The supreme counterpuntal architect, perhaps imported from another reality

Oh my. Organs are great, but what have they done to the cathedral interior? No light, just ugly white tiles! HIDEOUS. Makes me want to vomit..

Nice to hear Juilliard has the upper echelon organist who incidentally performed all Bach’s works consecutively. Shout out to cohort Dr. Kreeger.

A superb performance! One of the best interpretations of this fugue I have heard. I loved his variations of registrations. Many organists perform this piece in the same forte registration throughout. Well done!

Erstaunliche Darbietung, wie kann man nur so spielen? Dieser stringente Rhythmus, dieses Akkordspiel und dann diese Leichtigkeit und Perfektion, als ob das alles ein Kinderspiel ist. Tiefe Bewunderung. Chapeau.

At 1.1x speed, this is probably my second favourite rendition. I do wish he played it more detached like the one by Ton Koopman. That version still remains my favourite version dude to his bravado and detached approach.

Hearing this makes me want to play the organ. It is one of my favorite instruments. Not taking composers into account and only musical style, baroque is my favorite.

It depends in part on the style and action of the instrument as well as acoustic of the building. Good musicians should be flexible and versatile and be able to adapt depending upon the circumstances.

Bach s’est bien amusé à mettre toutes les difficultés dans cette œuvre comme les longs et complexes tirades au pédalier...un seul mot bravo Un seul regret la réverbération de cet orgue si commun aux instruments d’églises...

As one Bach biographer stated, in 1685 in the little town of Eisenach, there was born a musical genius. In about three minutes of music, Paul Jacobs demonstrates some of that genius and makes it clear to anyone with functioning hearing why JS Bach is *the apex master* of anything and everything to do with the art of counterpoint.

One of my favourite Franck pieces. This is beautifully played, though I have heard only one person (not this recording) play the last two chords like no other, smooth, like butter, sliding the fingers over, the transition from one cord to the next, just delicious. Most people play it separate.

I always get the feeling that there is something very noble about this man. When he plays and when he is in conversation I just sense an uncommon decency and nobility of spirit. And, of course, he is one helluva organist.

I vividly remember your concert at Westminster Cathedral in London; Elgar, Boulanger and Demessieux. For me at least, this was the finest organ recital I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. The art of organ playing raised to a degree, the equal of the finest pianists or violinists. This performance only confirms what I witnessed back then. I know of no other recording that surpasses this in its sublime artistry. Only Dupre, Demessieux and the late Michael Murray equal you here. And your performance is my favourite. Thank you so much for sharing this; it really is an inspiration.
