Bannerlord Tactics: Freestyle Tactics, Volume XIII: Crossbow Crossfire

- Welcome back future Khans, Emperors, Jarls and Sultans of Calradia! We're continuing to show our late-game campaign including huge battles, and winning(most) of these battles by deploying advanced tactics to overcome superior enemy forces. Our entire channel is dedicated to helping players improve their field command and if that's your desire, or just want to see huge, dramatic battles, you've come to the right place.
This series, part 13 of our freestyle series designed to show unique situations where we often shift strategy on the fly to deal with unique scenarios. This series is designed to help players further their field command to the point where they will fluidly move troops depending on situations, and win battles like a Legend.
Please comment, like and subscribe if you're interested in more of my ultra-late-game campaign, that may end up ending in utter despair, but that's the challenge of it. Any challenge where success is assured is no challenge at all.
My campaign is an extremely late-game campaign where I am resolved to give no peace to these scum Kingdoms attacking me - seven of the eight have been at war for years, with only Sturgia at a neutral stance. My family of warriors is now large though and with what remaining strength and valor we can must, we stand against the map of Calradia.

I use four mods:
Lord Retinue Uptier(Makes the enemy forces stronger, much less peasants and lower ranked troops)

Improved AI Troops(Also makes enemy lords and their armies tougher by giving them a higher daily xp rate. This means you'll routinely face armies with HUGE numbers of the highest tier units, sometimes four or five times the normal amount in vanilla Bannerlord): www.nexusmods....
Death for all: This mod allows you to set the rate at which nobles die more often. I want both a harder challenging late-game but also a more realistic game. If you're cut down with a massive aserai two-handed axe, you shouldn't just be injured 99.9% of the time. It's a very customizable mod so you can just a little more death or set the death rate so high you get several deaths every battle. The number I often like is '10', some deaths but not a massacre of nobles...

I also use the Dismemberment Plus Mod: It's highly customizable and works seamlessly with the new beta(and versions back to 1.28). I thoroughly recommend it if you enjoy carnage!:

I've also used Realistic Battle Mod in the past and highly recommend it for Ai and battle realism BUT I find the pace too slow for my taste and the AI is actually rather predictable after a half dozen battles. Still I wanted to put a plug in for it here, it's a GREAT mod and highly configurable. www.nexusmods....
Much of the music and inspiration for this and other videos in the channel are inspired by Epic History TV - probably THE best channel on youtube(and the internet for that matter) covering the Napoleonic wars. With amazing work Epic History TV takes you through the dramatic and incredibly story of Napoleon covering all of his most famous battles. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I do not know if streaming m&B Is the way to make money, but i think that m&B community Is full of middleaged nerdy people who would donate without you changing the content. @@davidstencl5517 The good thing is that money isn't a need, I'm almost retired and have a pension. It's likely if the channel WAS monteized, there would be a charitable element to it... My wife and I both are into philanthropy...

That was an excellent battle, I truly thought your force was fubar multiple times but you managed to pull it back and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Very impressive. :)
This is actually exactly how it felt, haha! That makes battles like this so sweet, to pull a rabbit ouf of the hat.
That reverse slope is textbook Napoleonic tactics. Wellington used it at Waterloo, to both protect his infantry from artillery fire and hide troop movement, which was part of what prompted Ney’s disastrous cavalry charge. Great to see in M&B.

Hey Phil big fan of your channel. Just came across it a couple weeks ago and your tactics are crazy thorough. I'm starting to learn how to use some properly. Nothing crazy yet but in an evenly matched battle I've gone from taking about half loss to closer to give or take 25% consistently. Videos are great, keep it up!

Speaking of the devil, have you seen the mod for the game of thrones version of bannerlord? Pretty sweet!
That's some enthusiasm there brother, we'll see what later this year brings and as to the GOT mod, I've seen a few short videos and it IS sweet. So many mods - so little time??

hah, finally found a fellow DAoC mate. It was a BLAST for several years, especially when there was 100-200 people PvP'ing, made for some epic battles and a surprising amount of TACTICS apply to Bannerlord.
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Indeed; compare that to "modern MMOs" that struggle to handle 200 players in close proximity, let alone having them fight; thats like a warmup in DAoC for the usual evening zerg battles. :D
Or that small "elite groups" can disrupt and kill zergs.

Thanks brother, since I share losses too, the especially close or difficult victories are ALWAYS that sweeter. Hopefully it continues to be enjoyable to watch the ebb and flow of a crazy/epic battle like this!
@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions Like you say, it builds more suspense when we don’t know if you win in a video. The eb and flow kind of battles are just pure gold man 👌 I am reallly near the expertise to play with an extra difficulty mod. Just lost a battle with 345 against 1680… feels like I get overrun too quick to change tactics mid battle. But I think i’ll reload the battle to use a crossfire kind of tactic. The killbox failed due to heavy cav trampling my archers out of nowhere. And peekaboo ridge just didn’t work out because of the hill being too small..

The original video was shot BEFORE I was narrating. There is an uploaded video on the channel somewhere with the battle but it's with CC subtitles lol, if you want. I COULD narrate over the old video but it would be strange, play-acting like it was live...
Great video - why does the mic quality seem to drop a little from the intro to gameplay though? Other than that very informative/well made
I'm still pretty new to recording(less than a year), and I'm an older guy so technology sometimes gives me fits. Hopefully I can continue to home it - and I appreciate the kind words!
I knew the firefighter part... but what did you do in the military?
I was active duty Coast guard, as an engineer and firefighter for six years. Not now technically part of the military it was back when I enlisted, and war with Iraq gad CG cutters off the coast of Iraq. I shot guns, but badly (lol)
Can you do a siege assault rather than a siege defense sometime. I was wondering if its possible to use any tactics when assaulting a castle/town.
Working on some 'Epic Siege' Assault, where the defender has 3000+ defending, but for now there are 4-5 videos on the channel about siege assaults... (I'll try and make a playlist at some point).

LOL, I NEED to make that episode. At the end of it there's a guy throwing his controller at a screen and breaking it out of frustration as a summary...

what is your config for Improved AI Troops??
I use a 4.0 daily multiplier. Not sure what the default is...
