FUKUOKA, JAPAN - Welcome to Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu, in southern Japan, and this is one of the capitals of Japanese street food in the country. They have done an amazing job to preserve the culture of “yatai” or portable street food stalls that set up in the evening across the city. Tonight we’re going on an ultimate Japanese street food tour in Fukuoka, going to 5 different place for 5 Japanese dishes and I can’t wait to share all the food with you now.
#1 Yaki Ramen
Location: Kokinchan: goo.gl/maps/AMGdvUadJR6JbFwi6 - We’re starting off with a famous yatai stall where they invented the original yaki ramen - or fried ramen. It was definitely new to me, I thought it would be more of a dry fried noodles, but it was rather a wet and soup fried noodle dish. Amazing, as were the other dishes.
Price - 2,650 JPY for everything
#2 Gyoza
Location: Yatai Mamichan: goo.gl/maps/dwSFjcZea59H947D8 - You can go on a Japanese street food tour without eating gyoza, and Yatai Mamichan is one of the best places to eat them. The chef is amazingly skilling, cooking everything on his own and darting from station to station. Part of the great thing about eating at Yatai is being right in front of the cooking and interacting with the chef.
Price - 8,450 JPY for 5 people (we ordered a lot and lots of drinks)
#3 Tempura - Next, I’m not totally sure of the name of this place, but they are known for their tempura, battered and deep fried seafood and vegetables. It was a little oily, but still quite tasty.
Price - 1,100 JPY
#4 Hakata Ramen
Location: Yatai Kiryu: goo.gl/maps/RB5UQkK8wFUG8TTX6 - Hakata ramen, or tonkotsu ramen is one of the most common and popular dishes in Fukuoka and you’ll find Hakata ramen served at nearly all yatai food stalls.
Price - 650 JPY per bowl
#5 Yakitori
Location: Yatai Kawachan: goo.gl/maps/5jzCzVt4VwHJ7hGS7 - Finally we ate at a place called Yatai Kawachan, known for their yakitori, or grilled chicken skewers. It was a quite a selection of different skewers from gizzard to hot dog.
Total price - 4,400 JPY for everything with drinks
The yatai street food culture in Fukuoka is one of the great Japanese food scenes in Japan. Let’s hope generations continue to take pride in their food stalls and preserve the yatai culture.
Thank you to Visit Kyushu (www.visit-kyushu.com/en/) for helping me organize this food tour.

Can't say why others love his videos but for me it is his vibe and decency. He not only tastes every food with love but also with much interest and respect. He is such a genuine person that I can never get tired of his videos or the way he is so on point giving every little detail of food.
It’s his face when he eat good food for me 😅
Yes, unlike other *famous* food travel UA-camrs that are not genuine
@@aaocs7042 I think he fakes a lot in order to build a brand. This is why I don't watch him no more. Its my opinion though. I wound't make much of it.
@@ioan7885 I don't think he's faking it. He just endorsed the food he likes with his original facial brand which got him so famous.
Did you notice the way he pointed to the foods? That's another genuine body language he showed appreciation. Imo 😉
@larrysong953 years ago that face was not there. Anyway, each has its right to its own idea
BACK IN JAPAN, LETS GOOOOOO
The chef from stall 2 is a machine! He's the equivalent of a, Samurai Chef!
Delicious food tour and awesome ambience! 👌👍
Yes Samurai Chef, amazing skills and keeping track of everything!
ive seen him before he is very popular. a lot of food vloggers and international tv stations have already featured him
@@MarkWiens still r you in Japan mr:mark
burn gyoza
he reminded me of Yukihira soma from food wars
Thank you, Mark❤
As a Japanese, I'm really happy that you introduced many viewers to Japanese food stalls❤
Its made me want to explore more of asia. Who knows where I pop up. I may just die and come back a robot in Japan.
🔥🔥🔥👍❤️
Respect to Mark he really made his dream job himself. 🤩💫
So did I and many other people :)
Yes 🔥🔥
I just love how you express so much joy and pleasure when eating! Pure happiness.
that man in the second stall has the kind of skill and experience you only see from people working for year’s in a job
I love when you come to Japan ! The way they prepare food , in such a delicate way. They use little seasoning to make perfection. The presentation of there food ,they seem to put so much time and effort into the food Japanese chef’s bring customers into experience their culture, an understanding Japanese food.
Japan has some great food and the people are real nice.
Japan is in my bucket list and seeing it now with this amazing food, it’s a must do!
We love fried ramen but the original always tastes good.
Great to hear that!
If you can make it there someday I highly highly recommend it, it's my favourite country that I've travelled to and I can't wait to go back.
And their unique quality is Hygiene as well.
Tickets this fall are $400 each way on a few airlines. No better time to go.
I've always been fascinated by the lesser known cuisines of countries mostly known for one thing. Mark always does his travel destinations justice by showing how diverse and abundant the food there is.
The first time you have seen an actual person in your house is when they get to your door
You are the best food blogger that I have ever across. It is not only a food blog... It's an art. The exquisite artistic way you present things, places... The way you respect people and their made food... It showed how much love you contain in your heart for people and food... Connected anchoring, Cinematography, Coloring, Tone, Editing everything is so artistic... It's an honor to watch your Blogs.
What really makes yatai so special is the niche it fills in Japanese food culture. That of street food, cooked fresh, on the sidewalk...as its done, say, in Saigon or Bangkok. You could probably get the same food or things similar to it at actual brick and mortar restaurants in Fukuoka; but, there is something so charming about getting them at one of the sidewalk stalls. And, those vendors work so hard. The entire structure, the cooking apparatus...everything has to be erected before service begins. Then, the owner/chef buzzes around merrily to serve his or her eager customers once they flood in. Japan needs to preserve this culture.
Yatai Mamichan was a show in itself. Multi-talented guy.
Very informative and entertaining video in one. Love to see how Mark acknowledges his audience. Impressive engagement too.
Thank you for the video you shared, Japan is really beautiful. Now is the time when the plum blossoms bloom, it's so wonderful.
Thật tuyệt
“It’s so cozy and delicious in there.” Another wonderful Markism! Welcome to Japan, my fellow Mark!
I'm so lucky that my daughter in law is Japanese. I have eaten a lot of absolutely delicious japanese food 🙏❤️❤️❤️
Japanese food are truly world class plus their dedication and hardwork ❤️

Thank you for showcasing the increasingly rare yatai. I’m a firm believer in preserving food culture and you’re doing a good job shining the spotlight
Thank you very much for coming to Japan again Mark san hope you enjoyed your trip!
Mark this is the first time I’ve decided to post after watching your food tours for years now. Thank you for continuing to do these tours. Each time I start having an anxiety attack I put your videos on and honestly it helps calms my anxiety to the point the anxiety goes away. Have a great day on purpose, Nina from Chicago.
Yay Japan series is back……we were back in Tokyo last month and good to see shops starting to get more business
WOOOOOO YEAH BABY! That what Ive been waiting for! SO looking forward to return of Japan food vlogs for years after everything is returning to normal.
Japan is the country that I always wanted to go, it's look amazing 😍😍 and food look amazingly delicious.
Everybody has to visit Japan at least once.
The only way to make it happen is if we have to go through the whole thing again
I don’t know if you know this or if you’re just trying to be funny or whatever you want me to say but I’m just trying to get my life together
marks confidence is on another level recording himself eating and commentating
Through Mark we get to see amazing food, people and their surroundings from different cultures and regions. Thank you Mark for your continued efforts. Simply love your content. Planning to visit Japan this year and this video just makes me want to go even more.
Hi Anik...i make great indian food vids, may i catch your attention and invite you over to mah channel !?
It's amazing ... you'll love it!
My city!! So glad you visited the best city in Japan!! Tokyo certainly can give you all sort of amazing food, but Fukuoka can offer real authentic Japanese soul food with real fresh ingredients. Fish are fresh off the boat. Produce are picked right out side of the city. We just loooooove eating everything whenever we go home from US. I wish could show you around you and your family!!!
and yet he chose to eat yuk...
• Fukuoka is the capital of Japanese street food in Japan
• The yatai stalls set up every day at around 6 PM
• Mark visits five different yatai stalls, each specializing in a different dish
• He tries the original yaki ramen, which is a signature dish at the first yatai
• He enjoys the omelette made with menta (spicy fish roe) at the second yatai
• The third yatai is famous for its tempura, including shrimp, eggplant, fish, and peppers
• The fourth yatai specializes in Hakata-style ramen with thick pork bone soup
• The fifth and final yatai serves yakitori (grilled chicken skewers) and pig organ soup
• Mark enjoys the delicious food, the friendly people, and the traditional yatai culture in Fukuoka
Been watching Mark since 2013 and this episode is pushing me to visit Fukuoka even more.
Btw, i love to see MyeongDong or Hongdae streetfood episode.
I’m grabbing Japanese food today simply because this iconic video. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow. It's great to see a variety of Japanese local foods through this video. Thanks for sharing.😀👍👍
I've never seen you drink so much in all the years of watching! Love the stalls! I've been to two of them myself! Loved the video!
Everytime i Watch your videos it makes me want to travel and try new foods!!!
Mark back in Japan!! Love that you're introducing "yatai-style" street food to the World! Welcome back!
I am a Japanese who has been watching mark's videos for the past two years.
It's been a long time since I've come to Japan, so I'm very happy...!
(I also visited under the influence of mark There is also a restaurant.)
I'm looking forward to mark's videos from now on 😊
I love Mark Wiens videos. He is such a powerful positive vibe person. No wonder his wife and son - his son is so good. I simply enjoy Marks video and also try to cook some of the dishes from the show - but of course don't add so much chilly as Mark is used to. I wish him the best of the best and also his family. Mark is very down to earth. I would love to meet him. I live in Nairobi , Kenya .
I wanted to hear about the Japanese hot dog, are they different from the American in some interesting ways?
You see there is much more to expect from the Japanese cuisine than just Sushi, thank you Mark for filming!
I love that you're filming in Japan now, i'm looking forward to a lot of your adventures eating all over the country!
Fukuoka's grilled ramen looks delicious☺✨Welcome to Japan! !
Thank you!
THATS THE BEST MARK. HOPE TO SEE YOU SOON
I like the intro, congratulations you have unlocked a new expert level in food blogging
I've been watching Mark for a while now. He taught me that the best way to truly connect with another culture is to ENJOY their food, not just try it. That's easier said than done. What Mark is doing is something I have never seen anyone do before. He truly connected and lived with people of all cultures in ways few people can. When he tries new dishes and cuisines, he tries his best to indulge in them the same exact way the locals do. And you can easily tell that he really loves it! Love you Mark!
The only way to make a good impression is by having an image of your face and then showing it to your friends
Mark ..you always have a smile 😃 on your face in your video. Well done 👏
Wow. Just amazing food.
Changes in production and quality. I love it. I have became a fan of that 2nd stall guy. Really talented. Absolute skilled.
Another great video! Thanks, Mark, for introducing the world to your experiences!! Also watching your Food Affair show on HBO!
Thank you very much Dan!
Mark is basically doing mukbang disguised as a food travel show. He can really go to town
What are the Ingredients of Yaki Ramen? Most of the time Mark will walk you thru what you are watching as a dish is prepared...not this time. I LOVE the way Mark eats Ramen. He shoves the noodles into his mouth and doesn't care how long his noodles are or how much he has to consume to get the FULL Flavor. FANTASIC! His LAST stall was Amazing. Yakitori is one of my favorite dishes in other parts of the world....not often but available...YUMMY!
The chef at station #2 is going to have to hire some help because he is going to get flooded with customers after this video. Very impressive cooking skills and management of his station. Hopefully I can make it out to Japan soon and I will definitely be checking out all these places. 😋
This is a bucket list item for me. To tour the street food vendors around areas of japan. Have drinks and meet new people!
Thanks for bringing Japan’s culture to us Mark!!
living in japan is great
The only way to get the best out of them is by getting them to do what they do best and then getting them back
I’m not sure if it’s just me or if it’s just you and me or not because I’m just trying to figure out what to say and what to tell
Thank you so much, Mark, for sharing your travels and food with us.
All your videos make me want to visit Japan and eat their food. Not just Japan but around the world. I am honestly tired of eating the same thing over and over again, I want something different. I live in Bangladesh 🇧🇩.
Looks like you had fun on this one Mark! Each one of the chefs seemed so skilled and engaging. You did a great job as usual!
I don't know how Mark is able to stomach so much food at once haha but all the food looks so amazingly delicious!!
looks delish, but wow they're expensive though
I have to give the second chef a salute , he’s more than a chef , he’s a performer ‼️
For how much longer though. I felt exhausted watching this one-man operation.
OMG you are in Japan now? I’m a big fan of your videos!!! I’m from Japan and was looking forward to seeing you eating in Japan! I recommend to visit Hiroshima and have Hiroshima Okonomiyaki. Please try it if you have a chance ✨

Sir Mark if you visit to Davao city you must stay in Marco polo hotel and you can see the roxas night market and eat a lot of food and taste the mindanawan food.. I hope sir you can manage to visit Davao city.thank you so much more power
Yatai Manryu 満龍
One of my favorite yatai in Fukuoka.
Additional tip: Instead of ordering beer, Sour Lemon (Chuhai) are even better booze. Cheaper + Refreshing and sour help you digest more for next stall.
This one was simple but, VERY enjoyable 👍🏽🇻🇮
All the Love for Japanese street food
I wish I could be half as happy as Mark Wiens always looks. He literally never stops smiling
Japanese street foods are legendary
… awesome, Mark! You bring to life yatai food with all its flavours, aroma, sights, sounds & tentage to someone here in Singapore! Very well done! 👍👍
Can't wait to go back to Japan. I have actually been to Fukuoka but did not get to explore the street food! Beautiful city though. Love all your videos Mark!!

For his reference
6:01 Japanese mustard, "karashi." stronger than Western mustard.
6:52 ”Yuzu kosho," made from chili and yuzu peel, etc.
8:48 "Mentaiko," spicy cod roe.
11:15 "Benishouga," ginger pickled in vinegar with umeboshi, so it's red.
12:37 it's more like Ten-Ichi. This "Ten" and tempura has a same kanji.
13:55 ”Daikon oroshi," grated Japanese radish. It may be slightly tangy.
15:15 green pepper
23:06 Strange enough but what he says "hot dog" is called "frank(furter)."
24:21 "Tsukune." You can take it as a chicken meatball but eggs are used, and tsukune has fish version.
I'm so happy that Mark came to Japan. I'm a big fan of you. I would like to see you in KOBE.
Hi Mark, Welcome to Japan! (I have never been to Hakata though) I think the citrus pepper condiment you ate at the first Yatai is "Yuzukosho". Fresh green chilies fermented with salt along with Yuzu. I love to put it in Udon. You can use it cooking all around. I highly recommend! (You can buy them at supermarket. Fundokin brand is great, also maybe there are regional brands.
Thank you very much, yes you are right the yuzukosho, amazing condiment, thanks for the recommendation!
When I talk to my wife and say, "Let's have Japanese tonight, or Indian, or Afghani food", we pick a restaurant. When Mark and his family have that conversation, they pick a Country!!! Well played Mark.
Great Video like always 👌 👍 👏 😀
What an incredible video Mark, I almost had tears of joy watching you eating all that street food in the nights of Japan!
Thank you for taking me to Japan Mark! It's my dream country :)
are you just dumb? Apparently, with your use of the apostrophe in "VLOGS"
Mark, thanks for this tour of Fukuoka’s street food culture! Nagoya used to have something like this, but as you said, it is getting harder to find in Japan.
Yet another great video. Thank you for eating and enjoying all that exotic food that we would not want to even try like the Beef tongue.
My father's side of my family is from Fukuoka. Thanks for visiting there and sharing your experiences with us! I LOVE your videos!

Mark thanks for sharing. We love fried ramen but the original always tastes good.
The chef in yatai number 2 is amazing. A 1 man band
