It’s crazy. I just practiced this nonstop for about two hours while I was watching a movie and by the time it was over I could do it. I can’t explain it. Cards are cool and weird man. The more you hold them and touch them the more they start to do things for you. Strange and magical little pieces of paper.

VirtualWoodshed this is such a weird paragraph. Part of me wants to say “what the heck, yes that’s how practicing anything works, no duh” but since I’ve actually been practicing cardistry I understand what you mean. It’s like, your fingers are used to moving a certain way and because the cards don’t change too much your hands just learn how to move with the cards. It’s so obvious from a scientific point of view but when it’s actually happening to you it’s an amazing thing that words can’t capture entirely.

You can create more space for the cards by starting with curled fingers and extending them as you spread the fan, and also you can adjust the pressure of the fanning to create a tighter fan (so less of each card is showing) and that will give more room for the final cards.

my tip is : I tried spreading cards on a mat, (using right hand, muscle memory for spreading), then adding left hand, but still fanning like spreading on mat. youll get the gist of it, faster than trying straight on point fanning.
