Daily Driving a cammed 5.3 on a 3600 Circle D Converter

- Hey guys, In this video I show what its like for me to drive my Daily Driven cammed Silverado with a triple disc converter from circle D, it stalls at 3600 and locks up at 50 mph and cruises like normal under 40% throttle anything above that it just wants to go, my truck is a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and yes its a gmc cluster, I swapped it cus it works well for the trans temp. Let me know what you guys think, im also open to ideas and topic discussions. Enjoy!!!
That exhaust would piss me off. I know some people like it but I would be pissed off every time I hit the gas. The lump sounds good though 👍
Personally it took me a minute to get used to it especially after it took a bit to settle, Sounds different now but once again I got a crazy Idea to change the exhaust set up to something more simple than running duals
@@Legendaria-lsx I have 2 trucks with 5.3s and the LS engines have a sound all their own. A conventional small block Chev sounds a lot different. The LS series is the best engines ever made in my opinion.

I’ve got a similar set up, driving around town in 3rd will let that torque converter lock up more
It did well for me, but it was a 2 year old transmission. It ended up giving out on me, im currently on a new set up now

I daily drive a 6.2 fbo 3800 triple disk yank stall. Has a 235/250 111 lsa cam in it.
How do like it??
@@Legendaria-lsx I like it with the tune I have now drives good. As long as tune is right you shouldn't have problems daily driving with a big cam.
I get like 18 to 20 mpg on the highway cruising at like 65 to 70 mph at like 1800 rpms. I have the 6l80 trans and 3.73 gears.

Just curious, I got a 2002 with a 5.3 single cab shortbed, got longtube headers, MSD wiring, cold air intake, performance built 4l80e with a stock torque converter and 4.11 gears in the rear...performance tune to run on med-grade unleaded.... question is, what cam is recommended for true max gains and nice mean choppy sound! Also, will my stock torque converter on my built 4l80e be fine? Guessing it has an 1800 stall being that it's the stock one... any suggestions?
Personally my preference would be the Howards rattler cam and or the BTR Nsr cam, both are good for what you are looking for and don’t affect much of drivability with a stock converter

How's mileage with a 3600 stall? I just wanna get a stage 3-4 ish truck cam but you already know these damn fuel prices are nuts lol, mostly highway cruising with occasional city
It was pretty bad if I was daily driving during the week id say 12 mpg? Not too sure but id last a week with a tank of gas, didnt get to enjoy it enough becuase the transmission ended up blowing, I lost that converter in the process too, ended up with a new transmission and 3k stall now, drives alot more better and does not feel heavy at all on take offs
@@Legendaria-lsx damn well that's a shame then, I really wanted to do a 3600 stall for better rpm drops, does a 3K stall lug at full throttle shifts?

i have the same converter in my 2000 silverado with a 232/236 cam im having trouble though when i put it in gear reverse or drive sometime it stalls 😤
Might be an issue with the tune, shortly after this video though my previous transmission blew, the planetary gears where destroyed, I got a fresh new build now a 4l65e with a budget converter from circle D its a 3k converter

I have a completely stock truck 4.8 single cab, I’m wanting to run a Howard’s rattler cam, EGR delete no cats E FAN swap, long tubes maybe a tbss intake is that possible on the stock converter? And do you do cam swap I’m also in Texas
Yes it is, I ran it on a built transmission with a stock converter and it ran just fine. No issues i did that for a whole year then decided to run a converter. Its gonna feel like it wants to take off at the light when you sit on the breaks but its fun lol. It wont do no harm, That set up your going with is gonna do perfect

Thanks man, Its headers with 3 inch piping into 2 Flowmasters outlaws in 3 inch aswell, no xpipe or y or h pipe either. Dumped before the axel with dual 5 inch tips

@@Z71_Taylor sweet! I got the BTR NSR cam on my 6.0 swapped cheyenne, it sounds phenomenal and i love it. Its a good cruising set up but when you wana get down, It does not disappoint
That’s cool! You think it’ll be fine with a bone stock transmission with stock stall for a little bit until I rebuild my trans and get a stall?
@@Z71_Taylor it should be, I strongly recommend you get it with springs and the retainers kit just to be safe also, and when you get the truck tuned make sure you tell the tuner the truck is still running stock transmission and converter aswell, they can make the necessary adjustments

@@FirstLast-td4pq only issues I had was a badly built transmission,converter was fine but unfortunately the trans was just not built correctly, we found flaws in almost everything. Unfortunately I ended up loosing that converter because of internal damages after the trans failed. As Far as cooling, upgrade to a trucool or a cfm trans cooler, add some spall 6.5 in fans & you should be golden
