  • The most iconic series on Funker Tactical featuring Instructor Zero and Doug Marcaida! Check out some really dope merch on our new store including a head turning Instructor Zero hoodie!
New! The Funker Tactical Shop: bit.ly/3qR8VEB
For the seriously tactical, this video answers MANY questions that were posted in the comments of the Knife vs Gun series. Learn why this series is one-dimensional in favor of the gun fighter. As we continue to explore your ideas, we will release videos of an evolving knife fighter that employs different tactics in close quarters combat.
The 21ft Rule may be dead in the case of a skilled gun fighter versus an unskilled attacker...but what happens when the knife is wielded by a skilled knife fighter? We might actually see that 21ft rule expand.
Thank you for watching Funker Tactical. Please subscribe and watch our older videos!

Depends, I guess. You feel more confident when you know you have a big knife on you. But then you haveto use it in the case of cases.
But if you openly carry it you might decourage people from pissing with you in the first place.

+ReconCrusader This is a poor and terrible attitude. To fight is not to be human. To fight is to be animal. To REASON is to be human. We all should be trained to fight and defend ourselves against attackers who intend to kill. This does NOT mean that we shouldn't have the discipline to exercise restraint and use reason and logic to try and strategize ways of avoiding the fight.
Be smarter right up until the point when reason does you no good. Then, and only then, should you be like the animal and kill.

In these comments, you come off as someone who is very angry and has very little self control, cussing in comments when there is no need, insulting when there is no need. Humans do not HAVE to be violent. We are much more intelligent than lions. We are capable of gathering and cooking food without chasing down and killing it. The only time that it is technically necessary to be violent is when we are given no other choice in order to avoid bodily harm or death. We are capable of evolving into a more and more empathetic and compassionate race who do not harm each other over time. Notice I said “capable”, not that we will for sure, as I do not see into the future.

I don't think your on point here, the video shows a trained man drawing his weapon against a surprise incoming attack, and he fails in every scenario, meaning that if a surprise attack with kill intentions wouldve been attempted on a cop, the cop would be dead.
The cops shooting at a guy with a knife then means that he had plenty of time to draw his weapon and decide what to do, and, instead of shooting him in the leg or something, they choose to empty a full fucking mag on a guy while having distance, time, and firepower on their side.

The premise of the video is stupid, because there's a 0% chance that two people who are prepared will end in anything other than the shooter winning. The most important take away is situational awareness. But as with anything it will only go so far. In the example above if Doug had a gun and just shot Zero from behind without warning, game over. All you can hope for is that you have enough time to react to an attacker and the only way to increase your odds of being able to react is situational awareness.

Not if a significant wound is dealt to the gun arm first. Doesn’t take much to disable a tendon or ligament, and you wouldn’t be able to grip the gun after that. There’s a reason arm, wrist, and hand cuts are considered fatal in historical martial arts. I’m pretty sure the same thing would apply to a hand holding a gun.

wrong some people have sixth sense about danger a in built feeling of impending doom....that moment you have tactics no COP no MILITARY person has ever been taught to use deeply they rely on fear of the uniform or badge or gang up mentality...perhaps you have things that give you small advantages for limited protection ...that Japanese LAPD Ninja expert knows this one tactic super well he is fantastic both hand to hand and weapons. i feel like in most real life encounters the person with the knife will most likely pull his knife and wield it in a matter as a tool to intimidate.(i.e. i have a knife give me your wallet) "oh yes, let me reach for my wallet... funny thing about my wallet is..its actually a gun." but then again i don't live in real life, i live in a world where i'm constantly fending off silent knife wielding ninja assassins that want to stick me more than steal from me.

I especially liked the technique of dropping to the floor, I had not thought of that, and it is very effective since you have your feet to control your assailant if he is still pushing forward.
Then again, it's not like you'll have these kinds of engagements in real life, since you don't really know who's going to attack you, and if the knife guy knows you are a threat, he probably won't come directly unless cornered.

The odds of it happening are extremely slim, but that does not make it a fantasy and those who train for it will be prepared should it ever ever to them, while those who don't train won't be. There is also a lot to be said about an increased level of alertness and preparation for any type of attack if you train for a specific type of attack, even if that attack you trained for never occurs.

What is wrong with this video? This guy is reacting to a guy with a knife WITHOUT LOOKING
Now the major problem with this is if you shoot someone in self defense. You damn well better be able to prove it is justifiable homicide or you will go to prison. In real life if you hear someone running behind you. And you pull that cutesie trick of twisting the gun around and shooting behind you. You just might wind up explaining to a jury why you shot an unarmed man. Good luck with that. These people are trying to impress you with how clever they are. What they are is stupid. In real life you can't see a person standing 15 feet behind you with a knife. And if you heard them. you would have to turn first. See them, Access them, determine they have a weapon and are attacking you. And then you can pull your gun. You pull your gun spin around and point it at someone not holding a weapon even if you don't fire it is already too late. You have just threatened with a deadly weapon. And brandished a firearm which is also a crime. And assault with a deadly weapon. Contrary to popular belief you do not have to make contact with the victim. Directly or indirectly [bullets from a gun you are holding] Assault is the threat of bodily harm. Example: you swing at someone and miss you have committed assault. You swing and hit them you have committed assault and battery.

Human reaction time will not allow defense against most suprise attacks. Imagine an armed man casually passing by you and his intent was lethal. You (no matter who you are) are to slow. Even a HIGHLY trained invidual would only have a slim (if any) chance. If they did survive the attack it would be because they were aware and read his body language (highly trained individuals will totally control body language i.e. no warning). Situational awareness is your best survival tool. Train and improve for sure. But alot of survival is preventative measures and psycological training. Stay calm, aware, and hone your physical skills (whichever you chose). Put it all together and live to fight another day. Real situations are volitile, chaotic, and highly unpredictable there are no "this always works" techniques. Train, learn, and evolve continuously. Hands, knives, and guns are tools. Use what best suits the situation to ensure your survival. These men are well trained and are using valid techniques. The gun draw with his back turned is not shoot without looking. Notice his head and body position he can see his attacker. No gun should ever be fired blind.

    • @ErrantChordier
      @ErrantChordier 4 роки тому +8

That is so true. It's a SURPRISE attack, so you're not expecting it, and in a surprise it takes you several seconds to even realize what's going on. Sometimes people don't realize for a while that they were even shot. I like the quote from Life Aquatic: "You never say, 'I'm gonna fight you, Steve'. You just smile and act natural, and then you sucker-punch him." That's a surprise attack.
Situational awareness...physically, cover (buildings, cars, people nearby), sound (footsteps, ambient noise, talking), light (sunset, streetlights) can all come into play. Also don't underestimate the knowledge factor- what you know, and what they assailant thinks.
Watching for this stuff seems real paranoid, but it's the approach you should take to driving anyway, so might as well do it when walking. Safety is always first! Proper driving really takes a lot of attention. There's this intersection I go through a lot in a small downtown, and every time I make a left turn, I have to watch for: Oncoming cars, cars exiting parallel parking spaces and are now oncoming, pedestrians legally crossing, oncoming car waiting to turn left- but there's one behind them that is going straight, idiots (cars or pedestrians), pedestrians or cars being blocked from my view by oncoming traffic or signs/light posts, someone exiting the parking lot at the corner. That's a lot to watch for, but the same principles can go a way in avoiding attacks.
An attack, maybe survivable. A surprise, you're toast. So just don't let yourself get surprised- arm yourself with knowledge, and pick good situations.

can break many people even people in military so take time and train the mind mentally prepare yourself for such an event (and to anyone who reads this I am in no way shape or form telling you to prepare by starting with small animals those who hunt understand don't do stuff a psychopath would do you will become the very monster you may have to kill in defense one day

The main point of self-defense is knowing how to fend off those cases, not to be prepared for a Yakuza hit job or your attacker being a Speznats instructor with five black belts.
