future AC games to look to. And there is a sizable challenge to 100% sycnhronizing the game.
Unfortunately I found the parkour to be REALLY jank, sometimes sending me off in random directions. Other times some areas of the map felt like they needed more grapple blocks and it feels incomplete without any especially near the rivers (you have to tediously swim to a drydock). Some missions felt too linear and won't always let you go and replenish your munitions once you're locked in or approach it differently due to super sensitive dysynchronizing around every corner. Lairs of Romulus and Leonardos machine missions are either the most fun you'll have or an anticipated dread waiting for you.
Honestly I'm critical of this game but i still really liked it. I can't wait to replay revelations and use the assassin recruitment there.
