@craftydust love this and am planning to do this in the next few days. Can I please ask how thick the MDF was please. As wasn't listed. Thank you so much. Can't wait to watch your other videos x
I really appreciate that you took the time to try and do things properly instead of speeding through and just doing 1 coat no primer like I have seen lots of DIY videos on UA-cam.
I love that you kept the inside white. To keep the black burlap from getting dusty, try covering the burlap with painter's tape and paper or plastic. Thank you for showing us your process.
It’s a good idea. The execution could be better. Probably prime and paint all the door components before assembly, less messy and easier to touch up. The joints between the trim pieces on the doors don’t really look good. If wood putty was used to cover them, then they weren’t sanded to a seamless surface very well. But yeah, if you’ve never done that before- it looks ok.
@@xChrissanthixdude! That’s the most stupid comment I have EVER EVER read. That was a great advice that helps EVERYONE that watches this video. Everything in that comment is true. There’s nothing “jealousy” about giving peopel good advice and helping people improve their work!!!!
Your sander had a place to add a hose for dust collection system; a cheap shop vac works wonders. After sanding, I'd use a vacuum with soft brush attachment to clean off the surfaces if necessary, and then some tac cloth to pick up any remaining dust. No water needed and WAY less dust in your environment.
Beautiful jewellery, I really admire the ethical values! And OMG, what a transformation, from a dull damaged kallax to that stylish matte black cabinet with doors and everything. As usual, congratulations for the impressive work!
Thank you so much 🥰❤️ I love my Ana Luisa jewelry, I haven't taken it off since I put it on for the first time 🤩 yesss the transformation was huge, it's always exciting to see the before and after of a makeover!!
Hello, thank you for a lovely idea how to make doors. Just have one question, I want to add doors to 8 cubes kallax what sort of hinges would you recommend for middle doors? Thank you
It turned out really well. It might have been easier to paint the timber strips before putting them on the door and just touching up any spots where you put nails. I'm going to watch the Kitchen Island one next as I want to try that for my kitchen.
I thought about it too but I thought it would get really messy with the wood filler. Looking back at it, think it would have definitely been easier to paint at least the inner sides that look towards the burlap. Hope you enjoy the kitchen island one 🥰✨
@@Craftydust I did thankyou. I have 2 old Kallax shelf units like yours that used to be in a home office. I am going to do the same as you have but probably leave the drawers and doors in for storage with half open.
This is awesome. Thank you for the how to! Is that black paint essentially a wall paint? I'm getting BIN primer but struggling to find black paint that would go over it. I assumed I needed furniture/wood paint?
I am using wood paint 😊 wall paint dries matte and leaves fingerprint marks when dry (it gets dirty easier/faster). I used Tricorn black by SW here but I would highly recommend Onyx by Benjamin Moore, I found it needs less coats to achieve a truly black finish..
I've only just now found this video, and it looks great, but I would have suggested instead of burlap, to use a layer or two of aluminum window screen material painted black, to make it look even more industrial...
Thank you ✨ I live in Cyprus and so there's a very limited amount of such DIY materials. I wanted something i could use on both MDF and laminate and such spray paint doesn't exist here (and I think it would be more expensive as well because I'd need a lot of spray cans)... unless you mean using a paint sprayer, which in this case I don't have one but I am planning to buy, I think it's much faster and offers a better paint result!
Nice work. Some suggestions anyway. Why would you not build the door framing first then paint it and glued on the panel? Secondly cutting the fabric in size would not raise the frame. Btw. You can buy the kallax in black too :)
Yes, it does come out in black as well, but I found this white one on sale. Besides, even if I got it in black, I'd still have to paint it so that the DIYed doors match the shade and finish of the unit.. There's different ways you could build the doors, this one is just my take on it 😊✨
Maybe you could have primed the boards before attaching to the cabinet doors. Even if you couldn’t do 100% it could’ve saved some time and energy. Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, here also 😊 i found this piece for half price at the discounted section plus I wanted to make sure the colour of the doors would have the same finish and shade as the unit so even if I bought it in black I'd still paint it to perfectly match the doors ✨
It’s a 19.38 min video and you didn’t actually get to the hack until 4.25. That’s annoying. Not sure how jewelry factored into a furniture diy. There was A LOT of extra talking that made this video about 10 mins to long. Let’s get to the point of the video. I don’t feel like people have the time of patience to sit through extraness in 2022.

Youre the only UA-camr Ive found who isnt using the Ikea door inserts for hinges. I needed to know that a flat hinge would work 👍🏾

Very beautiful jewelry but also great to see the values around respecting the environment and health of those wearing them.
Indeed 🥰✨ it's nice to know there's good people with values behind big brands ✨
Sometimes it’s easier to to paint your wood strips before you attach them. Then all you have to do is a little touch up. Looks great!

Thank you! Soon after, I found out that there's black burlap as well, if only I knew that earlier 🙈
Love how you used an eco primer hehe. I also give a thumbs up for the proper steps when painting laminated material
When i first saw the picture, I thought it had drawers in it. Very nice job.

Thank you! A few days after posting the video I stumbled upon a very similar cabinet selling for almost $1000!
I would have used screen material instead of the burlap for more air flow. But all in all it turned out very nice.

Please be careful with your headphone cord! It could easily get caught by the sander belt, please tuck it inside your t-shirt out of the way x
Didn't even think of that but you're absolutely right!! Thanks!! ✨
I think you should had painted every thing at once with the same paint and primer
I thought about it, just wasn't sure how the burlap would take the paint....
Pero haz los agujeros antes de pintar, y la parte textil podría ir sin fondo, algo rollo ratan 🤙
So I was thinking about just purchasing ikea cabinet doors…
Those are pulls, not door knobs.
Kitten alert!
Please just go get to the point! I hate that people start talking about their own life of different things but what the video is intended
you have such beautiful eyes.
Thank you ☺️✨
I would of spent more time on the finishing It looks DIY if thats what you were going for then bravo. Its cute for pictures with filters.
Can't get passed all the wood filler you put on those joins, you were better off having those wood peaces for the door cut again to the right size.
