he is the only grammy-awared organist afaik on the planet. He is head at the Julliard school in NYC. Check is Reger Fantasie and Fugue, by memory, registering himself on UA-cam, it's out of this world
Paul Jacobs has been performing for at least the 16 years that I have known about him. I heard him perform in Pennsylvania (Bethlehem) and Florida ( Port Orange) in the same week. We need to hear a lot more from this remarkable musician.
A superlative performance on this extraordinary, recently restored instrument. Dr. Jacobs is a remarkable musician, and currently the Chairman of the Organ Department at Juilliard School of Music. We are looking forward to his upcoming performance in Portland, ME on the Kotzschmar organ.
Hearing this makes me want to play the organ. It is one of my favorite instruments. Not taking composers into account and only musical style, baroque is my favorite.
Extraordinary combinaton of composition, artist and instrument resulting in what is, I think, the most imaginative and thoroughly convincing performance of this magnificent work by J S Bach. Thank you, Paul Jacobs!
1:57 PEDAL development / episode in Bb is like Tiramisu amazing! Christ Cathedral Hazel Wright Organ registration is truly exceptional - superb performance, video and audio recording flawless & stellar
As one Bach biographer stated, in 1685 in the little town of Eisenach, there was born a musical genius. In about three minutes of music, Paul Jacobs demonstrates some of that genius and makes it clear to anyone with functioning hearing why JS Bach is *the apex master* of anything and everything to do with the art of counterpoint.
Such a wonderful little piece. One of my favorites, and well-played. I always laugh at the end because it sounds like Bach wasn't quite sure how to make it stop.
Paul Welcome Back to the Hazel Wright Organ I have the many posts of You from many yrs ago performing Cantata 29 before the restoration . MagicalPipes .
I've been listening this piece for many years now and it is a shame I've discovered Paul Jacobs so far in my journey! Great work, this is my favorite interpretation of this piece and for sure best audio and video quality on UA-cam
You are so impressive, how you have everything memorized amd play so flawlessly. Scary but impressive. I saw you perform in Pittsburgh many years ago and I'll never forget it.
My favorite Bach piece of music. I fell in love with this piece in the 70's. I started taking organ lessons shortly after. And went to school to major in the organ. And ti this day this is my favorite piece. Well done my friend. Beautiful music. Thank you from the bottom of my hesrt.❤🙏
Like this tune. The 1st time I ever heard it was when Mickey Roucke performed it in the movie "A prayer fot the dying" I always thought that was a brilliant piece
I’m hooked on this interpretation or rendition. I’ve been playing it almost nonstop. It’s the best I’ve found so far. It was actually video game music that got me here. 😊 Bach’s music is quite the hit and a huge compositional inspiration in the gaming circle. A lot of games feature his pieces. “Little” Fugue is the final boss music in 𝘔𝘦𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴. I had Paul’s performance aired on a weekly video game music show broadcast by a college radio station. I’m a huge fan of video game music, mainly because I’m a musician-a classically trained pianist who secretly wants to be an organist. 😁
I'm well familiar with the organ and all the hype as it (she) exists very close to my home. I get it, this instrument literally has all the bells and whistles! But it is nice to hear something familiar like this tune, instead of a strange cacophony.
At 1.1x speed, this is probably my second favourite rendition. I do wish he played it more detached like the one by Ton Koopman. That version still remains my favourite version dude to his bravado and detached approach.
Dear Mr. Jacobs, for many years, there was a BACH präludium (in C ?) avaliable, which you performed in the times of Christ(al) Cathedral. Is it possible, to get this version somewhere ?
And Johann Seb smiled broadly while giving a "thumbs up."😃👍
Most definitely.. 👍🇬🇧
The ghost of Bach: oooooh I aprooooooooooooove woooooooooooooooooo
Yes 😂😂😂😂😄
I have not even heard of this organist, and this might unironically be my favorite interpretation of this piece, amazing.
ROCK ON! He's so rad. Love this performance.
Me too - many versions I find too slow to be honest, and in terms of articulation - too much of this or not enough of that.. this one is perfect.
you are not alone.

Best-sounding recording of this instrument I've ever heard.
This is absolutely insanity! OMFG. I guess the guy has 3 separate brains
Some pieces by Bach are truly transcendent.
And the lyrics are,”Bach was born in sixteen hundred eighty- five”.
Now I'll never unhear this. Thanks for that. Lol

You only need think in another lyrics, something yours personally... Something like "Liam is the most amazing human being"
So funny 😂
Excellent performance of this wonderful Bach. Bravo Paul Jacobs !!!! We need to hear more from Paul Jacobs.
Thank you, Tuba Maxima!
Awesome! Now I have a favorite version of this music
Thank you! I'm glad you like the interpretation of this iconic Bach fugue!
This is why Bach is the best.
His ingenious ways he was able to skilfully improvise on various themes is a testament to his brilliance and greatness.
WOW!!! Absolut brillant gespielt. Wundervolle Orgel und Stück, nebst virtuosem Organisten....

I still cant explain how such counterpoint and music is possible
Holy cow!! That contraposaune!!! ❤❤❤
Ich habe diese Orgel noch nie so klar und barock registriert gehört.
Phantastisch durchsichtig und klar gespielt. Chapeau !!! ❤
Vielen Dank!
Brillante esecuzione..Complimenti Maestro. Grande Organo Ruffatti
Thank you!

And thank YOU for your uplifting comment!
Paul, I love your playing so much
Bravo Maestro!
A monumental undertaking!

Truly perfect. Hard to imagine a better rendition of this amazing music.
Holy Cow! Such a light touch as necessary - a joy to listen to
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lovely. Nice Romantic, late nineteenth-century interpretation of this marvellous work.
Bach has a timeless quality, indeed.
@@festivetosho7376 True. He's nobody's exclusive property.
We love Paul from the little town of Washington.
MAGNIFICENT !
úžasné....♥
Excelente, hermosisimo. 👌
Exquisite.
Sounds incredible on the "Organ".....
Je ne connaissait pas vraiment BWV 578 mais c'est magnifique et très bien joué !!!
Very musical! Wonderful playing as always, Paul. Always a pleasure to listen to you. Thank you.
Just an excellent performance !!
Thank you, Mr. Jacobs, for sharing this.

Great job Paul!

Absolutely tremendous!
I have had the opportunity to hear Mr. Jacobs perform on many occasions and am left with an impression of perfection. Thank you Mr. Jacobs.
Thank you, kindly, for your words!
It is beyond me why you have not received more recognition.
Petita?
No.
MAJESTUOSA!❤
I approve.
Perfect tempo and original choice of sound! Bravo 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The audio recording is spectacular. The 32s do not sound cutoff at all
Paul you are unique, too much for words❤❤❤
I can not wait to come to see you on your upcoming concerts! Sei un amore grande veramente bellissimo! ❤❤❤
AMAZING ❤❤
Marvelous. I've always loved this one by Bach and here it's played beautifully. Nothing can compare with a full-bodied pipe organ's pedal notes!
❤❤❤Maravilhoso ouvi-lo. Magnífico. Gênio. BRAVOOO
You are so impressive, how you have everything memorized amd play so flawlessly. Scary but impressive. I saw you perform in Pittsburgh many years ago and I'll never forget it.
¡Sublime!
Nunca había escuchado una interpretación tan potente.
¡Felicitaciones!
Muchas gracias!
ピアノの音色がいいですね❗教会に行くと、流れてそうな感じがします。心が癒されそうです。
BRAVO !!!!! merveilleux! (As usual!!!!)
Merci beaucoup!

A great piece and a fantastic instrument, thank you for this beautiful interpretation. Many greetings, Roland

Beautiful Foxian playing of this great piece, I presume in honor of the original invisioner of this great organ! Thk u!
Wow
Toll.Mega Performance suf dem (einen) Manual der Orgel

I get it, this instrument literally has all the bells and whistles!
But it is nice to hear something familiar like this tune, instead of a strange cacophony.
The supreme counterpuntal architect, perhaps imported from another reality
That moment when some of those knobs (?) suddenly pop up and I have to rewind the video just to make sure my eyes did not deceive me.
I think you mean the stops. The organist can control it, and add more or remove some, to change the sound of the organ.
Sounds so clean. Reminds me of castlevania
It's actually the final boss music in 𝘔𝘦𝘨𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘯 𝘓𝘦𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴. 😊
Totally persuasive! 3:35
Очень жду в Вашем исполнении BWV 561, 588, 537, 565, да что там, все органные фуги Баха! Вы отлично исполняете, мне очень нравится.
At 1.1x speed, this is probably my second favourite rendition.
I do wish he played it more detached like the one by Ton Koopman. That version still remains my favourite version dude to his bravado and detached approach.

Mateus, Marcos, Lucas, João, Bach, será Paul Jacobs o sexto evangelista?
Muchas gracias!
D minor is sorrow for the other. G minor is saying goodbye.
2:15 he lets out a yawn like it's nothing!
praise the lord!
Bach should be played only with the tips
The "tips" of what? And why is this a moral imperative?
Too legato.
No no no.
G minor is letting go. Forever . . .
Great tone and rhythm but very fast for my taste
The building is an architectural monstrosity.
Good. But not my favorite playing of this piece.
