+subaruwrxfan please make a t-shirt with that saying on it matt! I would order a dozen for me and my university's car club! Haha pleaaaassssee make one.
everything is nice and really nice...nice seats...nice leather..nice gauges...all very nice. nice nice and overall very nice..you couldn't get a nicer car this nicely set up.
Matt look at your face when you start driving. You go from calm to overjoyed! Your facial expression changes as quick as the car takes off. Your voice changes and your energy elevates drastically! I understand all these feelings and excitement. I used to have a first year Miata and I am about to get another one. Your video is getting me exciting about getting it.
Hey Matt: Got nothing but wonderful things to say about this video. First, in my opinion, this is your best work yet. The intro, flawless. The car, outstanding and amazing. At first glance it looked alot like your GT but in convertible form. The color is similar to your new Mustang. Every word of your review was spot on. Concise, well-articulated. Man, I wanted to go out and buy one of those cars! I had the original '90 and fell in love with that car. Nothing in the Miata line has inspired me until I saw this review. You brought back the pure excitment of 1990 when there was a waiting line to purchase this what I remember to be, a $10K car! The big conversation about the car centered around what color you got! That car was the most fun I ever had driving. Mine was intentionally bone stock with the exception of a cold air intake, Stainless steel exhaust and factory accessories like the tonneau cover etc. Wow, what a time! Your video quality has REALLY improved, so much so that I look forward to seeing your craftsmanship over and over. Thanks for your contributions and passion! Proud to be with you!
I notice that as well on every one of his videos. Still, I come back to watch because his channel is consistent. But constructive feedback would be for him to limit his repetitive use of the word "nice" throughout the reviews.
just bought my first manual car back in september (december as i write this) it's a 2017 miata grand touring manual (of course) and it is by far the best car i could've bought. i looked at brz's, 350/370z's, wrx, focus st/rs and i always said " i love all these cars, im going to have buyers remorse no matter what" well when i bought the miata, and even until now, it just gives me such pleasure to drive. i look forward to my commute to work, i drive when im bored, i offer people rides if i can, any chance i get ill drive the car. i have no buyers remorse purchasing this miata. great review matt, keep the good work up! #pittsburghproud
I test drove the Miata and was so impressed by it, that i bought it in Oktober 2015. Till now i don't have any complaints and no idea what my next car should or could be. It's such a nice little car. Cheers Oliver
Great Review! As someone who owns a turbo-ed FRS and recently purchased a Miata Club for my wife your comparison is accurate. The weight, engine, and gearing was thought out way better in the Miata than the BRZ/FRS. If the ND Miata was out when I bought my FRS I would have purchased it instead.
It's crazy that the dealer I got my '04 model from put basically the same exhaust this one has on mine. Has such a similar tone, and it's what I love about my car so much. It's rich, "bassy" tone makes it one of the most unique Miatas in my area.
Glad you definitly back to your old self in this review. Hey, I know you are pretty much a fast car man, but I hope to see you do more truck reviews. Other channels like to mostly show the flagship of truck brands but none do like the base models . That would be a good nitch I think or something to be known you do on your channel. Keep doing what you doing man I 'm watching for knowlegde only.
Mazdas, and Miatas especially are known to have some of the most positive, slickest shifting transmissions; and best clutch feel- ever since the early 90's.
Fast forward to 2024. I am hopefully becoming an owner of this model... It has over 100K and from all I research that is not call of too much concern. Great review Matt!
I really enjoy my 93 na miata. But im glad they made the car lighter. with more horse power for the 2016 miata. Great review matt. Hope things are getting better for you.
Man I love this car. Best purchase I ever made! It's just intoxicating to drive...I have a blue GT with black interior. Been waiting to hear your impressions of it!
I had the opportunity to drive one of these for a good 45 minutes, and I've come to the conclusion it's the best car for the money. Smiles per gallon all the way.
I really like it, It looks great, great interior, great handling, great shifter, decently fast. It has a decent price, but I will wait a couple years and get a used one. There is not so many used ones for sale at the moment.
I just dropped 30,000 cash on one of these 3 days ago, sport model. 155 horsepower is not enough, but I plan on giving it to my daughter next year, so in that case it's plenty enough lol. This is my 9th mx5 I've owned and it's very nice.
youAbajajTube Being in the UK I went for the 1.5 over the 2.0 ltr. And as you say if 155 is not enough then the 1.5 will certainly not be for this guy. Straight line there are plenty of hot hatches etc that will leave the MX standing whether you have a tweak 2.0 or not . But that was never the concept of the MX5 and if people don’t understand that then don’t buy one , after 40 years of driving and yes I’ve thrashed around in a Porsche and had track day super car drives . The only other road car I have driven that was more fun than the MX 5 was a Morgan three wheeler . The super cars like the Lambo’s etc are beautiful machines and when they are let loose go like a rat up a drain pipe ,but god at slower everyday speeds they are pigs to drive and just poser mobiles. Finesse, fun and feed back is what makes the MX such a great drivers car at almost any price But for fun with performance above any form of practicality I would go for the Aerial Atom or the Caterham which both go like shit off a shovel and in top spec leave even the super cars standing at a fraction of the price.
after owning a 2017 miata grand touring, i can tell you an extra storage spot is behind you when the top is up. there’s plenty of room to store things ( groceries etc ) underneath the soft top!
Man that was a fun review! Nice to see you back to reviewing enthusiast's cars and having a blast doing it! Hope everything with the accident is going smoothly for you. Best of luck!
Great review! The car certainly works its magic on you. :-) First the video began with all the usual boring stuff about trunk space and cup holders I've seen so many times in other videos. But when you started driving on this backroad the video became something unique! Well done. More driving scenes or outside shots while driving would be nice.
Loved the review Matt, Easily one of the best reviews yet! I wasn't too sure about the ND when it was first revealed but now that I've seen a few on the road driving around they have really grown on me, and they look like awesome fun! Also who cares if the brakes feel a little weak, you don't need breaks with a Miata!!
Haha, awesome. I just emailed Matt a couple days ago asking if he wanted to review mine. Same color but the club version. I freakin love the thing. And it even fits in my tiny garage!
Love your channel...bought my 2015 Mustang GT one year ago on the 4th.of July. Your new intro is awesome....my constructive feedback..replace the word "nice" with more descriptive adjectives when you are reviewing features....you enthusiasm is great!!
Very nice review! Well filmed, good explanation on everything's that's important and you sure seemed to have a blast filming it. Oh and by the way, very good color scheme on that ND. The tan interior looks sick :) I think I'l be getting one in a couple of months.
Great review Matt!! Glad to see you got to have fun and keep doing what you do even though the mustang isn't around. Hope you hear back soon about it and Have a good one!
they look like a fun car the interior has come A LONG ways from previous gens, I saw them up close recently and was pretty impressed, after seeing your review I'm even more impressed now. great review really enjoyed this. on another note I hope you get good news about your pony soon.. "keeping my fingers crossed for you on that.
Great review of this car Matt, as always.. you've got an excellent presentation style that I think your going to go a long way with. One thing I was thinking though that would really set your reviews off would be maybe upping the vocabulary a little. Sometimes it's hard to judge one car vs another when the only terms used to describe things about it are "nice" "really nice" "pretty good" or "gets the job done".
Great review! I've been lusting over these for months and keep talking myself out of spending the money on another car. But now you've got me thinking about it again.Argh!
Always loved this car, but at 6'4" I simply dont fit. I remember going to the autoshow when it first came out and darned near got a charley-horse when trying to get in. Unfortunately, there is no other option quite as great as this for the price, the financial ease of ownership (because it's generally going to be an impractical 'fun' 2nd car). It needs to be just a 6 inches longer interior-wise with a longer telescoping steering wheel. Allow us over 6-footers to play as well.
great review as always! I want a new miata even more now. coming from a 2014 mustang gt owner. screw the power, that thing looks sweet and looks like a blast with no speeding required.
I love this interior, it's simple yet "nice" and for the size it's pretty roomy. If I bought this, and owned it for awhile I would put some headers, exhaust, cold air intake, maybe a lighter fly wheel and stiffer springs or coil-overs. If I had it long enough, I would probably skim the heads and supercharge it. I'm disclosing the obvious stuff (tires, wheels etc.)
Just wanted to point out a couple of other items I noticed when I rented one. First off, I'm 6'2, and getting in and out of the car with the top up is difficult...basically you have to crawl into the seat. Once you are in though, you are good, no big surprise there. With the top down, I found that it was easier to step into the car standing up and then slide down the seat. When I drove it on a canyon run, it was nice to drive, but found after awhile, my lower thigh was getting sore from banging/getting pushed against the door handle that you use to close the door. Also, I'm not sure if the model I had was different, but the trunk space you showed seemed to be A LOT bigger than what I had. It seemed like I could only fit a max of 3 large book binders in there. Essentially, it would be difficult to make a Costco trip with this car, as there is very limited space. Another item that I noticed was the passenger seat area. I don't know why it's like this, but I could not sit in the passenger seat with my legs straight. I had to bend my legs up. so my knees were leaning over left towards the shifter it was ridiculous. And finally, Matt, I'm not sure if you drove with the top up at all, but my god there is a ridiculous blind spot over your left shoulder. The only thing you can use is the side mirror to merge lanes to the left. Other than that, I agree with you of picking the FR-S/BRZ over this.
Nice job on the video! Have you considered adding first person views of your driving the cars to your reviews? Like what Winding Road does? I think it would add another dimension to your reviews. It's cool to see on camera what it would look like actually driving the car. A 60 second clip would be sufficient. Keep up the good work!
I had a 92 as a daily driver for 8 years and love the miata... I test drove the new one cuz I liked the new body style... Coming from an NA I felt this was a bit cramped inside, but still something I could live with. I don't think u get as much trunk space with the new one and that kind of disappointed me, still not a deal breaker. The top part of the door panel on the inside is painted the cars body color and It looks nice, but I wouldn't like to hit it by accident and chip the paint on it or like seeing swirl marks on it from cleaning it and having to polished them out down the line. The car I test drove had a few nicks on that panel and that's what worried me. The top is super easy to use and loved that. The acceleration was great, clutch was a Lil soft and easy to get the hang of... Acceleration was good.. Way quicker than the na, but not anything out of this world. The suspension did feel soft though on... A Lil bouncy on corners and that I did not like.. Hopefully they can stiffen that up a tiny bit in the future. I love the miata, but the new one is not for me. Right after test driving it I tried out a new base model 2016 v6 camaro... And as much as I love the miata I have to say that the camaro stole my heart... The v6 has plenty of power and it feels well planted on the road. If the miata can get a little of that driving feel into it I'd be all over it.
Good video. Always love when Matt Damon does car reviews. Don't know if I'd say the storage was "good" haha, but for the type of car it is I agree. For those who have driven these, didn't you feel the suspension was a bit soft on the base ones? For me it didn't inspire confidence.
The Mx5 RF is fantastic reminds of the Rx-8 ever so slightly the shape of the front grill and the rear window. even some interior items like the tachometer and the Steering wheel infotainment. Fantastic looking car.
Test drove the Sport this weekend. I agree with all of your comments & list at the end. The sound and acceleration are great, the steering feel is good but the brakes and suspension don't feel as good as my NC. Overall the cabin is very nice. I'll take one in this color or jet black 😌
Couple of things. In Canada, the GT has LSD. Second, you should go to the Miata forums and see the trouble the ND is having with the transmission. Seems to be a lot of folks having to have their transmissions replaced.
Nice review. I've heard some people say that the Miata is a "girl's car," but I really don't think that is the case with the 2016, and the 2017 model with Porsche-style retractable hard top is extremely cool.
It's a genuine subaruwrxfan review because the car is “really nice”, “really nice”, “feels really nice”, “nicely done”, “feels really nice”, “nice little notches”, “nice metal accents”
I drove both the miata and 124 the day i bought my miata. The miata just seemed more spirited than the 124 but i could be biased being a long term miata owner
That was a great review but as Ive just bought an n/c and couldnt be happier, I would recommend those whos pockets are not deep enough to run to affording more recent models that everything mentioned in this revue still applies to previous models if not in the same amounts. The handling is great throughout the range lets face it and I would advise that the thing is to get a good one thats in sound condition and keep it that way and you wont go wrong.
1:22 1:28 1:32 1:34 1:37 1:50 1:59 2:07 2:09 2:14 2:20 2:23 2:33 2:39 2:44 2:51 3:04 3:09 3:16 3:25 3:44 3:49 3:53 3:58 4:04 4:12 4:18 4:24 4:41 4:43 5:02 Okay... After 5 minutes I guess this car is "NICE".
LastWonderland lol don't you have too much time on your hands
I do, but sometimes I llike to be a dick ;)
lol how long did it take for you to get all of those
LastWonderland Bet you regret going through all that for 23 likes... LOL
A5hTriX I don't think he did it for the likes though
summary of the car:
it's really nice
Lol true. Need more vocabulary. So who is counting how many time he said nice?
Lol true. Need more vocabulary. So who is counting how many time he said nice?
73 times
+shyml1 Nice

Matt you should make a T-Shirt saying "Let's turn on to this backroad ..."
Ha! I'd buy one!
+Danny Contreras working on it :)
10/10 would buy.
+subaruwrxfan please make a t-shirt with that saying on it matt! I would order a dozen for me and my university's car club! Haha pleaaaassssee make one.
Haha yes, I'd pick one up.
everything is nice and really nice...nice seats...nice leather..nice gauges...all very nice. nice nice and overall very nice..you couldn't get a nicer car this nicely set up.
shimy333 nice
Nice comment
+subaruwrxfan literally, best video review ever for this channel. Great job Matt
Thank you!
When he gets real happy, I get happy too. His joy is so contagious.
Subaruwrxfan drinking game: drink every time he says "nice". Ya welcome.
I notice that as well on every one of his videos. Still, I come back to watch because his channel is consistent. But constructive feedback would be for him to limit his repetitive use of the word "nice" throughout the reviews.
Counted 31 before he started the car. Then I got bored.
Passed out prior to the 2 minute mark...
Someone do an official count!!! I aint, i'm busy eating watching the video.
**smacks matt across the face with a thesaurus**
lets turn on to this backboard best catchphrase ever
I am pretty sure you meant to say back-road lol
+Syed Mahdi lol yeah didn't even notice I hate autocorrect
add a "Nice" counter and he's gonna be over 9000
The only reason I came to the comments was to see if anyone counted the amount of times he said "nice".
Love the new intro! It's nice to see a young passionate car guy growing his career.
wow thats really nice. exterior is nice, interior is nice. wheels are nice. nice space. nice layout. nice trunk. niiiiiiiiiiiiiice niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice
Matt. If you have time you can review my 94 supra twin turbo 6speed. Bone stock.
Please send a message to me either on Facebook or to subaruwrxfanproductions@gmail.com! Thanks for offering!
That's AWESOME
This needs to happen asap! Love the supra.
just bought my first manual car back in september (december as i write this) it's a 2017 miata grand touring manual (of course) and it is by far the best car i could've bought. i looked at brz's, 350/370z's, wrx, focus st/rs and i always said " i love all these cars, im going to have buyers remorse no matter what" well when i bought the miata, and even until now, it just gives me such pleasure to drive. i look forward to my commute to work, i drive when im bored, i offer people rides if i can, any chance i get ill drive the car. i have no buyers remorse purchasing this miata. great review matt, keep the good work up! #pittsburghproud
Good to see you back in action!! The little Mazda made your soul happy!
This is one of the best reviews you've done Matt!
if you made a lets turn on to this back road here tshirt I would buy it
I test drove the Miata and was so impressed by it, that i bought it in Oktober 2015.
Till now i don't have any complaints and no idea what my next car should or could be. It's such a nice little car.

I loved seeing how excited you were to drive this car. You remind me of my own self when I excited for something.
I wish cars wouldn't do the push to start. there's something about turning a key that's satisfying
That fiat Spyder review is going to be sick, I cant wait for you to get your hands on one.
What a great spec on this car! This generation is such a stunning car! Every time I see one on the road, I'm starting to grin :) It makes me happy!

Great intro! This MX-5 looks great with this color combo.

Favorite review so far, making me lust after an ND GT
+subaruwrxfan the videography is getting really tight!! quality editing in these car reviews
Definitely miss your old introduction to your videos
Great review! The car certainly works its magic on you. :-) First the video began with all the usual boring stuff about trunk space and cup holders I've seen so many times in other videos. Huge fan of the Miata. Owned one for years.
Great review Matt!! Glad to see you got to have fun and keep doing what you do even though the mustang isn't around. Hope you hear back soon about it and Have a good one!
Great review! So good to see you back at what you do best.
Keep the reviews coming!
Very nice review Matt! One of your best reviews!
Your face every time you speed thru an alley is priceless haha but damn that feeling of speeding thru the gears is satisfying
they look like a fun car the interior has come A LONG ways from previous gens, I saw them up close recently and was pretty impressed, after seeing your review I'm even more impressed now. great review really enjoyed this. on another note I hope you get good news about your pony soon.. like the new intro....glad we are back to sporty car reviews.
That was a crazy intro bro, next level stuff!!
watching you review this car makes me want to get another miata they are fun cars. your smile and laughter omg amazing keep up the work good looking
My hubby loved his Miata but sold it to help buy my Mustang Ecoboost premium. Now that's true love.
Great review of this car Matt, as always.. you've got an excellent presentation style that I think your going to go a long way with.

Martius Caius it’s made by little Asian men
Best camera work of the interior of any mx5 nd review.
Everytime he revs the cars and he just makes that little laugh xD that's wrxfan right there for you I like when he does that I always laugh xD
great review as always! I want a new miata even more now. coming from a 2014 mustang gt owner. screw the power, that thing looks sweet and looks like a blast with no speeding required.
I like this miata with this color.... great review as usual!
Pretty damn excited to see this thumbnail when I opened my subs page!!!
holy shit headphone alert turn the music down for the beginning it blasted my ears

It's cool to see on camera what it would look like actually driving the car. A 60 second clip would be sufficient. Keep up the good work!
great job on reviewing this car this is my favorite car ill be getting the hart top convertible wen it comes out so exited, thanks for the review!
That sounds way better than what I was expecting.
Matt, I can see you in this car without a doubt!
My wife just bought the CX-3. I think it's smaller than the Miata. And doesn't have a storage console. You should do a review of it as well.
It weighs around 2800 pounds, way heavier than the Miata
+menteric 2900 lbs. to be exact. we have the awd. version.
I think they meant dimension wise not weight lol but good to know!!
No crossover will ever be smaller than a tiny roadster, that's ridiculous
that sumbitch is based on Mazda2, my condolences ;)
The Mx5 RF is fantastic reminds of the Rx-8 ever so slightly the shape of the front grill and the rear window. even some interior items like the tachometer and the Steering wheel infotainment. Fantastic looking car.
i LOVED this review! Almost like the old type of of review and i love it! Car sounds good and looks great!
is it nice?
Arto Kiiskinen lol
Arto Kiiskinen really nice
It's 69
Insert a synonym for 'nice':
Great
boggus
Sexual
horny
Pleasant
Is there any way you could do a compilation of all your acceleration reactions? That'd be so great, I love watching your videos!
With how you don't need to do the speed limit to have fun, that somewhat explains why some journalists abroad prefer the 1.5L...
Test drove the Sport this weekend. I agree with all of your comments & list at the end. The sound and acceleration are great, the steering feel is good but the brakes and suspension don't feel as good as my NC. Overall the cabin is very nice. I'll take one in this color or jet black 😌
Great review and great guy. Youve got another subscriber :)
Wow the Miata really does look great. I was dead set on getting the fiat version but now I'm going to have to check both of them out.
Haha was this shot in and around the Cuyahoga National Valley Park? It all looked familiar since I live five minutes away! lol
Good review, as always. *thumbs up* That miata looks pretty sweet for sure.
It's a genuine subaruwrxfan review because the car is “really nice”, “really nice”, “feels really nice”, “nicely done”, “feels really nice”, “nice little notches”, “nice metal accents”
That is "really nice" of you to say.....“nicely done”
You forgot the bolsters
loving the new intro man!!!
I drove both the miata and 124 the day i bought my miata. The miata just seemed more spirited than the 124 but i could be biased being a long term miata owner
I Love this thing. I drove one at the Dallas Autoshow and it was amazing. Love the handling.
Nice review. I think you really described the fun of driving a roadster.
If his two main complaints are body roll and brake pedal feel, he wants the Club trim. Upgraded Bilstein suspension and optional Brembo front brakes.
