Bannerlord Tactics: Defending Villages Against the Hordes

- Welcome back future Emperors, Khans, Jarls and Sultans, in this episode we continue our series covering some of the pre-battle strategy that is necessary for you to succeed in Bannerlord. I cover several important subjects that will help you with Kingdom, a summary of how I form my army composition, what troops I like, how much of each kind and then a little on army and noble management. I recommend the playlist for those who REALLY want to get better at the game and dominate.
This New series is going to cover defending villages with tactics, as I explore Calradia for villages with the landscape terrain and nuances necessary for a great defense. We'll have a bloody battle from my campaign with elite units followed by an instructional episode showing these village defenses from the custom battle menu - clearly illustrating how you two can pull off these kind of victories, even without an elite army. Finally, we'll let the AI try these battles and see how badly they get mauled(LOL). Enjoy! This Pilot episode covers Etirfurd, a village in Vlandia near Sargot.

My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....

I'm still not good enough to be able to play with 7/8 cores but i used to just use 3 cores and now i play with 6.

Hands down best Bannerlord channel out there atm. Thanks again for your content completely changing the way I play.
Currently running a side campaign Sturgan no cav no archer except handful of companion archers which means no T6 at all.
Anyway got me thinking about a value for money or best Denar per kill ratio, perhaps a capped army cost side campaign? For example 2 x T3 brigands vs a T5 wildling? Not sure if take into account feeding a larger lower tier army or what that may look like, just interesting thought.
Anyway keep up the awesome work, this is the content I wouldn’t mind paying for!
Very generous praise, my friend! I'm STILL free though my wife is looking at the time I'm investing and wondering why I'm not monetized, or at least generating some money for a charity. It's a labor of love though.
I think if we're strictly talking money per effectiveness(with good tactics), tier 3 and tier 4 units with bandits, some of which are nasty, is probably tops. See my weak army series, you can dominate!

Haha! No question, but I hadn't realized this is how it looks from an outside perspective. Of course we're only 'raiding' to get attention, but it does look hilarious.
My favorite thing to do is hold bridges idk what my fascination is with bridge fighting but I love it and can’t get enough
Then you're in luck - In my campaign we have a battle at a bridge coming up against... well I can't spoil it, but it's the most amount of troops I've ever fought at once! Stay tuned!

whats your recommended troop ratio
For MOST battles, I prefer 25-35% infantry, 35-50% archers and 10-15% cav. Of course you can mix in horse archers, but for me it's either LOTS of horse archers or don't bother with many. Also you can add here I suggest the infantry breakdown to be 30% spear/shield heavy tanks, 35% skirmishers, 35% shock troops.

I have a challenge for you: I saw your video about Vlandian Sharpshooters - ua-cam.com/video/6il4YrmVZHc/v-deo.html - (fucking loved it man) and then this video from other channel about Bannerlord I watch while eating - ua-cam.com/video/TcI47sVqE4o/v-deo.html -. In short words: he took 1000 Fian Champions and tried to survive in total war scenario using only them.
So I thought you should try it too but with Vlandian Sharpshooters instead. I even created a small rule set for you. Do whatever you want with it, I just wanted to give you a small jumpstart
1000 Vlandian Sharpshooters (VS) vs Everybody on the map (To your choosing, ether start a new game or create a new save on your existing campaign)
Setup (cheats are allowed only at the start of the game)
1. Spawn 1000 Vlandian Sharpshooters
2. Give yourself 4-th level of clan (to create a kingdom to count casualties and won battles)
3. Give yourself a Vlandian Sharpshooter armor + weapons (so deciding factor in the battles is not your kills but VS kills)
General rules (Tweak them how you like, I just wanted to give you a jumpstart)
1. Only VS in the army (no allied armies unless they contain VS only (Companions too))
2. Total war from the start. Word "peace" has never been invented
Loosing condisions (there will be no winning in this type of campaign)
1. Being defeated in battle, resulting in desperse of your army
2. Having no Town/Castle to your kingdom
Very interesting suggestion. Not sure I can start something like this just yet, and if I did, I'd want to start it in my late-game campaign(for bigger battles). Sounds like a simple war of attrition, so basically I cannot recruit troops and would be slowly dwindled down. Tactically the interesting parts would be where the army was 300 or so men, I still think 300 sharpshooters can destroy forces three or four times their size, but with 1,000 it would almost always be a complete massacre.
I have a LOT of mini-series already going on, so I probably couldn't start something like this soon, but I'll keep it in mind as I DO love my sharpshooter armies and they have enormous tactical potential.
