I am 68 years old. I have never followed what the style gurus decide is all the rage. My children slept in bedroom furniture from our grandparents homes. They had a designated place for toys. The one time I caved and let my daughter have pink walls in her bedroom, we repainted to off-white in a few years time because she outgrew it. Your home is wonderful. You are blessed to have such wonderful family heirlooms. Your show is special because you make a glorious home with a budget in mind. If I were you, the minute I felt negative vibes in a comment, I would stop reading and delete it. Bless you and keep you and your precious family.

I am a 73 year old grandma that started out living my first 13 years in Illinois and the family moved to an area in Florida where the homes are mostly stucco and look the same. In today's world we need more of your content. We all like different color combinations, different styles and who are we to criticize the hard work of a mother trying to make her and her family's home inviting, relaxing and happy along with taking items that others have tossed aside and give them new life. You are an inspiring, caring young woman that gives the word, Grace a new meaning. You could have easily been upset, but instead have forgiven those who share negativity instead of support!! Kristen, there is absolutely no reason you have to explain why you chose the color and decor for your baby’s and little girl’s room. Your home is absolutely beautiful and I emphasize “your” home because you are the one who decides how to decorate. You must do what works for you and your family. Let some of the naysayers live in a 100 year old house, and they might better understand how and why you live like you do (and I do). They might have handed you lemons, but God helped you to make lemonade with the lessons learned and the beautiful story of the "toile fabric". How amazing and faithful HE is with that blessing!

This is Grandma from Texas. Everything is so lovely. Thank you for sharing. I have NEVER styled my home by what is trending etc. I’m 71 years old and have seen trends come and go. When my first granddaughter was born I bought a crystal chandelier for her room instead of typical baby girl nursery lighting. One of the sweet memories I have of her is standing under the shining glimmering lights dancing through prisms of color. Back then no one was putting chandeliers in nurseries. Now it is common place,, 😘Your sense of style is unique and very very lovely just as you yourself are. Im not worried about you. You will be fine and stronger. Kristen, this is my first time I have watched you. I love your sincere and beautiful personality, your home is a reflection of you. I can just imagine your children coming home from school and having an after school snack in your cozy kitchen. Your girls’ bedroom is so special with well thought out heirloom pieces, reminiscent of another time. I have been an early childhood educator/admin for many years, I would have loved all the children I have known to come from a family such as yours. For perspective, right now I know a child that has no bedroom and is sleeping on her living room couch. It’s the love in the home that matters the most and the wellbeing of the family. Kristin, I don’t normally comment on any videos, but I was doing the dishes and watching this and I just want to tell you that I’m SO proud of you!! In my 20s and 30s I really cared more than I should have about others opinions. I’m currently 47 and it was really after I turned 40 that I stopped caring as much and I’m so happy that you didn’t give your peace and joy away and you are standing firm for what’s best for you and your family!! Just because someone else wouldn’t decorate that way doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It would be so boring if we all had pottery barn homes. I love your style!! Hi Kristen, it really upset me that people criticised the beautiful bedroom makeover you carried out. It is your home and you do whatever you want to your home. When I was a child I shared a bedroom with four of my brothers and sisters. There were only beds and chests of drawers in the room. It was a room for sleeping in and we all slept well after our wonderful mother said a prayer with us and kissed us goodnight. I have six older brothers and sisters too and they all had their own bedrooms and there was only a bed and a chest of drawers or a wardrobe in their bedrooms. We played outside or in the loungeroom - never ever in a bedroom. I absolutely love your videos. You give me so much inspiration and joy. Keep up the great work of giving your family all your love and kindness.

My grandparents, my parents, myself, my daughter and now granddaughter have a room just like this one that we grown into, loved, rested and cherished for all our lives.
We did not have TV in our rooms but tons of books, piano, arts and lots of laughs!
This room is exactly what a child needs filled with love and hardworking lessons that will enlighten any child's mind and heart.

As a small channel, I was lucky to not receive too much negativity on my daughter’s room tour I did several years ago. It’s dark green with curated collected vintage and antiques. I appreciate a room a child can grow into regardless of the color. There is a place for everything and she’s just fine not having pink walls (she chose green and to go dark with her room as a child so I made it happen). Who cares what the naysayers say! Your home is for you and your family! ❤

They are missing the joy of being happy and grateful for what God has given to all of us. Having a nice home takes work and effort. Not a lot of money. My husband and 2 boys came from nothing and I went to a ton of garage sales and even picked up things that were free on the side of the road for our home. I don’t comment usually on anything I watch on You Tube, but I must say that I find your baby’s/little girl’s room absolutely cozy, lovely and unique. I would feel very loved in that room at any age. It's so nice to see a home filled with personality from things you love. Most houses on decorating/thrifting videos have the same look, full of shades of tan and white, white dishes, pale paint and rugs, and those overdone wall signs about love and family. Your house has something unique and interesting everywhere you look. You can tell your things were chosen because you love them, not because they're trendy and like everyone else's decor. They say when you walk into a home, it should tell something about its owners. Your house says you love things because of their beauty and meaning, NOT that you're unimaginative. Please keep it up!!

You shouldn't be bothered by those negative comments because i can guarantee your style is your family's unique style. It doesn't have to please or follow the likes and wants of others to see in your home... because your home is different from theirs. You have a wonderful style in every different corner of your home. Kristen, the entire house looks like a cozy farmhouse. The flowers and plants are so pretty sitting around. And as far as the nursey, redo..I thought it was so cute...so real. It's real life. I absolutely LOVE your channel. You are so uplifting to others. I am an early childhood educator and coach and it NEVER once crossed my mind that your nursery was inappropriate. I actually thought the very opposite. I was saddened to hear that others were trying to be discouraging to you when you are so encouraging to us. You are so right! What you and your family like does not ever have to be ok with anybody else. You are happy, your children and your husband seem to be happy. Hey even the dog looks happy. Not everybody can keep that many people happy. You just keep doing what you do . I think you are doing an amazing job.. Some of us old ladies have been there and done that. Amen Sister! You nailed it. This past year I did a study on the churches Paul set up. One thing I about Brother Paul, he worked as he traveled to take care of his needs. He didn’t rely on the churches to give him money. He had a heart for what he was chosen to do.
When we finally realize that God is the one that gives us our needs, then we can rest in his presence and enjoy the peace and joy he gives us. Not worried about what this world has to say or what it’s doing. Living our best life despite of this world because we follow Christ . Much love to you and your family❤. For what it’s worth, I love your children’s rooms. I love how beautiful it looks without screaming “nursery”. I want an Anne of Green Gables style of room for my two little daughters and your room makes me think of that. Commenters sometimes forget UA-camrs are real people and can be way more loose with their words than they would be in person. Be encouraged that you’re making a beautiful home AND life for your children. 🩷
