The drummer Tommy Aldridge deserves a shout out also. One of my favorites! I saw and met Pat Travers at the Rio hotel in Vegas in 1994. The Rio had a promotion on Monday where you would watch the NFL game then they would have a band play afterwards at Club Rio. Vegas isn't the same anymore. $1 dollar beers back in the day.
"Born Under a Bad Sign" is one of my favorites from Pat Travers Band. Give it a listen and you'll most definitely enjoy. Screaming bluesy type guitar in that version he does.
You guys had me at "Pat Travers", took my right back to my college days in the late '70's. Blistering guitars and mad "on the nose" lyrics - whew! I burn 752 calories every time I hear it. High Octane would be correct, baby!
Pat Travers Band was excellent live. Another great Canadian rocker during the Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush years. I saw Pat with Rainbow. It was a great show.
True story I love telling. Rush was my 1st concert (1981, Dallas). We got 2nd row right in front of Alex. TEN DOLLARS. Anyway, when the warm up band was playing, this guy was sitting in front of us (front row) & is talking to us. There were empty seats around him & he was by himself. He said "people say I look like Pat Travers". We're thinking "yeah, whatever," Then a little bit later, this guy walks up to him & gives him a brown grocery bag and walks off. He showed us & it was FULL of weed. So then we started looking at him & he did look like him. Also, he had been in town, so I'm like 99.999% sure it was him.
@@terrygarcia897 (80s chick 😃). We were young (high school) and it was 3 of my friends & I. Keep in mind it was 1981... we all 4 wore white tube tops. 🤣 That's pretty cool you were there! Reunion Arena...one of my most favorite memories.
I saw him in concert in 1980 in Charleston West Virginia-Before the concert he played at a record store He was very nice and somewhere I have a picture Unfortunately did not make it to the Concert too much snortin whiskey and drinking cocaine lol He was very nice at the record store and I met him in Florida 20 years later and he was just as nice A great rocker
The song are not from the same album,,,, Boom Boom was earlier,,, and also on his live album. Snortin’ came out after both of these on “Crash and burn…”
You guys rock! I haven't heard this song in a very long time. Amazing you reacted to it!!! And BJ, I'm pretty sure Pat was higher than the guitar 😂 unless everybody was snortin that whiskey off the guitar- then, who knows. Haha Much love y'all. Peace
Lets hear it for another great Canadian guitarist! Saw him in the early seventies in a band called Red Hot at a small venue called the green door. High octane for sure!
This album has the best low end mix I've ever heard. Not sure without looking it up who engineered the sound but it's master class. Not even Black Sabbath, Van Halen, or any other band had the mix this album brought to the table at this time. It wasn't until 'In the Air Tonight' by Phil Collins that another studio style (drum mixing in this case) was so influential.
Quite interesting! I’ve always appreciated his guitar work. He had another guitarist onstage when I saw him named Pat Thrall I think. He was as good or even better than Travers on the axe!
one of my favorite songs performed by one of my favorite bands... also I met him four times and he's an awesome guy. yeah check out boom boom I'll go the lights off of the live go for what you know album.. another favorite of mine is "Gettin Betta" or "Makes No Difference ". Pat travers always gets the funk out !!
I remember my older brother jamming this song early in the morning practicing his bass. It’s just a great bluesy rock tune! Definitely “Boom Boom Out Goes the Lights” “Crash and Burn” “Is This Love?” Great songs!
Have seen him a few times. First time with drummer Tommy Aldridge (Black Oak Arkansas, Ozzy, Whitesnake,Thin Lizzy). Love his aggressive attack. Deep dive please. He’s definitely a player who lets you know he’s in the room!🤘😎
Underrated Canadian Guitar Rocker ALWAYS Tore-Up Arena Rock Shows in the 80s. Rock Bands Loved Having Him Open Their Shows. Like: *April Wine, Triumph, Harlequin, Max Webster, Honeymoon Suite and Alice Cooper*
OMG! I was just a young boy when I first heard this song.i boy that the record and played it every day. Thank you for reacting to this badass song. I hope you like it.
Just run into your channel, was going through your playlist and never have I ever seen anybody do a pat travers reaction. I've been a Pat Travers fan since the late 70s.
Oh HELL yeah - this banger is on my daily favorites! Great recommendation and you guys knocked the reaction out of the park! Only thing I'd add is he said she wouldn't bring him down - he was going to keep the party goin! Similar genre as Ted Nugent for me
Thank you Soooo Much for this!!!!!! I dare you to find anything harder than this from that era. Late 70's ... please do Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights) from his live Go For What You Know release. Makes No Difference (studio version) Pat is a rocking' monster and is bands always kick ass!
Wife here..., One of my Husband's Favorite bands...!!!...U2 ALWAYS get that meaning quick!!!...Love to watch you two discover and 😉 enjoy these Awesome new bands...."A party song to the 10th degree..".Asia.you are soo right!!....High Octane ..Perfectly said BJ
I've seen these guys about 5 times and they always kicked ass. Saw them at Tarrant county convention center in fort Worth in 78 Also saw them 3 times at the back room in the early 90s in Austin. These guys will definitely rock your socks off.
The song title was inspired by a band member who arrived late and “impaired” to a rehearsal. He said “sorry I’m late, Pat - I’ve been snorting whiskey and drinking cocaine!”
A great old Pat Travers song (one of Many) is "Evie". For a much newer cut: "Black Dog Blues". Either song is guaranteed to get you up & stomping around. Unless you're wearing headphones I guess...
Awesome!!! Badass rock-blues. Big influence on my guitar playing when I started. The whole album with this song is just fantastic. Legendary band Mr. Travers put together for the album.
I was one of those mentioning Pat Travers more than once! I love this artist. The man’s a beast on the guitar! I saw him open for Cheap Trick in the late 70’s and he blew them off the stage! Try “Life In London.”
Two songs from this album pretty much defined me and my wife when we met... I loved this tune and she loved Stevie! We got fun because we actually loved both, but as one might imagine, I was the partier in this equation where she was the nurturer... It worked very well for almost forty years until she got fed up with my antics. That was when I was 63!!! I still like getting rowdy, but I'm not as good as I used to be if one might imagine...
That’s sad story. The party was there eons before you arrived and it will keep going on long after you are gone. It doesn’t need maintaining. Love, however, needs constant work and is well worth it when the other person is a perfect match.
Okay this is such a treat to watch you guys listen to Pat Travers for the first time! He is quite amazing I'm glad you're enjoying it. As usual you guys rock!
oh wow! how did y'all come across Pat Travers?!?! now that's a DEEP CUT choice of musician 👍👍Crash and Burn, Black Pearl are couple of good choices from him👍👍👍
Yes! Pat Travers was one of the best live bands back then. Mars, Thrall, Aldridge. Crazy lineup. Tommy, one of my biggest influences. Still blow this out in my truck occasionally.
Absolutely, FIRE !!! Pat Travers rocks !!! Now for more. Songs from this album, Crash and Burn still find their way into my musical rotation. Others songs like, BORN UNDER A BAD SIGN CRASH AND BURN, and even the cover of Bob Marley's classic, IS THIS LOVE? still sound great from this album from 198o. Rock on !! Or as BJ says, Dig it without a shovel. Just open your mind and your ears. Enjoy.
Two Hot Guitars! Pat Travers and Pat Thrall (who co-wrote the song). Definitely about being so high you don't know whether you're Snortin' Whiskey or Drinkin' Cocaine!!
Pat did live the true rock and roll life, which ultimately led to him being a 1 hit wonder with a few albums. Crash and burn is one of my favorite Travers tunes...but it's not a head banger, more blues
Sup Asia & BJ??? Pat Travers another great guitarist from 🇨🇦! You also need to get some Frank Marino "Something's Comin Our Way" live at the Agora Theater, epic performance!! Much love from SETX ✌️ ☮️ 🎶🎸❤️🇱🇷
as the story goes --- even before his first album came about -- he entangled with the record exec to do it his way but they said no -- so they back-balled him -- meaning no where in the record industry he can make a deal -- so it was rough from the get go ... but today -- he's a legend on his guitar skills ... (fact) ...
Had dinner with him and his wife and acquaintance and friends in 2000 at Orlando House of Blues restaurant side before him playing that stage in there . Kind of a VIP style gig that night. Amazing time . He actually slipped up on guitar a couple times dont know if some one threw him off or not but I play guitar so I noticed. LOL its nothing though , it happens to the best
You need to hear him do boom boom out go the lights both songs are old blue's tunes by famous black artists yell should know that by them lyrics anyway Pat Traverse also did a version of born under a bad sign, one of the greatest blue's songs ever written in my opinion.
One of the best live bands in the day! Boom Boom Out Go The Lights is a must listen from PT!
I saw them at the Spectrum in Philly. I couldn't remember his music till I watched this video. This jogged my memory.......crazy guitar solos.
Saw him when he opened for Ted Nugent in Kalamazoo Mi
"Boom, Boom, Out Go The Lights" Hell Yeah y'all
Yes, absolutely!
If I get her in my sights, come on, what is it
I’m old enough to have seen PT in concert more than once. His band was great live.
Same here !!😊
Pat Travers "Boom, Boom, Out go the lights" live, is the best.
I saw him in concert recently and even in his 60s, this man was just flat out amazing
Yeah he was a contender
In the guitar world. To go see him at a club was a treat! As a musician.
You MUST listen to Pat Traverse's Crash and Burn and Boom Boom Out Go The Lights.... You'll love both guaranteed!!
Pat travers rocks with a new album. STILL rocking and touring at 68
One of my favorite songs while powerlifting. Been listening since it first was released. This is ROCK.
Oh yeah...a personal favorite. Love the whole "Crash and Burn" LP..."Is This Love" (Marley cover), "Born Under a Bad Sign," and "Crash n Burn" itself.
I saw the Pat Travers band a few times back in the day and in 2006. He's an all around bad ass musician. A blues man.
"Born Under a Bad Sign" is one of my favorites from Pat Travers Band. Give it a listen and you'll most definitely enjoy. Screaming bluesy type guitar in that version he does.
Pat Travers....the man!! Thumbs up and thank you for this nice review. You were really into it....🎶
Yessss! Pat Travels is so underrated it's criminal
You guys had me at "Pat Travers", took my right back to my college days in the late '70's. Blistering guitars and mad "on the nose" lyrics - whew! I burn 752 calories every time I hear it. High Octane would be correct, baby!
Man, that brought back memories of my childhood! I had forgotten his guitar chops!!!
P.S. I love your 100K subs canvas behind you!
The mighty Pat Travers. I grew up with Pat. First album I bought of his back in 1977 was 'Makin Magic'. The title track is a Pat Travers classic.
Fantastic band, Pat Thrall, Tommy Aldridge, Mars Cowling... They were a machine...
Pat Travers Band was excellent live. Another great Canadian rocker during the Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush years. I saw Pat with Rainbow. It was a great show.
Saw Pat in a small bar in Folsom Ca. It was the LOUDEST band I have ever seen. It is most definitely an "in your face" song.
I totally agree Pats studio stuff always had that powerful punch to it!
Quite interesting! I’ve always appreciated his guitar work. He had another guitarist onstage when I saw him named Pat Thrall I think. He was as good or even better than Travers on the axe!
Heat In The Street is pretty good, too. Mars going all in.
Saw Pat live Vancouver in 86 he kicked ass !!
I’ve seen Pat Travers at least 15-20 times. Back in the day he had one baddass bass player named Mars Cowling.

"Bad boy rock 'n' roll" I like that name for a musical genre. The 70's was full of bad boy rock 'n' roll.
I remember seeing him in a small bar in the Sacramento area in 2000. Older, but bold as hell!
