"The fact that's we're playing a block based game on a PS2 is wild"
Tomb Raider: "Excuse me?!"
Well her boobs were triangles Tbf😂
The analog button was for PS1 games. It turned off the analog controls because some older PS1 games wouldn’t work with them turned on. To get around this, later PS1 and PS2 controllers had a manual button you needed to press to make the controller work with those games.
Why would games even complain about that? It's not like analog sticks change the existing controls, they're just an add-on...
@@vlc-cosplayer the opposite is also true - PS1 games don't auto enable analog sticks so you would press that button to enable them
@vlc-cosplayer because old ps1 controllers without analog sticks were technically digital controllers. So when you turn the analog off on the newer controllers it shows up as digital. This was during an era where nothing was really streamlined well into 1 well understood language. Everything was proprietary and came with its own quirks.
Omg ty i always wanted to know that i just neer googled it and with time forgot about it
Before watching, my thoughts are that the PS2 can run Minecraft, but there’s a significant catch, being the exact version of Minecraft. A direct port will rarely function well, especially on limited hardware, but a system specific edition can work well. The problem though is time and effort needed to create and maintain several unique instances isn’t financially feasible, which is why Microsoft stopped it with Minecraft specifically.
I mean that applies to just about any piece of hardware. Realistically you could make your own console that is capable of playing all PlayStation games from ps1 to ps5. It's just that it wouldn't be worth it.
The amount of time, skill, and money it would require to make this thing would not be worth it and would have to be made solely as a passion project. Forget even trying to sell this thing, no one could afford it.
@@G1sandG1rlsGamingI have a fully upgraded version of MindCraft running on my PSP1001, microsoft has a internal development team that DOES work on new software for very old devices. I worked there for 17 years. We have a version of Age of Empires 4 that runs on a 486dx33 and the Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo . These versions are kept in a vault and only given to those who are worthy. When Fermi Labs finishes the time portal project, we will be sending software back in time. We will only be able to information back not people, I have had the pleasure of witnessing the tests brother as Microsoft is part of the time team. We will blow your mind.
@@G1sandG1rlsGamingYou realise that the ps5 could feasibly play ps 1 through 5.....right? Ps 1 and 2 are laughably easy to emulate. You can literally do it with a basic laptop with integrated graphics, either intel integrated graphics or AMD integrated graphics. PS3 is the only real challenge. It's only the last few years PS3 emulation has become viable, but the vast majority of PS3 titles, even the most demanding PS3 titles such as the last of us, are playable via PS3 emulation on the exact same RDNA based desktop GPUs as of that in the ps5.
The PS5 is just mid range gaming pc. With a Ryzen CPU, and an RDNA GPU roughly equivalent to an RTX 2070. More than enough grunt for PS3 emulation. So you have ps5 and PS4 games that play natively on the ps5 as is. PS1 PS2 laughably easy to emulate even on a basic laptop without a dedicated GPU. And PS3 that can be emulated and is routinely emulated with the vast majority games playable at full speed on the exact same hardware on pc.
Tldr; you massively overestimate how hard it'd be for Sony to release an update on the PS5 releasing emulation support for PS 1, 2 AND 3. 4 and 5 already plays natively on the system. Genuinely. You honestly massively massively overestimate how hard it'd be. The PS5 is full x86 architecture. When PS5 homebrew matures towards the end of the ps5s lifecycle, you will legit be able to play PS 1, 2 and 3 via emulation on a PS5. It has the power to do so, you can emulate ps3 just fine on the exact same RDNA based desktop GPUs.
Unfortunately, Sony simply are not interested in doing so. Not because it'd be a challenge, it literally wouldn't, again, this is literally done by many many pc gamers on the exact same hardware that's in the ps5. The PS5 isn't custom silicon in anyway, like the cell processor in the PS3. Neither was the PS4, the PS4 was also just a, for the.time, mid range gaming pc. That's why the ps5 plays PS4 games, but the PS4 didn't play PS3 games. The ps 1, 2 and 3 were custom in house designs. PS4 and 5, full x86 based CPUs and a desktop gaming GPU. Sony won't do it because there's little financial incentive. Remakes sell. Giving users the ability to emulate 3 generations of Sony consoles, not so much.
Would it take them long to do? No. Would it be massively consumer friendly? Yes. Will they do it? No.
But they could. To say it'd take massive amounts of time and resources though is literally not true. It would probably take a few weeks for them to port the most popular PS1, 2 and 3 emulators to the PS5. Literally.
@@jakeroscoe8238 Obviously Jake I wasn't clear so allow me to elaborate.
YOU as in YOURSELF AND YOU. JAKE ROSCOE could make your own console. Not Sony the company that obviously could do this because they literally own the source code for all of these consoles. You, the average Shmoe is whom I was referring to.
As far as affordability. No it would not be in the slightest. Yes, you could simply build a pc and install emulators on it, but not everything would be guaranteed to work, especially more modern games.
Hell the playstation vita itself only has a little over half of it's collection playable via an emulator, just due to how difficult the programming is on that tiny little device.
What I am referring to is a genuine hardware, that is capable of playing disks from each of these devices. It would be possible to build something like this, the unfortunate problem is it would cost so much money to build this thing that no one would want to pay for it. The person making them would literally have to be throwing money away just to get these into peoples hands.
Sony officially released Linux for the PS2 and it's been benchmarked to run Minecraft and even join servers

@mosemister yea I guess didn't really think about that but would be cool if you could I guess lol

You don't need to mod a PS2 at all anymore, you can just use the DVD player exploit to run burnt discs directly
The DVD exploit only works for some fats, but all slims. It's also better to use the DVD exploit to install FMCB on a memory card so you can play games off the hard drive or on a USB or over the network.
burning discs is kind of a pain, its better to use OPL to run games from a hard drive or a server
@@Rsapn It seems like once there's a version that works with all versions of the console it'll be useful for making homebrew games available for sale
u would need the controller tho
I used to play PS2 with my uncle and the analog button for some games allowed you to use the “joystick” instead of the D-Pad for movement
bro 99% of games force you to use the analog sticks its only the launch games that use the D-Pad for movement 💀

dude this video is amazing.
if you get stick drift on a ps2, it sometimes can happen because the sticks weren't central when plugging in the controller or turning on the console. Whereever they are during those moments is where the center is considered to be.
I love your channel and video, but respectfully could you edit your audio in your future videos to have less harsh high pitch sounds. It's mostly coming from the S sounds. I wear earbuds and it's a little distracting. Your videos are great and keep up the good work 🤙

@@DrkTriqz Not sure

I put Free McBoot onto my own memory card which was very time consuming but it is possible with a blank CD and some files you can download off the web that you have to put onto the CD itself. The CD has to be put into the console in order for Free McBoot to be installed onto the PS2 memory card.
Funny seeing you so surprised and thrilled the PS2 starts up and the memory card still has saves on it - I have my PS2 and its cards, PSX/PS1 and its cards, N64 and its save files on carts plus on cards also SNES with saves in the carts that almost all still work! Only a couple of SNES carts saves don't last more than a few days, all else is about a decade older than this PS2 of yours and still works fine!
The analog button has a pretty simple explanation. It toggles the the analog sticks. When it’s off the analog sticks don’t work and when it’s on it allows you to use them. I think the main use case was if you were playing a ps1 game on the ps2 you could toggle the sticks off.
Was just about to say this
Thank you for reminding me the ps1 is 18 years old now.....

The PS2 has an awesome feature to slow/stop your stick drift. Starting from the center, rotate the stick around the edge a full circle and it'll track the minimum and max values it saw and create a new deadzone/center. So with one stick flip you essentially remove all stick drift (Every console should have this as a minimum)
i wanted to see how to download super mario 64 on wii and so i see a new video from you😳
So where's Minecraft.
Did you watch the video?
The analog button was to switch from sticks to dpad on some games in case you wanted to

PS2 is actually 23 years old, turning 24 in March.
Just a quick heads up you don't need to buy that memory card.. all you need is a burnable disc and ofc an usb memory stick. Buying the memory card with the mod preinstalled is basically the more lazy way to do it when its already pretty easy to do it yourself.
Well if you don't have any dvd discs you can use and also if you dont have an dvd drive that can burn for your computer.. buying the memory card with the mod preinstalled is definitely the cheaper way to go. But if you have a dvd drive for your pc that can burn discs.. I definitely recommend to do it yourself its kinda fun and easy experience to do.
The PS2 is 22 years old btw
24 years old
24 lmao
That analogue button on the PS2 controller, turned on and off the analogue sticks. But not all programs like you turn it off.
Pretty sure it was also there to turn on and off the analog buttons, not just the sticks. The analog buttons being all the face pieces since they were all pressure sensitive
The analog button makes it so you can play ps1 games that support the analog sticks
Just for those of you who are also wondering, the analog button on the PS2 controller turns off the analog sticks
The analog butyon switches between the anolog stocks and the d pad
As well as turning off the pressure sensitive (analog) function of the face buttons
You could create a new category. To see what jiggies you could collect per level as banjo only. Kazooie can only be used in the hub world.
The analog button is for flying sims

Bro love minecraft more than anyone else
the analog button was more of a backwards compatibility feature than anything else, before the dualshock controller was released, games didn't use an analog stick, but when it was released most games followed, the analog button allowed you to turn on the analog feature for those games or to turn it off and play the old way with the directional pad, some games in the PS2 used the analog primarily but would let you disable it and make the directional pad the primary imput, it was rare for PS2 games but fairly common for PS1 games, keep in mind that games that didn't support the analog stick would not work with it even if the light was on, an example of this would be Dino Crisis and Crash Bandicoot which didn't incorporate analog sticks untill the third entry in the series and thats the reason the awfully sounding Resident Evil Director's Cut Dual Shock Ver. came into existance.
That button's got quite the story...
The Analog button disables the Thumbsticks for when you're playing a PS1 game that didn't support the Thumbsticks

u actually could mod the ps2 with opening the console and using game called 007: agent under fire, and swapping burned cd with modified savefile(freemcboot) while it was saving after u played the first mission. then after that it was just about copying it to other memorycards. i remember the struggle as we tried everything to mod our consoles and finally succeeded :) after freemcboot u could play from burned disks and usb sticks.
ps2 doesn't read usb sticks etc so there was very limited ways to get the softmod software to the memorycard
