Very true! I live in a very small town And ONE PERSON purchased tickets that took up 8 HOURS WORTH OF THE LOTTERY MACHINE TO PRINT OUT!!! Everyone in line had 2 go 2 a different place 2 purchase lottery...while I was just getting milk. LOL..but damn 8hrs! 🥴😬😳

@@jonathangarcia5219 no, no they don’t. The odds of winning stay exactly the same. It doesn’t matter how many tickets are purchased, each one has the exact same odds of winning. What DOES change is the more tickets purchased the more chance more than one will hit and split the pot.

You get taxes x2 + you get taxed again at a higher tax bracket so in reality you would have around $300m lump sum after taxes - that would be hard to go broke still lol
It's not that hard to imagine. One of the first things people say they would spend their winnings on is usually a very expensive house and car(s). If you wanted to live in a high-end real estate market, for example, NYC you could blow a large chunk of your winnings right there, and if the prize was at the normal lottery level (instead of a billion) you might end up spending all of it especially if you didn't opt for a lump sum payment of your winnings.

I told my mother winning the lottery would be the worst thing for people. You can never go back to living a normal life after.
Not just that, people who have won have had people jump in front of their vehicles/block them in their driveways and parking spaces (trying to get them to run them over), purposefully fall on their property and such to try to get a lawsuit. It's like having a giant target painted on you for every kind of criminal and psychopath. I have no idea why some states won't let you collect anonymously.

You'll get increasing annual payments starting at roughly $12 million and each year it goes up by like $2-3 million a year. That's a lot and you get more out of it. Leave it to family or whoever incase you die

I am a non-conformist! Buying a lottery ticket when the award is astronomical is probably the only time I follow the crowd. I purposely limit my purchase to the newsworthy drawings of mega-money winnings and would absolutely NEVER buy more than one ticket per drawing since I am not a gambler. I realize the odds of winning are almost impossible and subsequently, a waste of money. I also realize if I had a distorted view of the probabilities of winning, I would be playing multiple lotteries and multiple tickets for every drawing, since, winning say ten million would be far more manageable and technically the odds are better than a one billion dollar drawing, but, that would be normalizing the impossible odds. You would be of the belief that if you play multiple numbers for every drawing, eventually, you will win one, which is obviously not true. So my only reason to play is for fun, a lark, to indulge in some silly fantasy before the drawing, maybe I even get off on standing in line with other people buying their "dream ticket" as being the one time I allow myself to be part of the crowd, and to conform for about as long as I'm a potential winner...

I was talking about this last night with my guy. I don’t even purchase tickets but when he asked what I would do, I’m like purchase a home far away from the cities, and put a reasonable amount away for our kids education and our necessities. That’s it. The rest can go to others who need it too.

For Example, AT&T stock pays an 8.8% dividend. If you invest 1 billion you'd receive 88 million a year in dividend payments, not including the growth of the actual stock itself. Now that's not the most logical way to invest that much money but it's just an example.

Why not just take the payments and take a equity loan on the value of what you about to receive? Actually you can just start depositing the money into your life insurance and borrow from yourself interest-free and tax free. Then buy commercial and residential properties because space is limited. With the extra income I would start buying up more assets to diversify my portfolio mainly into blue chips that I believe in and a whole lot of gold.
