Jeff Buckley changed my life. I bought his album Grace whilst studying music in college and my guitar teacher said that I have the range and tonality of him. I soon came to realise that it was the biggest compliment ever. I listened to this album and all of his live albums non-stop for years. He inspired me so much, helped me gain confidence with performing and showing me that I should play music for me, not for anyone else. Gutted that we lost him in such an awful way. Thank you for your music Jeff!

When I first heard Jeff Buckley, I didn’t how to react. I’d never heard a voice like that before. Quite beautiful and angelic and then can spin almost instantly and turn demonic. A very rare talent. I cried when I heard about his death. A terrible loss to music.

I’m so grateful for having an older sister that loved indie artists back then. I grew up with him since I was just a preteen. While everyone was on nsync, Backstreet Boys, etc I was on Jeff. The mysticism around him and his music is what called to me. Love his influence from India. His father also created one of my fav songs. Long afloat on shipless oceans song… I think it’s called “did I dream” … I wish Jeff would have redone that song. But his relationship with his dad was just too strained.

Jeff, the only man to have ever put a crowd of thousands into a complete trance. There are no real words to describe his art, voice, poetry, beauty... This epitome of awesome must never be forgotten. I have recently got my 7 year old liking some of his stuff...he loves Jeff's cover of "lilac wine".... Please, let have this man and his unique melodic form be remembered and known through our future generations. I've listened to lots of his dad, Tim Buckley, but Jeff far surpassed him with his lungs and vocals and his dark, romantic, sorrowful poetry.... I Ioved how you loved this live version of mojo pin ♥️🇬🇧♥️🇬🇧♥️

I’ve been obsessed with Buckley and his music for over 20 years now. His actual guitar came up for auction back in 2016 and I’d bid over $40k on it before it quickly went out of my financial scope lol. The lead singer of Muse ended up placing the winning bid at $210k and still owns it, I believe.
Another cool little bit of trivia…two of my favorite songs of all time were written by Jeff and his dad, Tim. Jeff’s ‘Lover, You Should’ve Come Over’ is one of the most beautifully written love songs I’ve ever come across. And his dad’s absolutely devastating ‘Song to the Siren’ being the other (check out John Frusciante’s version, it’s phenomenal). Anyway, Elizabeth Frazier of Cocteau Twins fame covered the song, released under This Mortal Coil, but she also dated Jeff for some time and they actually recorded music together. Crazy history.

It's cool that you've just discovered him. I'm a bit older, I'm just one year younger then he was and discovered him at an in house record store to promote Grace in 1994 in Austin, Tx. They did things like that back then, before reality tv garbage and rap, crap. Yea, it was the time of Grunge but I wanted something else and there he appeared. I was hooked right away. I met him after the show cause he greeted people but it was packed with high school and college women. So, my encounter was brief but we exchanged some pleasantries...you never forget something like that ever. He was truly a great singer/musician and his death was a personal tragedy!

I remember hearing a Jeff Buckley song in the late 90s. I was in a car with a friend and they had one song on burned CD. Later that day I went and purchased Grace, started listening to it on the way home. I parked the car in the driveway and turned the key back. I didnt leave my car until I had heard everything.

Many have borne witness: Jeff was one of those rare people who, as soon as he entered a room, everyone in it wanted him. And then he sang…
When the title track from Grace gained rotation on MTV, it was a the rarest revelation. For those of us who got it, he became a lifelong love. Then, just a couple of years later, he was gone.
It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years since he passed. It remains a tragedy that we will never hear more music from him. There is no telling where he would have gone with his stupefying talents.
I saw him live at a festival. He and bassist Mick Grondahl shared a joint on stage, and he seemed a bit tired from a gruelling tour. But he held us in his hand. I will never forget it.

I'm from Spain, it's beautiful to see young people like you discovering & appreciating this pure talent so much years later... it's precious to see your emotions cause I feel the same since I discovered him in '94,, I'm 46 & almost 25 years after he passed I continue to get excited like the first day with the better artist that existed for me, not question of quantity but of quality and emotion, that's what music is supposed to be. Jeff was another level, not only MUSIC, he was something more, and every word, every note I think was a piece of his own SOUL, too much for the general people and that's how it should be, for me this is the secret & this is his GRACE. Congrat...nice girl..

As much as I still love and appreciate his music and what I know of him as a person, I am now SO THANKFUL that I didn't hear him back then because I know that I wouldn't have given him a chance because he didn't fit with what I was into and would have thought "talented but not for me.' I love how in the beginning you talk about him and his style as if it wasn't 30 years ago. He'd be 56 now, and perhaps just as intensely talented, but dismissed by a youth obsessed society. I've been waiting to feel old and obsolete for about 30 years, but it hasn't happened. Because nothing goes away anymore. We don't take our scant expendable income to a record shop and have to choose between something older or something current as our only method to listen. We're not as critical about each other's fashion choices being up to date. Everything is valid and accessible and legitimately made personal by whoever connects with it. The in-crowd doesn't exist (which has brought on the alpha movement and hustle culture trying to force elitist values on all of us). We've become a living intergenerational anthology.
Jeff would still be remarkable, and your reaction would be in keeping with that which brought him up to the stage then.

I discovered him because we analysed his song Grace in A level music class (British version of AP exams for Americans I think) and we were going through his song like we did with a piece of Mozart or Bach, and I believe yes he should be analysed far beyond into the future generations like those classical composers. It’s such a shame he didn’t live passed one studio album, but I guess it’s true he was too beautiful and pure for our Earth.
Any vocalist auditioning in your X Factors etc. always try and belt out loud with big voices - its actually far more talent to control your vocals quietly and control the dynamics as emotionally and masterfully as Jeff could, that’s why he’s my favourite singer.

He sang Mojo Pin after Morning Theft but his banter with the crowd inbetween songs he sums it up perfectly. So hard to win over a Glastonbury crowd on a shitty day. And the distance between him and the crowd was something he struggled with, he wanted to get amongst it, that's his style. I could go on for days about Jeff. Literally. No one would indulge me, which is probably for the good, but I could. He is probably my favorite all time musician. He had the most beautiful voice I've ever heard. He was a bard, a troubadour with an impish grin and a Puckish persona. He was such a beautiful human being. When he died a part of me went with him and I am not being hyperbolic here. I was deeply depressed for about 9 months. I listened to him every single day from first hearing him in 94' until he died, may 29th, 1997. I could not *accept* that he was gone. But his music is his legacy and his live performances are incendiary. There is something truly otherworldly that happens when you see live recordings of him. He has that "It" factor they talk about. That raw charisma or star power that is so rare. Michael Jackson had it in addition to his talent. So did Jeff. The fact that he looked like a Greek god did not hurt him either lol. I am so glad you discvered him. I am always shocked how virtually no one knows him lol. I mean he is possibly the most gifted singer in the history of rock. I know Chris Cornell, Bono, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, Thom Yorke and Brad Pitt all think so.
    Take care.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard of a band called bright eyes and their lead singer Conor Oberst, while he doesn’t have a traditionally great voice or anything, you might have a hard time adjusting to his voice since as you’ve mentioned, vocals are the main thing for you, but very emotive, gut wrenching (at times) songwriting , probably in my top 5 fav artists, definitely worth checking if you have the time, maybe start with their album ‘’i’m wide awake it’s morning’’, they even released a new album i. 2020 which was very good as well “down in the weeds, where the world once was”
Great video again and sorry for blabbering!

I recall reading about his rise to stardom back in the late 90's and there was a line that always made me laugh:
"The French fell for him hard."

Hi Tiara. I love all the effort you put on your videos. I'd love to see you talking about Juan Gabriel; he was a mexican singer-songwriter and still one of the best musicians born on this planet.
    Keep it up

Been a fan since 90’s (my 20’s) and not a month goes by (usually that time of month 😂) that I’m playing Grace album. Just occured to me after being obsessed with Børns the last year or so that there seems to be some Jeff in Garret Born’s music soul!

When he released Grace, I was floored like you. His death hit me hard because I was expecting to hear many more albums from him. The other artist that shook me just as much is Morphine. Listen to In Spite of Me. Another artist that was taken far too early.

    Oh, MAN.
I’m only in my 30’s, but it’s so…surreal…seeing someone a bit younger discover legends from my childhood.
There are SO many equally amazing (and usually tragic) talents from that era, that people just 7-10 years removed are seemingly unaware of. The period shunned pomp, banality, and inauthenticity. The result, was art that was raw, and rich with emotional weight.
Buckley was one of a kind, but if you keep digging in that era, you’re going to find other artists that are just as mind-blowing; in both their talent and originality. There are many more one-of-a-kinds, from the same time

JEFF BUCKLEY is an angel. I'm so happy he sent to New York for his dad remembrance show.
I actually play every instrument, but vocals 😪is not my thing. I actually ripped all my pictures of him. Because I couldn't hit those notes.
I CAN NOW. Not as good tho. But he taught me everything with vocals.
Mojo pin from Japanese show is better than Glastonbury. Even tho I LOVED IT AS WELL.

This man was and is my Elvis. I was a teenager when he hit the scene and I just knew. He became the Holy Spirit in my trinity of teenage musical adoration. God and the Son being Tori Amos and Fiona Apple respectively. Jeff was a poet and had the voice of a horny angel. I hope there's a heaven, cause I know he's playing a holy dive bar right now.

Back around year 2000 I bought Sketches in a record store, and the clerk was almost overly complementing me for my taste in music, but the only reason I bought it was because I couldnt find Grace in the store but didnt want to admit it.

Jeff is a must listen. He is the epitome of the tortured soul. Please check out Martin Sexton, Jimmy Gnecco and Reeve Carney (Live at Molly Malones). Grab some popcorn and kleenex 😅. Martin sexton I've seen live double digits. Huge Buckley fan. Listen to his live albums. Jaw dropping. Also search for his song "can't stop thinking about you" with John Mayer. Insane...

There has never been, and will never be anything like him. It blows my mind that we lost not only Kurt Cobain but Jeff as well. He really was the "other" voice of our generation.

So Jeff's live album "Mystery White Boy tour" has some different stuff when he toured Europe, solid live album not talked about for some reason even though he released so little. And im curious if you've ever heard of the singer SAM COOKE ? it doesnt get much smoother than that man for old school soul. "YOU SEND ME" is one on my favorites hes known for.

I LOVE this song and this performance so very much. It kind of makes some of his other stuff seem almost bland, (as if that were really possible!). He is in my top three vocalist, in category only with Freddy Mercury and Joni Mitchell. Awesome reaction!
