Simplicity in this song’s composition makes it even better. The lyrics and vocals are almost poetic and it’s music almost is a separate accompanying theme. I absolutely love this song for those reasons.

other slipknot songs where corey sings instead of screaming are snuff, and til we die and both of those are on the same album all hope is gone. this one and vermillion part 1 are on the album before that one, the subliminal verses

To me it sounds like it’s about a person who made their own perception of someone that they thought they knew/loved. Like was in love with the fantasy they created of the person rather than how the person actually is. Especially the lines “she isn’t real; I can’t make her real” and “she’s a myth that I have to believe in, all I need to make it real, is one more reason”

I gotta recommend that you check out the 80s band that most influenced Slipknot. You gotta check out GWAR - ‘Salaminizer’ but be prepared for crazy. Actually, you could also check out one of the movies that they made. I’d recommend - ‘Phallus In Wonderland.’ 😊😊
