You have to consider the context and not judge old music/fashion by today's standards. We would not have what we have today if not for what came before. That biker shorts look was very stylish back then, and a decent rap in an R&B song was an innovative choice. Bobby was the edgy New Edition member, and the "Don't Be Cruel" album reflects that. It is definitely a Classic and had huge crossover success. I was in high school in LA when the album came out, and it was an amazing time with so much rich culture! I love to watch young people react to music and movies from the past because they usually have an appreciation for/interest in understanding "the old" that laid the foundation of what they now enjoy. Your tone came off kind of negative and condescending. You don't have to like everything, but to act like something is just stupid, not considering the context of the time, is a limited point of view and not that fun to watch. Sorry to put you on blast, but I would like your channel to do well. Reactors who have the most success do not criticize; they observe, analyze and reflect.
@@thatwasavibe7801 , I don't know who is who and I don't quite remember. Sorry, I have seen a lot of reactions since then. It was not the conclusion, as much as the tone. No offense intended by my comment.
Men were so confident and comfortable with themselves back then that wearing biker shorts wasn't a big deal. Everything is perceived as gay nowadays, which is just so ignorant and pathetic honestly. They transitioned to loud colors and baggy clothes in the 90s. People were definitely more stylish then than they are now.
You both need to realize that "biker shorts" was the thing in the late 1980's. I'm laughing at the rappers today wearing Gucci purses and such.
Right!
Exactly!!!
You guys didn't watch the entire song, it goes on for over a minute after that. Those biker shorts were very cool back in 1989.
Certified classic! 💃🏾

You guys are totally right about the unnecessary rap added to the single. It was NOT on the original album version.
