Quick and clear - a speedy refresher. Thanks
Best tutorial I have ever seen!
I'm left handed and I have watched and used this video 500 times. I will sit at my desk with my marker/pen/scissors in front of the computer to make sure I do it right.
Your tutorial is so clear and easy to watch. Many thanks.
I started quilting about 5 years ago, and I am entirely self-taught from magazines and youtube videos. I just finished my 10th quilt yesterday. I learned how to finish and bind a quilt from this video, and I still watch it every time I finish a quilt, especially 3:58 where you show how to make an invisible join. I set my laptop or phone on the table right next to my sewing machine and get a quick refresher on binding, then finish my quilt!
I have watched other "mitering binding" videos but with yours--quick and clear--I was able to make perfect corners for the first time. Many thanks!
I use this video every time I bind a quilt now. It's so confusing - I can't do it without you!
OMG!!! I cannot stress enough how thankful I am that you taught me this!! I started a project last November and never finished it bc I didn't know how to bind and the directions I had was a 42 page print out that i did not understand. But you made it so simple for me that I finished in an hour!! After I ripped the first try by print out lol thank you again. I hope you still do this bc I realize this video is 11yrs old. I'll be back though Happy Sewing!!
Thanks so much. I've read instructions for making binding, but seeing you do it makes all the difference for "getting it."
What a great tutorial, thank you! For the first time since I took up quilting, I didn't have to wait for my friend to help me with the binding and my corners came out PERFECT!!! :)
My go to instruction for installing binding with perfect mitered corners and invisible join, comes out right every time.
Such a great video. It works beautifully!
Thank you! A minor miracle in that I did it right the first time....no unpicking required! Yeah!!
Absolutely love this video!
I don't usually comment on videos, but I wanted to tell you that this tutorial was incredibly clear and helpful. I teach online for a living so I tend to be a critic. :) I was able to follow this easily and completely and used it to a bind a quilt. I was worried the invisible join wouldn't work but it worked like a charm. Thank you for the excellent instruction. :)
This is the clearest and best instruction I have seen - than you so much!!!
Thank you for the video. You have saved me a great deal of time. For the life of me I could not remember how to do this. Your instructions are fast and easy and the visuals speak louder than words.
Excellent video! I took a beginner's quilting course and I learned more by watching this tutorial than I did in my course! Thank you :)
Omg thank you thank you THANK you. I have never made a quilt but I’m crazy, I crochet and make lots of things. I’ve sewn curtains etc. I’m doing an American Girl Christmas and furnishing a 6 foot house....I have three girls to make bedding for and I saw the liveliest quilts and figured I could make them a good $20 less than buying pre-made AND let the girls pick fabrics with the thought that I’m making curtains for their rooms :)
So I get the hard part done (or so I thought). I hand quilted these in 4 days and thoroughly enjoyed it. I get to the binding and I’ve chosen to do striped fabric on the sides and a solid for the tops, each quilt having a different color for tops and bottom....I destroyed a half yard of my green :/ I could not get my colors to line up when I cut the binding and sewed it together :( I finally made strips of the striped fabric and I’m doing the first one ALL with one same fabric....after watching this. Can you please point me to something you have similar for the two color/print binding?? How do I measure for top, sides, bottom using one fabric for the sides and another for the top? I was always off because I didn’t allow for the folding of those corners but how much do I add..and of which color??? There has to be an easier way. Please help!!
Thank you for your wonderful demo. Using slip stitch to attach the binding to the back is another way to have an invisible stitch!
Thank you so much for this fantastic tutorial. I've been using commercially-made binding without tidy corners & seamless joins because I never "got it" before on how to do it like you demonstrated. Just tried your methods for the first time & had great success. Thanks again! :)
Great tutorial. I had forgotten how to do mitered corners and the notes that I took in class were no longer of any value. This was simple and very easy to understand.
Thank you ever so much. I was making a towelling bathmat and loo mat and couldn't work out how to go about binding the external corners. All is clear now. :) And done! I'd still be struggling without your tutorial.
This is the clearest demonstration of this technique l have watched.
I just did my first bind on a small quilt thanks to your video. The close-ups were most helpful. Thanks for taking the time to share!!
Thank you so much for the tutorial! It was exactly what I needed to learn and your teaching and demonstration methods are wonderful. I do all my quilting (piecing, etc.), but hand and this is the first time I've tried miter corners. Thank you again!
I've been binding quilts for years and always struggle with these two things. Thanks for your great tutorial. I followed along and it worked perfectly. Great job!
Excellent tutorial. I have been making quilts for many years, and always have trouble with the binding, especially the last join. You make this very easy to understand.
I can tell, this will be my "go to" binding tut - I have such trouble with the ending! Thank you so much. You are bookmarked from here-on-out!
Thank you for making this tutorial! I watched other ones to learn how to do mitred corners but none of them explained what to do on the reverse of the quilt. I finished my first properly bound quilt yesterday and the corners are perfect (on both sides!) - thank you! ❤️
I have just done your binding! With my phone propped up on my machine! Perfect thank you! X
oh my goodness, my corners turned out perfect, thank you so much! i've been sewing binding on by hand for years
this is a decent video for the beginner quilter. The invisible join is a good technique. I do recommend pressing the seams open to reduce bulk. But, as always, I recommend that people watch several videos on a technique since we all do things a little differently. And try a blind stitch for the hand sewing, I think you will like it.
Love it! I have finally found a great tutorial! I just finished a doll quilt for my granddaughter and I was determined to finish it properly, thank you!
Your tutorial is a keeper, you made it so easy for me to understand and I was so ready to finish this binding without the help of my friend...she will be impressed!!! Thanks again!
Finally!!!! I've found a tutorial I understand. Thank you so much, I'm super excited 😊
Fantastic and very easy to do I just learn quilting and you made it very easy Thank you so much Ursula
Thank you thank you thank you for this video. I have sewn, unpicked, watched You Tube videos, sewn, unpicked THEN I FOUND YOUR VIDEO!!! Whoo hoo it worked first time. I cannot thank you enough. My sanity has returned.
Agree, a blind hem stitch is the best hand stitch option.
I needed 4 to 5 inches of space to join the tails. It worked well after I figured this out.
thank you so much I am a new quilter cant wait to get started your tutorials are so clear
Thanks much. This was quick, thorough and exactly what I needed mid-project.
what an incredible and beautiful quilt! finishing up a quilt for my partners bday/christmas! This video helped so much! thank you!
Easiest quilt binding tutorial ever. Thank you! Just what I needed to know today. :)
WOW So happy i found your tutorials. The easiest i have seen on you tube. Love your instructions and clear and easy speaking Thank you
I love this tutorial. I've used it many times now, because I just can't seem to get the invisible joint settled in my mind. I love your instructions, I love this particular quilt, and I love that you took the time to match your nails to your quilt
Loved this tutorial! It was so easy to understand and follow.I bookmarked it for future use. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
This is a great tutorial. I appreciate you taking the time to upload this. I can now make the perfect binding.
Great job..you make it look so easy, and it's so easy to follow along with you..I'll be watching your other posts..thank you!!
Thank you for this tutorial. It was just what I needed now that I'm learning quilting.
Lovely! I will be trying this on my next quilt. I love all of your tutorials!
LOVE your fabric choices, thanks for the videos. I am a newbie and these help me.
This was a great tutorial! I have never finished a quilt and was nervous about the binding. You made it very easy to follow along. I did get a little confused when trying to join the beginning and the end in a nice mitered look but after tearing out a couple of times, (experience right?) it looks great! Thank you.
So helpful! thank you for your generosity.
Thanks so much! This was just what I was looking for. It's been a while and I had forgotten how to do this :)
Wonderful....just the info I was looking for. Thank you so much.
Very helpful! East to follow and understand. Thank you.
Very helpful! Thanks for the tutorial!
FABULOUS! Thank you!
Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing.
brilliant. very clear but it still took me a couple of attempts as i didn't put my bottom strip vertical at first! Thank you
I just did the same thing tonight so don't feel bad! lol
Thanks for the tutorial, I think I'll give that way of binding a try.
I never get this right the first time!!! Guess what? First time!!!!!!!
I have a 4th option for sewing the binding to the back after it has been sewn onto the quilt. I always do a blindstitich. It is pretty much invisible when you are done. Much nicer than any of these 3 options.
.
Excellent tutorial!
Thank you! A really clear video and very helpful :)
very informative and easy to understand thank you
Exactly what I needed - thank you!
thanks so much this was very easy to understand.
Very beautiful and well explained and filmed, but what a work !!... :)
Très beau et bien expliqué et filmé, mais quel travail !!... :)
Needed this tutorial! I forgot how to do this LOL - thank you!
I have watched other binding tutorials but the other ones always either have an awkward camera angle or the material is far too dark to tell how the heck they are folding the corner! And then they make you do math to figure out the finishing or do some Houdini thing with a dowel in which I would swear they broke into a Scandinavian language and then went back to English to say, "Now, wasn't that easy?" I have ruined two quilt bindings already. This SIMPLE tutorial will save me from further binding homicide and quite possibly the homicide of said binding tutor. Bet you never thought your quilting skills could save lives.
Great Tutorial - Hope I can do it!!
Thanks I love it!
great tutorial. At last an essy way to end binding. Can we have more please?
you can also use a blind stitch on the back side, which cant be seen on either side
The tutorial was great, very easy to follow. I especially enjoyed the demo for the invisible join. I was wondering why you did not also demonstrate a slip stitch for finishing the quilt binding?
I love your three part quilt series. It really makes me want to give it a try. Thank you.
Thank you so much for showing me, how to do it . I enjoyed the entire film
I, just got started, I am 62 yrs old and have a small check each month. I made about , but have no idea, what to do next, once I completely done. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all.your help. Rachel
Thank you for the tutorial. It's very helpful. If I might add a suggestion, I found that the multi-colored fabrics made it difficult to see the invisible join section. Perhaps solid colors with contrasting thread?
Thank you so much :)
It was a great tutorial to refresh my memory on how to join the end tails, thank you. I wish your camera focused better though :(
thanks for the concise instructions
Great tutorial. I secret wish is that you would provide written instruction s on joining the two ends. Ma Nov 10, 2015
thanks a lot you saved me *lol
Will this take all day?
nice tutorial, but OUCH! it's amazing to see you hand sew without some type of thimble.
Great but when she gets to the corner the vid switches and shows her sewing an inside-out binding.
I noticed this as well I saw it a couple of times in this video. Not sure what she did there. Looked like the first time she tried to hide it with her finger. The camera never lies I suppose.

I've never seen such awful ways to hand bind. a blind stitch looks so much nicer.
did she know some of her binding were inside out and she still sewed it without saying this is what you do not do and always check binding before putting it on
Great tutorial! Thank you!
