Michael and I really appreciated your sweet and thoughtful shoutout to us in this video, Laura! It means so much to me that my fabric choices have resonated with you and your own process of stitching. I agree with you that something really beautiful happens in that process of combining together the projects and the fabrics that bring us joy. Thank you for watching and sending some new friends our way! Happy stitching 💕
Looking forward to your next video!
Hi Laura. I just wanted to say I so enjoy spending time with you. Thank you for another great one!
yay to the poppy finish! 🥳🥳 i love seeing all your progress and your new dragon start will be beautiful 😍😍 happy stitching! ❤️
Hi Laura, Love all your projects. When I use fusible interfacing I put parchment paper between my iron and fabric. It works great!
What a brilliant idea! I’m going to give that a try.
So much goodness! The daisies and the poppies together, that's going to be a lovely spread! Always enjoy your progress, and I love to see what you pull out next : ) love when you pull "stray snow flakes out of the air" that was funny and I love, love, love how fish 'n ships is going! Thank you Laura for sharing!
The poppies and Daisies look awesome! Congratulations on overcoming that edging. 🎈🎈🎈
Thank you 🙂
You finished the poppies! Congratulations. I know that border was a challenge.
I absolutely love love love how your poppies turned out!
Love seeing your smiling face. Am home recuperating from surgery....you always make me smile. Can't wait to see how Sgael comes along each week.....I saw a flosstube where Rebecca pronounces Sgael's name....Suh-gail. Seeya next week!
The poppy FO is beautiful!!
Congratulations 🎉🎉
I love your Crocette a Gogo flowers! I remember when you were stitching up the daisy. They make a beautiful pair. So happy for you that you pushed thru on the poppy. They're lovely!
Enjoyed all the stitching.
Hi Laura, thank you for another great video. I always enjoy listening to you while stitching. The poppies look amazing, I was looking forward to see them done. Congratulations! I have them on my wish list as well :) And as for the penguins, when you started about different color, I was like - It’s Laura, the fabric is going to be blue :D but it really looks great. So happy stitching!
I am in awe of how your poppies turned out. Stunning!
Thank you 😀
🖤🐇💛🧵🖤🪡💛🐰🖤
The poppies stitch is so beautiful
Love all the stitching. Sounds like the dinner was a success hope they do it more often. Can’t wait to see your dragons progress. See ya next week.
The dragon head is complete and I love how it’s looking!
For variegated floss, if you want to outline something to fill in later… outline with half crosses so when you do the fill-in you can do the top legs of those stitches and the color will match. 😊
Beautiful stitching!
I love the color fabric you stitched your Cottage Garden February pattern in - so pretty! Oh my gosh, I love that penguin pattern - thanks for enabling! Haha.
😁
Thank you, once again. Videos are amazing.
Your finishes are great. The dragons are gorgeous. I really like that you stitch on aida so much. I do both aida and linens. In fact my recent finish was on 14 ct aida. "He Is Risen" by Stoney Creek in two colors of purple. Also a heart sampler on 40 ct. lt. pink linen of unknown make. It was a little one at about 3" finished. So cute. Was a free chart in an order. Congrats to he winners. I usually stitch while watching floss tubes but not today. Have the flu going thru my house and my little grandson needs grandma. Look forward to your next video. Oh, I did preorder Jan Hick's new red chart ( plus a few other things from various designers). Lindystitches makes it too easy to preorder.
What great projects!
So many pretty stitches.
I always look forward to Friday so I can watch a new Stitching by the Shore update! Your stitching is beautiful as always. I absolutely love the fabric you are stitching Fish and Ships on! Your dragon is going to be equally gorgeous. I hope you have a wonderful week❤
I love watching and visiting with you every Friday. On the pumpkins when you stitch with the fancy floss you might want to stitch top to bottom so if there is any striping it goes like a real pumpkin. I hope this makes sense.
That does make sense - thank you for the advice.
I love your channel! I don’t comment much but I watch every single episode.
Funny, I’m stitching the same Celtic Dragon as you! I think this is gonna be really interesting, although I’m using boring Anchor Black lol.
Have a wonderful week and I’ll see you next Friday!🥰
Great video Laura! I am behind but catching up 😊 I love seeing your progress on WIPs.
As for using variegated floss, I've always stitched 1 stitch at a time. I don't outline and I don't do 1/2 stitch across then come back. You also have to watch the direction you are stitching. If you stitch in different directions, it will look all over the place. I am not experienced, but I do have several WIPs with fancy floss and find that you have to figure out how you want your final art to show. Good luck. It will be a cute finish with those blues.
I wish I lived close so I could help with the ATC cards. With the variegated floss, I plan how I want it to look so I know if I should stitch in circles or rows or do every second stitch and then come back for completely scattered look. If you want it to look outlined, go for it.
Loved seeing you and hearing about your stitching and life in general. Have a great 2 weeks.
My summer quacker is done ❤
So awesome!
I watched your video over the weekend while I was beading my Earthdancer and I knew there were things I wanted to say and I forgot what they were lol. I use a lint free dish towel as my pressing cloth when I'm using interfacing. Part of it is because it's what I had on hand the first time I did it and the other is because it will stand up to the heat and repetitive use.
Thank you for the mention and the kind words. Three of my dragons are indeed Teresa Wentzlers including the big one with the castle :). I really like how your blue for your dragon is looking on Brandi's fabric. Depending on what I'm stitching with a variegated floss and the color itself, I'll stitch in different ways. If I'm doing a house, I might enjoy a stripey look to mimic siding, and go back and forth along rows, crossing every stitch. If I want more of a mottled look, I'll do my bottom leg across a row and then come back so the color changes aren't as distinct. If I'm doing something like your dragon, or the celtic knot I probably would try a bit of stitching an outline and continuing to work my way in. If you don't like how it looks, you can always change your method.
I enjoy the fact that you're stitching the outside of you Summer Quaker first since I started with the middle scene.. I figured the quakers and crabs and such would be more fun so I'm saving them for last.. I wanted to get the water and the houses out of the way first. 🪡👠
Love the Summer Poppies and Daisies finish. Both are so BEAUTIFUL❣️Glad to hear you had a great vegan valentine dinner on Super Bowl Sunday. I’ve never cared mush for football. I stitched and watched Flosstube. - Im not vegan but wish restaurants offered organic foods, and desserts made with natural sweeteners. C’est la vie. 🤷🏼♀️ Have a great stitching weekend 🤗
Hi Laura. Love your dragon project! When I use variegated floss, to get a more three-dimensional effect rather than a stripey look, I do outline the shape, then fill in going around the shape instead of back and forth. It usually ends up looking really cool - give it a try!
Thanks for the advice!
So glad our videos are long enough to finish to! We always worry they're too long, but now I can just say they're long enough to finish your stitch. 😂😂
Dark chocolate!!! Yes!!! Love your Long Dog Sampler! I'm in southern NJ. We can see the lights on top of the Delaware Memorial Bridge when we drive into town. We're forecast to get 4-6 inches of snow overnight.
Your Summer Quaker looks awesome on the 18 count aida. I am going to start mine for my birthday start in August and I am thinking of using 20 count aida and 1 over 1 full cross. I have never used 1 strand on anything and I always use 2 strands but I think 2 strands would be very bulky on 20 count aida. I am totally enjoying yours for now. I love your Long Dog Sampler. That white really pops on that fabric. Happy Stitching.
Thank you! I think it would look great in 20 count.
YAY!! Thank you for joining our DRAGON SAL! I absolutely love your fabric choice :)
A old pillow case would work for ironing on the interface. Hugs Ann
Thank you so much for that suggestion - hadn’t thought of that!
The poppy finish is gorgeous! And I think my heart skipped a beat when you said my name. Thank you!
PLEASE FORGIVE ME!! I have just subscribed to your channel and I have several questions, so thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions, or anyone else who might answer my questions.
1. What type of adhesive interfacing do you use on the back of your projects?
2. How do you count how many stitches you have done each time you stitch?
3. Did you say that you are making a type of scrapbook with your projects mounted as pages in the book? I have thought of doing this many times but don't know how to begin!! I think the idea might just be brilliant!
Thank you so much, Mickey
there is a playlist for the scrapbook ua-cam.com/video/k-pdxqZZrr8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StitchingByTheShore
The interfacing is pellon 950F
Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions. I thoroughly enjoy watching your channel!! Mickey
Love your poppies! I stitched the daisy by that designer! So pretty!
I need those penguins in my stash. So glad you picked the orange for the dragon - stunning !!!!!!!! Glad you enjoyed your dinner ... I appreciate vegan & plant based foods that are not salads ;) I can make that at home.
Congrats on the poppies finish, that had to have felt so good to do.
Yep, a little happy finish dance with that one!
@@stitchingbytheshore well deserved happy dance!! Totally meant to say I’m loving the new dragon start. That fabric 😍 perfection
Hi Laura, I often hear you comment that you pull out your DMC book when you are considering color changes. I own one of those books, but I'm fairly sure I'm not using it properly. I don't understand the columns and the little squares next to them. Would you consider a supplemental FlossTube on this topic?
You need to change your snow stitch to a rain stitch. 😅 I hope you show all the a t c cards, like you did last time that you got.
a precipitation stitch :D
You can outline the dragin with just one leg of the stitch then when you fill in you can complete the stitch and it shouldn't show that much of a difference.
Tfs🤗💕
Hey Laura! Great content as always. Question: it’s obvious you iron your work each weekend (kudos on that commitment 😊), but I also notice your fabric is NEVER fraying. How do you pull that off???
I don't think it would make a difference on variegated floss whether you do the outlining first and then the fill in. I've never really thought about it.
Love your videos! You have mentioned DMC floshe(?) many times and I have no clue what that is. Could you possibly show a skein of it sometime and correct my spelling of it which I am betting is wrong. I would like to try it but, locally, I can’t find it. Thanks and happy stitching!😊
What type of interfacing do you use?
I use Pellon 950F
I look forward to Fridays so your have a new video! I have a lot of trouble stitching a lot of white but your Fish and Chips looks great. Do you find that the floche works better?
🐴🐴🐴
I root for the underdog also, I really wanted the Lions in the Super Bowl. Great stitches! How much snow did you get? We got like two inches
Just the smallest of dustings. I was able to justify my snow stitch, but just barely.
Are you going to do the SAL with the he is risen pattern from the Just Cross Stitch magazine for Easter? I don’t remember who I was watching but they said they thought you were.
Yes, Georgia Girl Stitching and I were going to Sal it.
How do you spell flus, the thicker thread you are talking about?
Floche - I was able to get mine at 123 Stitch.
@@stitchingbytheshore Thank you
