Be careful when purchasing armor and don't buy into hype. I bought some ShotStop plates a few years back because they were everywhere. A lot of people were backing them (which they prob got paid to do), they had a 10year warranty and they seemed legit. Then they get busted for selling rebranded Chinese armor, failing NIJ tests, and the company gets disbanded. Now I have plates I don't know if I can trust and that nice 10yr warranty means nothing. There is no company anymore to file a warranty claim with. So, do your research and buy from a reputable company. Not some new kid on the block promising the moon and stars at an affordable price.
@SolidSnake_1776 ShotStop was the brand. The armor Ferro Concepts sells used to be rebranded ShotStop plates before they went under. WPS carried them too and John Lovell even said they were his favorite plates. That's why I thought they were legit. I was wrong.
Great video. Answers a lot of questions. The carrier you run seems to be very reasonable. No fancy gimmicks and extra stuff that will be rarely used. And Jesus Christ 6’6 250lbs fighting weight. If I saw you suited up coming for me, I’d just lay down and cry.
I love the professionalism of LE Breachers. A GP Pouch with a hard plate; very safe, very wise. I would just put blasting caps in a dump pouch on my belt.
Wish the lv119 had some type of adapter for cummerbunds like Ferro's 3ac. I want an lv119 and all the accessories but hate the 3 band cbund with a passion
If you get a burst that puts multiple rounds on your plate and doesnt hit anything but your plate you better thank God right then and there People think armor is some kinda mystical bullet magnet and that theyll only get shot in the plates. So you worry about taking multiple hits while not considering the adjacent unarmored body parts that also just took multiple hits? Nobody plans to get shot and I understand the thought process but placing so much emphasis on multiple hit ratings short changes the main thing everyone should be focusing on. Not getting shot in the first place. Proper camoflauge, concealment and using terrain are all more important than having plates that can take multiple impacts.
I purchased Hesco 3610s in 2019. Never got the recall notice from Heaco or the vendor I bought them from and only found out about it this year, after the plates warranty was up. Hesco never even responded when I emailed. Pretty lame.
Buffman Ranges testing of multiple plates from RMA would seem to say yes they are good to go NIJ pulled a rating from them for their 1165mc plates iirc but their 1155 still carries the NIJ lvl IV rating Did I pull the 1165 mc plates out and go back to the 1155s? No I did not.
@@gabrielfelixmunoz739 I fully believe that in this instance the NIJ fits the bill of "theyre from the government and theyre not here to help" I have full confidence in my RMA 1155s to perform well above their advertised rating and I would say the same for the 1165s as well RMA makes great plates and the NIJ is a part of the US Government. Even if you dont sell them, you should have discussed trauma pads. You could have also gone into detail further on steel vs ceramic, not just said “weight”- like by what factor? And spall coatings are real.
@@adamholroyd8862Watch most any armor test, you have to be LIT UP to a point where ceramic would fail before I think spall matters if you have a decently coated plate, my small, dual bent, shooters cut plates are double coated. I sacrificed weight for cost
@@Superfly816 Have you worn your plates for more than 10 minutes? There's a reason literally no one who wears plates regularly or even occasionally for that matter especially in any professional setting is wearing steel. In the world of armor, ounces equal pounds. Correct me if wrong , I never worked with plate armor but I feel that such a small plate is not that useful , most of your lungs are not even covered by the plate , anything that pierce your lung can easily killed you , your intestines are also very exposed which are not easy to fix unless you have a ambulance ready to take you to a hospital. I fell they offer more a psychological effect rather than actual protection
Plate size should directly correlate to torso measurement. If you’re a larger person, no you shouldn’t run small plates but if you’re a smaller person yes you should probably run small plates so you don’t have restricted movement from oversized plates. As well as wearing plates does not make you impervious to bullets there will always be angles where you can catch a round. You want to cover the majority of your center mass which is the standard point of aim for most trained shooters.

Many people have made body armor videos, this one is a good example of quality information presented in a digestible format. Thank you gents.
I like seeing how other LEO(Ret’d) EFE breachers set up their kit. Cheers from 🇨🇦

Very subjective.
