That's not bad at all. It's basically an emulator with browsing, camera, video & audio playback, installed games already. Seems like the audio is horrible but you get what you pay for. For that cheap, not bad. I've seen pieces of shit worse than this. Like those PolyStation consoles that have really old LCD games pop out the "disc tray" and looks like a PS3.

Ice Kold Killa This would be good 15 years ago honestly. But you can also pick up a PSP 1000 for 40 bucks (only 2x the cost) and mod the shit out of it for free.
The audio isn't great on some games, but mostly it's the speaker that sucks. Use headphones or an external speaker and it will sound nearly perfect, especially when playing videos and music. I know SNES games have some issues with audio and Mega Drive games have some sound channels quieter than they should be, but other games might sound better.

Actually, this one is pretty decent (for bootleg standard), because most of those "PSP" or "PS VITA" ripoff are just NES on a chip or Genesis on a chip.

Mine is a bit different. After I went into the Game Center it removed all the games on the homepage and just replaced them with the games that come after the one I just played on the game list. Yours might be different but I’m pretty mad anyway cuz I thought this was a tlex ulike which is an android console.

Could be useful for a replay of some classic rpgs. Input delay shouldn’t be an issue since they are usually turn based.
I just opened mine up in hopes to hack it...no idea where the internal storage is..must be in a chip I assume. Also it has slots and spots marked for 2 speakers but only one speaker is installed into the system lol.

Since your review here, they've updated this system.
1. The interface has changed; the text is bigger, everything is spaced more widely apart and highlighted to make it a bit more easy and fun to navigate.
2. The hold switch on top has turned into an auto shutdown switch (although the forced shutdown button still exists as well, but the auto shutdown switch is safer as it does not stop everything instantly; it is a normal shutdown)
3. The unit no longer powers off unexpectedly even when disconnected from a charger.
4. Video formats are not as limited. For me in the past, I could only use FLV files, unless I wanted MP4s with no audio (how did they include that one 1280x720p MP4 on the device?!). Now, however, many more formats are accepted; all MP4s I've tried, AVI files with / without xVid codec, FLV; I recommend not using FLV since we don't have to anymore, because the same file size will have worse quality with FLV versus MP4 or AVI (I never tried AVI on the old system either...there's so much I didn't learn before!!!) I'm not sure if there's a limit on video kbps, but I've never really gone above 1280 (1.25 Mbps) for video with this device. I know the Sansa TakeTV supports up to 7 Mbps, but I'm not sure how powerful this device is in comparison. You'd have to test that yourself.**
5. Changing the resolution to anything other than 720x480, the true PSP's native resolution (and I never tried 720x576 but I think maybe it would have been all right too) used to cause rainbow artifacts to appear in the video, but now this no longer happens with any video at all.
6. For older models, a video resolution above 720x480 would be slower and choppy, hard to control, and worse the bigger the resolution got. Again, how'd they make do with that 1280x720 Bolt clip?! But now, much higher resolutions can be accepted (though this doesn't really affect TV output viewing since the cables are composite only).
7. While the screen used to be fully sharp, now the screen has a tiny bit of blur to it, but not enough to really make the experience unenjoyable. Some may not even notice; there are times I forget about it. HOWEVER!!! If you're wanting to put HD video on the device, I'm pretty sure this tiny bit of blur will actually make the HD quality impossible to distinguish. Perhaps the screen itself is operating at 480p or 576p; I can guess all I want, but when it gets to the deep stuff, I'm not too knowledgeable. I only know the fun stuff.
8. The camera's still there and just as bad as ever, but now I can't find the video recording settings. There's a chance they did away with that feature since it worked so terribly; maybe pictures aren't as bad. I don't know, I haven't taken many to test the camera with. Then again, perhaps video recording is still possible and I'm just not doing a good job looking for it.
9. The AV Out connection, while still composite, looks better. The quality (videos and regular screen, games, etc.) is no longer blocky, but rather there's a nice mix of blur and pixelation that balances it out well. For composite, despite this being a cheap Chinese device, I'd say this is in the top tier of yellow-white-red I've ever seen, right alongside the Sansa TakeTV. Videos / movies are much more enjoyable to watch (also because of 4, since we can now watch MP4s which have better quality at the same file size).
10. Sega Genesis games ran very slowly and with terrible frame rate on the old model. They're much better on this one (try playing Sonic The Hedgehog); however, be careful what file you put on. Some .bin files won't work while others will, and .md files are not compatible (but if you rename them to .bin they will work). My Raiden Trad is a bit too fast, but it works, and Sonic The Hedgehog is decent. Also, there is no longer any input delay when playing games. I'm sure that's a pretty serious thing for some people. That Super Mario Bros. game on the main menu isn't painful to play anymore (but the sound pitch is still higher).
**The program I use for video conversion is OpenShot Video Editor. I think you have to pay for the Windows version, but the Linux version, available in Software Manager, is free. For the video kbps reference, you can choose any number you want at all, or a pre-selected number. On the list, the top number is 40 Mbps, Blu-Ray quality. I'm not sure how high the program can go. Maybe I'll test some of them on my own to see how much the MP5 can support. Just beware those insane file sizes; the device still supports a micro SD card of 8 GB from what I see, but I don't know how high the card size can go before the device rejects it. Videos could be a huge problem if they take up too much space for quality, and you don't need such phenomenal quality with 720x576p anyway (my usual resolution for this device, and its max useful resolution since it uses composite TV out and the screen's tiny blur may negate HD quality).
If you guys want me to make a video about the newer model, let me know. I'll show the differences in video if I can.
The only things I'm curious about is the design of the interface itself and if it's as slow as the one shown here. You don't need to waste your time making a proper video for me, because I don't intend on buying it anyway.
@@thearousedeunuch Well, naturally, all of these devices have slightly laggy interfaces. Like when you press a button and hear the sound effect respond but it takes a moment. However, there's a way to speed up navigation; you can go into the system setting and disable the screen changing animation. Instead of one screen rotating into the next, just set it to "off" and then screens will change instantly with no weird transitions. For me this makes it much closer to today's devices, no frustration. Rarely ever sticks and even still not for more than a second or two, like...ahem...today's devices.
The interface on my MP5 Player makes the thing in this video look as if someone started to create a GUI out of a command line interface, but stopped before they were done. The MP5 Player's interface looks like the "finished" version. Everything's bigger, selected items have orange highlighted bars, though the main menu screen looks mostly the same other than a couple of the apps on the bottom being flipped around. Anything that doesn't fit on the bottom goes in the "tools" section, but I still can't find video recording on there >...< the manual talks about recording video yet I can't make it happen. Kinda frustrating.
So maybe some of these devices tend to have one application just not able to fit on the selection screen, thus it can't be used. It might always be the video recorder, or maybe sometimes it's something else. No idea. I'd be careful considering it, though I admit I think I'll be getting another one of these soon to see how far it's been updated since the one I have right now.
@@Bro-cx2jc I didn't know that there was a way to turn off the animations. I did that on my old Nokia phone a few years ago and it improved the experience. I don't see why certain companies add transitions that they know are going to be pointless and not work as intended.
Maybe the video function is in the camera options itself instead than on the menu?
I wouldn't be surprised if not fitting things on the screen would be their criteria for removing stuff, to be honest.
@@thearousedeunuch I looked inside the camera too, and there's a video reel looking icon that says "off" at the bottom. I tried every button all over the place. Nothing. It stays on photo mode. You know, even if it's unreachable, I think that technically the function actually still exists, it just doesn't have any access point. Based on how cheap these things are (like I said, my original X6 froze permanently), I'd guess that's more than just a possibility. It certainly wouldn't be removed due to non functionality, because the FM radio doesn't work at all.
I think the animations are kind of cool, but not enough to stay when they make screen transitions take longer and lag sometimes.
@@Bro-cx2jc Yes, that would make sense. Did you try pressing and holding buttons or pressing a combination of buttons? On my old phones, I used to press the left or right arrow keys to toggle between photo and video mode.
