FUKUOKA, JAPAN - Fukuoka is known throughout Japan for its amazing noodles - from ramen to udon and champon you’ll find some of the most sought after noodles dishes throughout Japan. Today we’re going on a Japanese food tour to try some of the most popular noodles dishes.
#1 Hakata Ramen (Tonkotsu) - There’s no doubt this is one of the most important noodles dishes of Fukuoka, and one of the most famous versions of ramen in Japan - tonkotsu ramen or locally known as Hakata ramen. We went to an old school spot that hasn’t changed in decades. It was one of the best bowls of tonkotsu ramen I’ve ever had.
Hakuryuken goo.gl/maps/Yi...
Price - 1,150 JPY ($8.68)
#2 Udon - Next up for udon, another Japanese noodle classic. Udon is thick and hearty. We went to a very well known udon restaurant in Fukuoka, and actually you can order from three different sizes, yet they each cost the same amount, and depending on hours (in the afternoon when we came), you can get unlimited re-fills of noodles - so it’s all you can eat udon! I had the hugest bowl possible and it was at least three normal bowls of udon. I was pretty full after eating it all so I didn’t need more!
Shungetsuan Shotenjimae: goo.gl/maps/us...
Price - 800 JPY ($6.04 all you can eat udon noodles)
#3 Champon - The last dish is champon, especially famous from Nagasaki, south of Fukuoka on Kyushu island. It’s a totally different noodle dish concept where a heap of vegetables are stir fried and then topped like a mountain on top of noodles with thick pork bone broth. It looks huge, but goes down quite easily as it mainly consists of bean sprouts and cabbage.
Ide Champon Odo: goo.gl/maps/HL...
Price - 970 JPY ($7.32)
All three noodle dishes were fantastic and you don’t want to miss any of them when you’re in Fukuoka, Japan!

I remember watching Mark's videos from all the way back in 2015 before Maica was born & all these years later seeing him travel the world with Ying & Mark to these wonderful places trying all this amazing food. It's always a pleasure watching your videos & I've been really enjoying this Japan series. Greetings from Kenya to you & your family as well as all the viewers of these videos.
Thank you very much, appreciate your support over the years!
@@MarkWiens Thanks to you as well for bringing us all the top tier content over the years. Your unique way of story telling through the places you visit, the food & people you showcase in your videos is what keeps bringing me back.
I as well have watched Mark forever and a day. Mark brought me into the food culture on UA-cam and has convinced me and the wife to sell our business and move to Chiang Mia to retire next year.
@@MrWilderNapalm wow, that's quite awesome... enjoy Chiang Mai!!
@@brxan3096 very much agree re: the storytelling, and the people that are featured. It's truly been a wonderful channel to watch over the years.
We are addicted to Marks videos! Amazing food, amazing places, always tones of natural positivity and joy radiating from his personality. Very genuine and respectful content creator! Thank you Mark and team! It’s a fab experience to watch each video
This is the first ever video of Mark Wiens that I've watched, and his face just radiates happiness, even when he isn't smiling, I love it☺️
Yeesh.. Just hearing the words "udon", "ramen", and "Fukuoka" make me come running.. but the fact that Mark is at the helm means this is a 'must watch'!
True
By the way Mark, not only considered acceptable and polite, slurping the noodles helps to cool them down because the air comes with it and prevents you from burning your lips and also the cheffs like to hear it as it is common sense that you are enjoying the meal and are really craving it it
Wow! Every food you in Japan that you show looks spectacular! I can't believe how exact & careful they are in making everything perfect looking and delicious. Thank you for bringing us all this great content Mark. Wishing you and your family the best.
Mark - Living the foodie life for us foodies who can't travel the world. Nothing but love! I would LOVE to eat Tonkotsu ramen in Fukuoka.
What a pleasure to see you enjoy different style Noodles in Fukuoka
Every time he wears the color navy blue it looks so good on him. That color brings his eyes out to a really pretty greenish gray.
It's 1 o'clock in the morning here in Sydney Australia and I started to watch Mark eating yummy noodles, so I got so jealous and got out of bed and made myself a bowl. Mark stop showing us all this mouth watering dishes. Love all your videos, Thank you Mark. From Sydney Australia xxxooo
😂😂😂
U really made yourself a bowl 1 o'clock in the morning😅😮
@@sorayasing3717 Oh !!! Yes I did, and enjoyed it
Get lost..
Thank you for always putting the names of these places. I plan to travel to Japan one day and will definitely check these places out! All of it looks so so delicious
Mark is very well traveled. I admire his tolerance for very spicy foods. He has the best yum yum faces. I often wonder where he puts all that food.
Mark Hi from Tokyo. I loved the food in Fukuoka when I visited and I highly recommend もつ鍋(Motsu(Intestines) nabe) its one of fukuokas specialties.
Love how you created this video the content, editing and even the background music especially from 12:57. No wonder you can have over 9.7 m subscriptions now and approaching to 10m very soon. Keep up the good work Mark! Thank you for sharing with us these numerous bowls of scrumptious ramen!
The last restaurant was beautiful the noodles looked amazingly delicious 😋
Mark is always so knowledgeable
Thank you for pronouncing tonkotsu ramen correctly. Drives me nuts when other people say tonkAtsu ramen. I always appreciate how hard you try to pronounce things correctly.
That label in front of the udon place entrance was asking you to disinfect your hands with hand sanitizer before entering. They take their cleanliness super seriously.
I can’t wait to visit Japan.
Ramen is my favourite type of noodle dish. Thanks for the video!
Great to hear that!
Awesome landscape, amazing dishes.
Very high quality video as I’ve come to expect from mark and his family/team!
Incredibly grateful that you’ve chosen to do this Japan series as I’m very interested personally in the almost unsurpassed dedication the Japanese have with gastronomy.
Unflinching, direct and nuanced. This video was the very definition of enjoyable.
13:31 It is a monument to the food you just ate!!! Beyond monumental!!! MONUMENTAL UDON UDON MONUMENT!!!!
I Love Japan🇯🇵 and Ramee noodles🍜
There are many delicious restaurants in Fukuoka, but it is very difficult even for Japanese people to find delicious restaurants.
I think Mark is very well researched.
Well, I'd imagine it helps when you can read Gurunavi and other review sites, but those of us who haven't developed our palate with delicacies from all over the world like Mark can probably just rely on pretty much everything in Japan exceeding our plebeian expectations, instead of a research team in the background. I'm like 158:1 for liking (almost) every meal I've eaten in Japan so far.
21:07 . At the end of each video he promotes the company or companies that he hires to show him where to go
Now that Mark has almost 10 million subs he has a very large number of local fans who help him find the best places.
@@edwardfletcher7790marks been working hard at this for fourteen years now. He's definitely good at it
That first bowl of Tongkotsu has massive amount of noodles. Good Lord!
Hello again! bro. Mark, it's a beautiful country of Fukuoka Japan 🇯🇵🗾 welcome saymase, the ramen 🍜 is a long life delicious to your meal! enjoy and very nice! 🙂👍
My Favorite Ramen 🍜 Thank you @Mark for this delicious video 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The discreption of a bowl 🥣 of soup 🍲 😋 is making me hungry.
All those noodles looked so delicious 😋
Buddhist monks, both Japanese and Chinese played key roles in transmitting not only Buddhist doctrine but also important cultural, artistic, medical and practical technologies for more than a millennia. Even when relations were tense between the two countries, Buddhist monks continued to tie the two countries together.
I didn't think I'd ever see Mark eat a bowl of noodles without any chili peppers in it. 🤔
That’s because it is not common for Japanese to eat spicy.
Mark rarely eats any food without adding chilli. He likes his food very spicy.
welcome to Fukuoka!! Even Fukuoka residents don't know about these restaurants. Good search, good choice!
Saludos y BENDICIONES señor Mark, desde mojave California, soy de oaxaca México y me gustan mucho sus videos, saludos a su esposa y niños 🙏🏻😍🤝
Marks videos are simply amazing 👏
Hey Mark! Love all your videos. I have been to Fukuoka as well and have had the Hakata Ramen many times at the airport! So so good! Best Ramen ever!
It seems champon might be a new dish for Mark. We used to have a Ringer Hut (champon) restaurant nearby here in California but it shut down during the pandemic. I've had it in Kyushu as well. My impression is that it's healthier with all the veg. It's a tasty Nagasaki treat.
It looks like a hell of a nutritious tasty and generously portioned feast for six USD.
I really appreciate that the prices are included. It shows how much we can or can't afford. Same with the wagyu video. Good to know that there is really affordable food in Japan. Hope to see more prices in other countries.
And that doesn't even really also count the vending machines and convenience store stuff which is absolutely amazing in and of themselves. Also if one is staying in a suite with a kitchen the grocery stores are pretty crazy affordable. I basically lived off Lawson's food items for four months lol
I basically survived off Lawson's convenience store food and sushi with the occasional bowl of ramen for four months and I spent anywhere from fifteen to twenty USD a day and you can get by on way way less if you wanted. I was constantly trying random food in izakayas as well and that was typically never more than ten or twelve bucks plus beer.
Basically if you cook at home in Japan you can easily eat a solid healthy diet for five USD a day to be honest
Wowww! I love udon and ramem
The ramen that matches the music of Pitagora Switch is perfect. All Japanese people understand this miracle. As expected, you will make a miracle happen.
Always wanted to go to Japan, but I won't ever have the money for it.
I am so thankful for these videos that let me get a glimpse at Japanese Culture and its delicious cuisine.
Thank You very Much Mark
It's not as expensive as you would think. Street food is super afforsable there. You can save for a few months, reserve flight & accomodation WAY in advance for a good offer online. I did it back in 2016 (booked in January & went in November, almoat 9 months later). Came out around $1,700 USD.
Never say never
There's budget travel options it can be done cheaper than many people think.
Nice just in time while I’m having my lunch .
I love seeing how much Mark can eat!!
loving these vlogs Mark-the food makes me hungry
Love your videos mate. Every time I watch your videos I get hungry. Cheers 🍻
Always entertaining and fun. Thanks Mark.
Great video Mark! God bless and thank you!
This makes me wanna go to Japan sooo badly, I fell in love with ramen, maybe someday I can go.
Don't eat, white noodles aren't healthy food..
Another reason to visit Japan 🇯🇵! Thanks Mark for another video!
I agree, I’m wanting to go myself.
Man! Its impossible to taste all the marvellous Japanese food because there are so many familiar Restaurants that really deserve credit because of the special uniques familiar recipes they have. You need to live a long live in Japan to taste everything. Only in Ramen you can have a diferent kind of Ramen for each an every day of the full year. Anyway, we really appreciate your effort investigating about food. Greetings for you from Santiago de Chile.
Your japan series has been soooooo good!
Mark..you are my favorite youtube personality 💯💪🏼🙏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you very much for sharing, Always support your video🙏🏽
Amazing
this is the Japan episode i was waiting for.
Thank you for featured in Fukuoka! The number of Western tourists, which was said to be rare in Fukuoka, is increasing rapidly. One of the reasons is said to be because you uploaded these videos. There are many things to see in Fukuoka. Thank you so much!❤
This makes me both so jealous and inspired 😅 Tonkatsu ramen is such a thing of beauty.. and to try it in the town where it was birthed, along with two other heavyweight local noodle dishes 😑 This is why I watch this channel!
Thank you Mark for the mouth watering noodle tour! Your content is a, pleasure to watch! Thank you for exposing us to all these beautiful cultures from around the world. Nicely done as always✌ 👍
Great video Mark as usual 👍 .Would love to see more comfort food videos much love from USA Tennessee

If you stay in japan yet .
You have to go to Asakusa for eat some traditional dishes .
Have you ever go to there ?
There are so many awesome spot for the meal yo !
Impressive Mark! Love all the music and editing in the video, world class.
Those noodles just don't seem to end🤤One thing that irks me is that a lot of places here will charge premium prices for ramen and only give you a handful of noodles... it never feels like it's enough haha.
Holy Cow! I would love to go to these places! You made me hungry for noodles! My dream is to go to Japan to have great food and meet up and find my family there! My 90 year old Japanese mom just passed two weeks ago. She always told me I’d turn into a noodle! Love your content!
I love everytime Mark refers to a broth with the “porkiness” tag
brilliant commentary all the best james
Damn. I wish I had this kind of huge bowls of ramen for this cheap price in my town.
That ramen looks incredible
Mouth watering Mark I really love your videos featuring different dishes/ cultures amazing!!!
Ramen Beyond stunning one Ramen restaurant making Noodle 70 year impressive oldest one making noodle Jammy and Delicious thank you Mark showing Japan love it
On behalf of my many Japanese friends, thanks again for touring Japan!
In Fukuoka udon noodles soup is made from dried flying fish. In Fukuoka udon noodles soup has two type Bonita freak and flying fish. More salty one is flying fish. When you are champon red condiments is pickled ginger.
Looks so delicious thanks for sharing
every time I see your videos you make me hungry l like the way you express your self….Thank you for sharing nice video Mark
That Champon is enough food for 3 people. I'm impressed.
Great video, Mark. Hope to see you review more guay tiew dishes in Thailand too!
Another perfect video 👍
Rock on Mark!!!....I'm a Super Sub of yours but I seldom leave comments, but I've become a huge Ramen fan due to watching your channel. I buy a Udon noodle that Costco sells, a little expensive but it is soooo worth it.......and of course, I've learned to add all my personal ingredients to dock it up, that's about as close I'm will get to Japan.😂😂😂😂
Homie in the bk is sucking down them noodles 😂😂😂 great video
食べ方が日本人と同じなんだよなぁ。本当に美味しそうに食べる。
This is epic
Definitely on my bucket list
Ken and Ryu would enjoy the first place especially

The noodles looks very delicious especially the udon . 👍
Those Dishes looked delicious...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for introducing me to cheap and delicious ramen and champon shops that are loved by the people of Fukuoka City.
I live in Chuo Ward, Fukuoka City, but I didn't know many of the restaurants, but I could tell how delicious they were.
Looks really delicious 😋. I'd pay for my Ramen noodles to look that delicious 😋, sounds sooo good the way you eat those noodles 🍜 😋.
ramen is the BEST
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL MARK WIENS DAY
Wow mark yummy
I didn't know this type of Hakata Ramen despite I'm Japanese. Though typical Hakata Ramen noodles are very thin like Somen, the noodles of this restaurant are like fettuccine.
I believed all Hakata ramen noodles are thin ones.
Thank you for your fascinating video! I got a great cue thanks to your video to go to Hakata.
That looks so good! 🍜
Lovely stuff
Another Great Video 📹 the noodles 🍜 looks Delicious 😋
