  • Towing the boat with the new 6.0L powerstroke. I am not sure what the boat weighs, but the diesel pulls it on the highway at 60MPH with no problems

I love the sound of the 6.0 L Powerstroke

Just FYI, I installed F-450 New Takeoffs front coil springs (found on eBay) on my 2006 F250 6.0 and it leveled it out AND gave it functionality for plowing, etc. It's a good way to keep the stock ride, add to the functionality and give it a nice leveled look.

My highest priority upgrade, would be an upgraded, aftermarket high pressure oil pump, if you're planning to keep the truck......unless a previous owner already had it done.

That rarely fails on later model trucks. (05-07)

Get a Scan Gauge II at the very least, but ideally get an Edge CTS 2. I have run both, both love the CTS because I can monitor more parameters and have the optional ($99) egt probe. I'm running stock tuning with a fully bulletproofed 2005 F-250. Welcome to the world of 6.0's, it requires a lot of research and diligence, but it's worth it.

I am definitely leaning towards the edge cts 2. I was reading more about tuning and I think I'm going to hold off. Glad to hear you're still loving yours. I think mine will be just as good.

@@NicktheStumpGuy It should be if you do everything I did. I have about $10k in my bulletproof and already had the modified turbo (not factored into cost). My labor rate was also very low.

Nice!Do you use tow/haul when pulling a trailer?
Also how’s the truck holding up?
    Any upgrades since this video?

Depends. Tow/haul seems to put the engine at a weird rpm when driving around town. I only use it when towing heavy or on the highway. Light towing I don't use it

@@NicktheStumpGuy I live in Portland Oregon and I love to use it for all of the traffic that is stop and go so that I don’t have to hit the brakes so much. It doesn’t seem to make any difference on my fuel mileage so if I use it or not

I have a 7.3, but I always turn OD off if I'm driving under 45mph. You don't want your transmission shifting in and out of OD when towing or driving slow around town.

I wouldn't chip it unless you add the ARP studs first.
There are lots of chipped 6.0s with lifted heads, blown head gasket. The cost to fix is quite immense.
I have a stock 2003 6.0 f 350 that I purchased new. It has 275,000 kms on it with quite a bit of fairly heavy towing. I've not touched anything on the power train to date.
Son in law has a chipped 05 f350 6.0, 285,000 kms no studs, always ran the low setting on chip ( 25 HP?) .
The head gasket is blown and the fix is 8100 minimum. He's not going to fix it.
Last weekend we used my stock 03 with a loaded18 foot stock trailer along with his father's f150 375 HP eco boost 3.5. gas truck. The diesel truck and trailer weighed just under 20,000 lbs.
The gas f150 + loaded 3 horse trailer weighed about 14,000.
The 325hp diesel would pull up the 7 -8% grades at 130kmh.
The 375hp gas pulled down to 100kmh on the same hills.
No need to chip a 6.0 for power!
