Thanks for the vid. Cartier is such a storied brand. Glad to see it getting much deserved coverage and appreciation. As a proud owner of the Tank Française , I have to say, they exude a charm few watches come close to.
Omg I can’t stop watching you. This is how something so delicate and sophisticated like watches should be reviewed, with finesse (not with boring stats). Also, I love the way you wear your watches above the wrist bone even with a long sleeve, so elegant. You definitely deserve a gold standard here
I’m with you… I bought my Santos medium about 2 months ago and my other watches are begging to be worn. It’s my first Cartier, never really gave them a look before, but it has exceeded all expectations. The fit and finish, comfort on the wrist, and details are just SUPERB. The tech in the bracelet is just icing on the cake.
I just received my ‘grail’ Cartier, the Santos de Cartier Skeleton, in steel. I absolutely love it. But it’s like you say- now the doors are open, I want every Cartier model. There’s just something totally distinct about the brand that separates them from other watches. They’re addictive somehow.
Im starting too to like Cartier way more than i did before, because i got a vintage Must for mi first Tank and boy am i in love, and this video did nothing but help my freakishnew love for cartier to evolve! Great video bud, keep it up!
I just finished the book The Cartiers (which feels like a real accomplishment since it is 24+ hours on Audible) and am also now deep into the brand. I wish the book had more content about their watches, but the company’s history with royalty and the wealthy is fascinating. Your videos on the Santos have me swooning…
YT recommended this video to me after a few days of getting the tank must 2022. Your tone and storytelling is so captivating that you earned a like and sub!!
I started with the Santos de Cartier large on my 17cm wrist. Recently added a sixth Cartier to my collection, a large Solarbeat Tank. I am truly addicted and now I have seen the new Santos Dumont I really want another!
I purchased the Cartier Santos Medium WSSA0029 last week from the Cartier website. It’s my first Cartier watch. It arrived quickly, in just a few days, to my USA address from Texas. The watch arrived gift wrapped in white paper and tied with a red ribbon. A red Cartier bag was also included. They included both the tan and navy blue leather straps, even though I only chose the navy blue strap option. The bracelet really did not need adjustment for my approximately 7 inch wrist. This Santos Medium fits me perfectly. I love it! It does not look like any other watch in my collection.
As a avid watch collector who still wears a suit to work, I find a Cartier a must have. I have been going back and forth between the Santos, Solo XL(Must now) and the Americaine. I will own one of these by Christmas. Bathyscaphe be damned!
@@gmosaza I decided to go with the Solo or Must because the prices have been driven up in the others crazily and are also hard to find(especially the Santos) but I’m having trouble getting new Must or XL. Will be heading back down to 5th Ave and scour Cartier, Wempe, Tournea and WOS. I’ll post back when it’s in my possession.
Same thing happened to me when I bought my large santos de Cartier blue dial. Keep in mind I had been wearing the same SS date just for 33 years. It was a high school graduation present. The sentimental attachment was so strong that it took me 14 years to pull the trigger. Almost half the time I had the first watch. I haven’t put it on since.
I have 2 Santos timepieces: one is stainless steel, the other in stainless steel and gold. I would kill before giving up either. Once I got those, I stopped looking at all other brands.
You are the BEST. I live in Salem and have several unusual watches you may consider… just sayin. Would love to meet you and thank you for your superb content and humor. I don’t leave comments much and as a 54 year old dad of 3 kids, haven’t mastered social media. But I know how to leave a comment and I know how hard it is to deliver content as you do. Thank you! Doug
Although Cartier's iconic name does not brings our minds as "watch maker" but more as jewelry brand, the timeless and refined designs of their timepieces are such a major factor for all watch lovers and horology enthusiasts.. Medium Santos de Cartier and new 40mm Ballon Bleu is my all time favorites alongside with 36mm silver dial jubilee bracelet and fluted bezel Rolex DJ (126234)... I hardly like tool or sports watches as i mostly adore timeless classic timepieces and i never understand the hype of sports watches around the world though. Thx for video and good to see someone has a real "taste" on watches!
It’s so refreshing to see someone who understands proportions and the correct framing on the wrist, showing off the case but also the bracelet or strap rather than the idiotic belief that the lugs should meet the edges of the wrist 🤦♂️. People can learn a lot by the “rule of thirds” and understanding some padding or space is often required for a good establishing composition. People moaning about the medium size probably don’t understand the true characteristics of the gentleman in the respect of attire. Proportion is key to class over clumsy. Great video! 👍
Oh hell, brand loyalty, yeah, that's a thing. I have a soft spot for watches. And for cufflinks. After a few cufflinks from S.T. Dupont I discovered Cartier who in fact had cufflinks in their collection since their early days. Subsequently I took a look at their watches, sneaking around the Tank Francaise for quite some time. But when I got the Tank Americaine into my hands I immediately fell in love with it. I purchased the medium size in steel recently, more than 13 years after my last luxury watch purchase. I thought I had enough watches to wear, with one versatile daily beater, one sporty chronograph and one watch more on the dressy side. But the Tank Americaine is so different to my other watches, much smaller and really dressy, so elegant, shiny and so beautiful.
8:07. I absolutely agree! Honestly, I have grown tired of all the big, chunky dive watches you tend to see on everyones wrists thee days. They all begin to look the same. So it’s refreshing to revert back to a more elegant style with the Cartier pieces.
Your plural of Santos made me laugh! My Cartier Tank Must XL arrives tomorrow. I have added it to my collection A. because I love Cartier anyway & B. because I'm struggling to think where else I could purchase another watch with the brand prestige, design, craftsmanship, history & style of Cartier at this price point. The price is UK £3,150.00, however, included as a gift on purchase is a Montblanc pen (Watches Of Switzerland,) which retails at £190.00 which in effect takes the watch to under £3k, which in my head is a relative bargain. Another plus point is that the automatic movement is covered by Cartier for a total of 8 years. Buying this watch was for me a no-brainer & I'm really looking forward to seeing it in the 'flesh' for the first time tomorrow!
@@Hans-Georg_Buddne The polished part will definitely scratch, have a few light scratches already, but a watch belongs on the wrist, my father had the octagonal cartier which he wore all the time and it looked great, I think it just adds character. My opinion of Cartier watches was that they were on the dainty side. Now 2 Cartier de Santos large later, I'm singing a different tune. I have worn Rolex sports and dress models a vast majority of the time. However, my Cartier watches have significantly cut into Rolexes wrist time. I wear my 2 tone Santos on an alligator strap for about 50% of my more formal outings. I use the all steel variant about 30-40% of the time as either a sports watch or a daily wearer. The versatility, iconic design and heritage makes the Santos a great addition to any Men's timepiece collection and might be one of the absolutely best options for a one watch collection guy. In a subsequent video the content creator stated he sold his Santos medium, I wonder if he is having seller's remorse.
@YoureTerrific thanks for the video-was just about to go and try on the auto tank must at my A.D , however, I am already nervous as I was thinking of the last time I saw the watch on your wrist; looks great on camera but I said it may be too big when I see it in the metal and my wrist size is 7.5. I am not sure why cartier will make such a home run watch with all the right features and then have it in only XL? what is up with Cartier reserving autos and manual winds in XL size? I think I am going to leave a really serious email with them concerning this issue because this is now becoming silly!
Cartier's are just damn good looking but they also benefit from what they don't look like which are popularly styled tool watches. no knock against them but the contrast offered by Cartier is quite refreshing. oh and uh great video! thanks.
