- A Portage man led Michigan State Police on a 10-minute chase from Comstock Township through downtown Kalamazoo on April 15, 2021.
The chase went the wrong way through Kalamazoo’s busy one-way streets.
The suspect, Jeremy Thrasher, 22, was wanted for an April 13 shooting. He crashed his vehicle on North Park Street and fled on foot, before he was caught and arrested.
He is awaiting a preliminary examination and faces multiple felony charges related to the shooting and chase.

Cop starting to get out at 0:27 is extremely lucky he didn't get his legs crushed when the suspect hit the driver door.
Actually their leg was crushed if you watch it more slowly. They start to get out, the car backs up and hits their door. It starts to close but stops due to the leg. It slams on that leg and opens up again a little. Whoever that person is, they were injured good I bet.

I have to notice and praise the citizens of this city for honouring the sirens and pulling over! Not what most chase videos show.

Yeah bro Michigan state police scare me you know my fat ass gonna pull into the god damn Walmart to get out of his way if he’s coming with lights and sirens on
@@macforme I work one of the buildings they passed downtown. I can say that on most days you won't find such kind drivers. Especially on the north side. People are wild out here. Not sure where they guy thought he was going to escape.. he literally got out on foot 1 street over from the KDPS training station.

This cop is an OG man he was NOT letting this dude get away.
Hes a Michigan State Trooper, most of them are a higher caliber compared to city and county here in Michigan from my experience.
You were obviously watching a different video than I was. He lost him and someone else made the arrest.
What do you mean 'not letting this dude get away'? You mean failing to block a parked car with 3 police cars?
At 7:48 he seems to give up chasing him.

Shame he didn’t tell all the other cops where he was then, only gave updates when he was asked by dispatch, team work clearly not in his vocabulary, if it wasn’t for the fact that he drove into where the other cops were he could have easily got away.
This officer needs better training on dialogue in pursuit, landmarks, speed of travel and other information that the rest can use to head him off.
Officer gets high marks for managing as he did. High stress and dangerous job. God bless you sir!
Those idiot cops could have stopped him in the beginning. Instead, the two police officers behind him got out and tried to reach the car on foot.

WTF, 5 units surrounding him and still gets away at the store
How many LEO classes have you taken? Tsk, tsk, tsk ..,
Okay. So the suspect was Black. Just wondering if you have seen how the cops are being crucified by both public, and media, if they are seen in the least, to be applying more pressure than the court of public opinion thinks they should? This fact in itself is making cops a bit tentative when dealing with Blacks.
@@KCBarr1 Or probably because they shot someone as stated in the video.

Kalamazoo needs to invest in cars that have proper acceleration. This cop car was beat by a Kia.

@@rambosperm Ohhh i see. That's very weird. I just assumed the car doing the chasing was the same as the other ones I saw here 5:46 and 5:52. So I'm guessing those were local police cars and the dashcam one is state. I was just confused, but now I'm enlightened.
Was the first responding officer injured or something? He sounds at points distressed? Or maybe he is just stressed, either way good job sir,you are appreciated.

On no…don’t bang up the new vehicles.
Can someone explain the "stop" on the hood? Is it to warn when they cross intersections? Doesn't seem like it would be very effective in that aspect.
I was wondering that too! I feel like it should be facing forward to tell the driver to stop?
Maybe it's for when they are blocking off roads or something but idk I'm wondering the same thing.
Maybe it’s an inside joke, maybe they did it for fun
It’s tradition. The Michigan State Police used to put them on Bikes and they would pull alongside a car and flash that little stop sign
it's an old tradition they're too stupid too change. they also only have a huggggeeee dome rotator light instead of a light bar
Lmaoo 4:35 could have been a good movie scene... That old person just riding their bike and then a police chase comes out of no where and does a pit maneuver right in front of you and keeps going like nothing happened 🤣🤣🤣🔥🔥
Love the "stop" sign on the bonnet
Dang that Kia was faster than the cop car lol
Could've all been avoided if they didn't block him like a bunch of first graders playing GTA when they're at the gasstation

Love the camera view, it's like a movie. Reminds me of that chase scene in Extraction 💯
This should have ended at the store when they had him pinned the cop with the dash cam should have pulled forward to pin him from behind.
I like the stop sign thing on the hood. Smart. Wonder how well it works? Assuming its to assist when approaching an intersection.
it'll make me stop whatever I'm doing, lmao
@@mariosolis5121
lol :)
It's actually used to pull people over - that's it.
Of course only if deemed safe by the trooper (so no felony stops), and if road conditions (mainly interstates or other 4-lane highways, multi-lane roads) allow pulling up halfway parallel to the vehicle of the traffic violator/infractionist or suspect of a minor crime, assuring that the then lit (I assume blinking) sign looms next to the driver's, left or right, depending on in which lane the culprit/sinner/citizen is traveling.
This rather complicated, redundant method (by today's standards) is more or less a left over tradition, relic, dating back to the 40's (maybe even 30's?!) - at that time actually practical & effective, due to lackluster flashing lights, absence of electronic, variable siren sounds, P.A. systems;
and now unique to the
Michigan State Police.
Another totally old-school, ultra retro stand-alone-"feature" of theirs:
It's the only agency with just a single beacon 🚨 (instead of a light bar) on the roofs of their marked cars (both sedans and SUVs).
@@BC-he2be And this is why I love my State. I don't think there's any other Agency in the world with our Unique state Style. Sure it looks fucking weird and even ugly to a lot of people. But it's completely unique to us!
Its actually a tradition that they still use today, they used to have signs like this on the front fenders of their motorcycles from the 1920's to the 1930's......
If their department wasn't defunded I'm sure they would have had air control in the skies and not even needed to chase him
That cop is one good driver
Agreed! I would’ve gotten into a ten car accident after the first 5 seconds. Glad we have officers like these
Monday morning QB. Please call streets, hundred block, speed and direction. Sorry guys retired LEO 32 years here. Are they allowed to pit?
Right! Don't call out the street 2 seconds before he's turning off it.

What the fuck is that thing on the cops car, a extra light lol
What's the use of fleeing, when you are caught after all? I will never understand what's the use of that. Just stop and be arrested, that's a fair thing to do.
Pedal machine? Or is the steering wheel mechanical? With such shortness of breath behind the wheel, grandfather is a centenarian?
The officer is making sounds like he's injured. Maybe pulled something while avoiding that maniac when he backd up.
Adrenaline dump he didn't even realize the light was red til he was in the intersection
for me it did sound like hes footchasing the kia.
He needed a shit.
Most unsafe police chase i've seen from an officer. He almost pitted the suspect into a civilian on a bike at 4:45 , locks up his brakes an almost crashes into a car at 4:22 and drives over jumps in road all the time with unsafe speed. I'm an amateur track driver for over 15 years, its easy to see how the car almost loses traction some times over the jumps, and if there is a civilian on the other side of that jump, HE'S DEAD.
Just wish they had some 4k cameras or at least 1080p, because that 480p is not great.
Keystone Kops here: 3, maybe 4 cars try to block him in, and he still drives away, almost lose him 3 times, failed PIT and you can't understand a word that comes over the radio.
The deputy sounds like he’s in pain or has gas.
Adrenaline.
Chaotic deep breaths due to adrenaline...

It's like sitting in the patrol car yourself
I do commend the pursuing officer, this is one of the smoothest pursuit I have seen. The only issue I have is being from Kalamazoo i know these streets. Most of them were residential and some of them were main streets. A high speed pursuit through the streets could of gone very wrong, especially forcing the suspect to drive the wrong way. But in the end no one was hurt and law enforcement didn't thier job. This video makes me feel thankful we have officers like this one.
Why is this cop driving so slow
In der Ruhe liegt die Kraft.
(Famous German saying; but totally random here.)
Real answer:
👏 Michigan State Police 👌
Real Answer: Safety & Bitching.
The officer can't go blaring through the city streets the wrong way at 100 mph because that's just gonna end badly for him and/or members of the public.
Also people bitch and whine about everything - SJWs will go crazy if police dared considered going anything above 25mph. Ah thanks BLM for making the US even more crime infested.

That officer hunted him down like a bloodhound after a juicy bone. Great driving skills
Whats the point of those silly "STOP" signs mounted on the hood??? Its obvious no one bothers to stop...😂😂
that boy was a very good driver .
It sounded like the cop was having a heart attack and heavy breathing when he was chasing the guy! That and it seemed like he was having to do it all himself with no support, trying to follow this character and couldn't update base in a timely fashion! I felt bad for him. Only saw other cops at the end of a dangerous chase against the traffic flow.
you can try to keep as calm as possible all you want, but adrenaline does that to you no matter how hard you try. He did a good job calming down so quickly and keeping his focus imo.
The cops run with around 50 extra pounds strapped to their bodies, so they really have a more difficult disadvantage.
That first pit attempt by the trooper was a dumb move almost killed the innocent guy walking on the side of the road
Trooper almost had a panic attack during the chase
Should have used your buddies Smith & Wesson there at the gas station.
im surprised that sorento didnt explode when he was trying to escape
With the technology that exists today, why does a cop still have to call out street names while he/she is frantically chasing down a suspect? Shouldn't GPS be able to give the dispatcher a constant update?
Blame BLM with their defund the police propaganda
The other officers are listening in, and they don't have GPS locators.
Their needs to be an electronic car kill device that the officers can point at the car.
as suspect vehicle backs up into door .. officer did not get his foot all the way in perhaps his boot saved his foot from being crushed ..is this a possibility anyone??
It’s entirely possible
I support the Police 110%... But for Christ Sake what is up with the "STOP' sign attached to hood of the Squad Car? It should at least "blink" when the siren is on.. I mean, somebody approved them and payed somebody else to install them (stop signs on the hood) smh

This Officer needs either more training or some retraining. I'd give him a grade of F for this pursuit. He fails to call out the chase which doesn't allow the other incoming units to help. He pits the suspect in the direction of a bystander walking a bicycle, and then one second he's right on the guy and the next he slows down losing visual. He proceeds to park at the suspect vehicle after seeing him flee on foot per his radio call. And due to the failure to call the chase they lost the suspect. This Officer needs some serious retraining. I highly respect LEO's, but was it worth it to endanger how many chasing this guy if you aren't going to capture the suspect in the end and it was the Officers lack of doing what he should have done. Call the Street you are on and a cross street so other Officers can get in the chase or get into advantageous positions with stop sticks.
They were all city police, good old state trooper thought he could handle it himself.
