What is the rule of thumb in selecting how much weight to use to finish 4 SETS of 8 REPS for Hypertrophy for a male?

For hypertrophy, a common rule of thumb is to select a weight that allows you to complete each set with proper form, but makes the last few reps of each set challenging. Here's a general guideline:Choose a weight that is about 65-85% of your one-rep max (1RM): This range is typically effective for hypertrophy.Focus on the last few reps: The weight should be challenging enough that the last 2-3 reps of each set are difficult to complete but still achievable with good form.Adjust as needed: If you can easily complete all 4 sets of 8 reps, the weight may be too light. Conversely, if you cannot complete all the reps in each set, the weight may be too heavy. This approach ensures that you are stimulating muscle growth while minimizing the risk of injury.

There's something called a pyramid set where you increase the weight and lessen the reps after each set. If you are interested in learning about that, let me know. This is a method used by athletes to help build stamina and endurance, since the variety in weight and reps challenges the muscles in a different way.
