When you think about it, for the the few who are able to live as Rogue Trader, it is one of the few occupations in the Imperium where one can essentially not just be free, but can live out as close as one to a peaceful lifestyle in a galaxy at perpetual war. Its responsibility is as powerful as the rewards where you are free to express yourself and give back to the Imperium as you see fit and revel in it. @@TheCorrodedMan the novels have shown many times finding planets that have been separated for thousands of years due to warp storms and such. Also Rogue traders find frontier worlds all the time. So it's very possible.
I’m pretty sure that’s exactly what 1st edition 40K was about. You had a highly customised set of characters, your world was limited by imagination and it played more like a D&D campaign with minis and scenery and actual combat rules instead of a DM rolling a couple of dice to resolve all conflicts.

Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Rogue Traders. Its mission: to explore strange new worlds. To seek out new life and new civilizations be they human or xenos. To boldly go where no man has gone before!
Rogue Trader's are one of my favourite aspects of 40k lore. I love how they can get away with a lot of things that'd even get an Inquisitor into trouble
"Some can be dated back to the dawn of the Imperium, and they have the literal God-Emperor of Mankind's signature on them." Carcharadons: "We require serfs, give yourselves up or you will die." - Said to a Rogue Trader on the fringes of the Milky Way.

Wait just a moment..." **Winterscale violently boards the Inquisition ship, fights his way to the Inquisitor, grabs him by the throat, headbutts the Inquisitor's teeth out of his mouth, grabs one of the inquisitor's fingers in a tight grip with one hand and puts his power axe against the Inquisitor's chest with the other** *Caligos Winterscale:* "I'm sorry, my hearing isn't what it used to be so could you repeat: _How much did you want to be made into a cautionary example on a scale of 1-10 again?"_
Heck I'd LOVE to see a Dogs of War equivalent thing in Warhammer 40K i.e. official support for all kinds of SPACE mercenaries. Especially now with the whole *Great Rift thing* and the Imperium being split down the middle, it's the perfect time for mercenaries to thrive, xenos, "rouge" human armies, minor factions and etc.!
Besides the black and white military fraction, this really sounds like a versetile colorfull part of the 40k universe. I see high potential for adventures, rpg and TV shows. Maybe one day.
I want an RPG game where you are a Rogue Trader and you go around the undiscovered places in the Galaxy. Meeting brand new threat and get some Xeno and imperial companions. Basically Mass Effect in 40k and Rogue Trader unlike Inquisitor can have Xeno companions. Imagine Necron Garrus or Ork Wrex. Of course we also need Tecp-Priestess Tali and we are good to go. Also maybe add a Kroot or Ogryn as well. Also since Rogue Traders are discovering new planets the story can be completely separate from any major events and threat could be anything. Perfect 40k game material.
Cheers for this video, rogue traders are great! Could you do a follow-up vid about some notable rogue traders? For instance Daussen (discovers the Squats, Inquisition wants them destroyed initially), Elucia Vhane (Mistress of the Black Flag, suspected by the Inquisition of killing a load of governors) or Janus Draik (an LHO-stick smoking Xenologist going rogue cleansing and 'claiming' the 7th Blackstone Fortress). I noticed people asking for Jokaero, Zoat and Men of Iron lore videos. Still recommending the Blackstone Fortress novels as in the last Ascension novel both the Zoat and (alcoholic) Jokaero get some human interaction, UR-025 (men of iron) pops up in Vaults of Obsidian. In multiple novels there are interactions between a female Aeldari Ranger (Amallyn Shadowguide), a rogue trader and a crazy ministorum priest (Taddeus the Purifier). Just the Ascension novel alone would give a lot of content for a lore video, as most of its contents have not made it to the wikis, reddit or lexicanum.

Thank you very much for doing this video. I've been into 40k for almost 20 years, and because I couldn't afford an army at first, then didn't have people to play it with after, I got rather into the lore. When I found Fantasy Flight Games' Dark Heresy, I was rather excited...until their partner line Rogue Trader crossed my table. Inquisitors and Rogue Traders have always been among my favorite humans, with their sheer range of options, and doing everything as 'just a human, but while DH requires a second book, and significant upscale to the Challenge Rating to let you be an actual Inquisitor, Rogue Trader just let's you start as one, AND then gives you a free spaceship. For most of these 20 years, the men and women who bear the title of the original game, and who can touch the most advanced tech, the biggest ships, and the holiest, or most benighted places, have been my favorite thing in Warhammer 40k, and so to get to see a video about them, when 40k, as an IP, rarely looks at such elements, is great. Thanks again, both from myself, and the Qel-Drake Dynasty!
just randomly stumbling on the lore and then playing a little Darktide and vermintide (Warhammer fantasy) on Game pass got me into it. Definitely interested in playing Rogue Trader too. I don't think I could get into the tabletop game, but the lore is really cool.
Imagine been part of a Rouge trader family lineage whos status was giving by the big E himself with a contract sighed by him. Dude that would be fucking sick you would be untouchable it would be a relic in is own right probably in a stasis field. In the world of 40K been a Rouge Trader or a planetary governor is probably the best you can hope for.
Right? if I was somehow unfortunate enough to be born in this universe I'd want to be a trader lol. plus traveling around the galaxy and trading just sounds kinda cool.
If I had the option of living in the WH 40K universe, I would pick "Fuck No". If I did not have a choice, I would want to be Rogue Trader or Leagues of Votan member as a close 2nd choice.
I fucking hate you guys in my campaigns against Sylvannia or Von Carsteins. Not too mention your cavalry counterparts the Black Knights and Blood Knights.
I swear I would give a bollock for a really good Rogue Trader RPG video game. Space combat, squad combat, boarding actions, diplomacy, companions and crew, xenos and the freedom to decide what kind of RT you are, a sort of (Not full) galaxy map to explore... Put it in my VEINS. Pls.
Rogue Traders are by far the best faction, I wish they made a video game based on one. Could you imagine? Playing as a Rogue Trader, captain of your own fleet. Getting to play different roles and styles based on your preference. Get to do what you want with reckless abandon. I like to think it'd play kinda like a Mass Effect game. Mostly the dialog part.
So one thing I'm really confuse about this is why has anyone not made a video game where you play as a Rogue Trader? Just this alone would be an awesome sci fi RPG game where you and your crew members of mix xenos and humans are free to trade, explore, pillage, built diplomatic relationship or destroy all over the WH40K galaxy in the name of the Imperium of Man while still able to have some sexy time with some big titty Eldar waifu.
Had an idea for a Rogue Trader and retinue. Beastman/mutant given a Warrant of Trade by a planetary governor for service rendered to them during a Chaos Invasion. Sound extreme? PG may also use it as a way to get rid of ALL, or as close to, of the Beastmen/Mutants on their planet as the Beastmen/Mutant Rogue Trader would be imbecilic to not offer his fellows a ride out of the squalor they normally live in AKA they are a built in retinue and all they have to do is ask. Obviously, the major problem is the inability to actually trade without coming in contact with the majority who would likely A) confuse them for xeno or B) kill them for being mutants. This could be solved by having a mostly human looking seneschal, however. So what do you all think?

just randomly stumbling on the lore and then playing a little Darktide and vermintide (Warhammer fantasy) on Game pass got me into it. Definitely interested in playing Rogue Trader too. I don't think I could get into the tabletop game, but the lore is really cool.
The Rogue Trader he mentioned about the eldar artifacts and a templar actually forged his letter of marque.lol
What a Chad

-Rogue Trader Malcom
I've just recently found this chanel. This is the earliest I've watched a video. 8 hours after upload. I must be catching up
Thanks the vid mate, Rouge trader game comming out soon needed this to catch up.
It's all fun and games until you discover Conrad Kurze floating in a cosmic fridge. Not a good day to be a rogue trader.
Rouge Traders - next video will be on the Dark Angles ;)
Just dont call them "Dangles"
Imagine been part of a Rouge trader family lineage whos status was giving by the big E himself with a contract sighed by him. Dude that would be fucking sick you would be untouchable it would be a relic in is own right probably in a stasis field. In the world of 40K been a Rouge Trader or a planetary governor is probably the best you can hope for.
Definitely one of the best jobs in Grimdark
Right? if I was somehow unfortunate enough to be born in this universe I'd want to be a trader lol. plus traveling around the galaxy and trading just sounds kinda cool.
GW can make a good live action show about these Traders if the guy who made Pirates of Caribbean was in on it.
I wonder what is Big E's signature.. Is it just signed "Emperor" or "The Emperor"? Lol
Imma say it. Rogue.
Oh boy a video by my third favorite 40k lore channel
I chose to follow the Dogmatic trait tree in the Rogue Trader CRPG. So I was a missionary I guess.
If I had the option of living in the WH 40K universe, I would pick "Fuck No". If I did not have a choice, I would want to be Rogue Trader or Leagues of Votan member as a close 2nd choice.
Captain harlock would fit as a rogue trader.
Commenting for the algorithm
I fucking hate you guys in my campaigns against Sylvannia or Von Carsteins. Not too mention your cavalry counterparts the Black Knights and Blood Knights.
"Comments for the algorithm god's! Views for the recommendation throne!"
Hey, Majorkill, not sure if I'm wrong, but I think it's supposed to be 'rogue', not 'rouge'? I thought rouge was a color.
Rouge means red in french yes. The commies in cambodia were called khmer rouge.
@@666Kaca Ahh, I see. Thanks for the info, mate!
Me seeing Majorkill spell rogue "rouge": this must be a meme. Obviously.
.... yes.... obviously
Shit
@@majorkill Roll with it huh? :D
O look a video about suducing space ships-
Yeeah! I've been looking forward to this one!
Personally one of favorite videos lately
The Roque trader crpg Is so good.
Our Aussie host should stream it if he has the patience for that
I could definitely see majorkill as a rogue trader
I like this version of warhammer story telling / explaining
Honestly if your both a inquisitor and a Rogue trader you are unstoppable.
This one's for the mighty space sea. Mischief. Gold. And piracy.

Ah, I see. Just because Dora the exploradora here does not need to wear an eyepatch, does not mean she won't wear an eyepatch!
Pls.
Anyone else notice that the emblem for the Rouge Trader was the Strange Music symbol
I'll bet you're happy now huh
I'm...Red-dy... for this Rouge Trader video.
I have never ever been this earlier to a video
So one thing I'm really confuse about this is why has anyone not made a video game where you play as a Rogue Trader? Just this alone would be an awesome sci fi RPG game where you and your crew members of mix xenos and humans are free to trade, explore, pillage, built diplomatic relationship or destroy all over the WH40K galaxy in the name of the Imperium of Man while still able to have some sexy time with some big titty Eldar waifu.
Because GW hates fun.
they have now
Had an idea for a Rogue Trader and retinue.
Guilliman's 100 rogue traders would make a great new book series.
