Hello, my name is Naomi. I have been practicing in Southern California since 2012. I opened my own firm because after seeing how the work comp "mills" functioned, I knew there was a better way. My firm is different because our clients are able to access their attorney and we focus on client education, so they are informed and feel comfortable throughout the entire work comp process.

Thank you for the comment Nelson!
The meeting sounds like a good idea. What you're describing is common for big "work comp mills". Intake with just an intake worker non lawyer use to be common until they changed the rules. Now an attorney is suppose to meet with you in person or via telephone to explain the attorney fees at least.
In those mills, commonly people would only see an attorney for the first time (sometimes only time) at a deposition. Even hearings were always done with hearing reps not attorneys.
I'm glad they are finally giving you a meeting :-)

This is utterly heart wrenching..Especially trying to find one after you find out they didn't care to help..they told him 5 months...The toll its taken on my Father is taking a toll on me. He hired an Attorney 2 years ago and paid $20k for 2 subpoenas and a petition of Trust.
Instead, and after the agreement she said she couldn't do these things unless she filed a lawsuit. Now almost 2 years later, the other side stated no evidence..My father almost had a nervous breakdown. He asked her why shed do this. Finding out she NEVER did the subpoenas and she never petitioned the Trust.
My Father showed in court devestated and stressed with his bag of evidence.. The judge asked why he was there. After that she sent him a file with a note to be dismissed. Now he is worried about turning in evidence struggling, supporting my grandma, working physical labor...and he doesnt know what to do. It is horrible. It is breaking my heart. Finding an attorney is so difficult. Watching him fight for justice for Grandma while hes being harrased and threatened...there are no words..I wish this world was for justice..Not full of people who lie..they have no comprehension of the duress they further cause an individual..
Ive tried to help I've tried to find an Attorney..I dont know how to help him. Hes raised 8 of us as a single father and he has worked so hard and contines to. I would give anything to have it turned around. But what do you do when the attorney wont respond while you cant find an Attorney to take over..while you have to submit evidence and its too overwhelming..what do you do..

I had a lawyer that over promised, lied even after trying to understand the stituation the lawyer was keeping things from me untill I kept asking to get things cleear. Then I noticed the lawyer switched and started taking sides with the other party which is the defendant. After all that I send the lawyer my concerns of how they are not protecting my rights. Then the lawyer send a reply back they will dissolve themselves from the case because I didn't cooperate which is not true trying to play the blame game. After the lawyer left the other party their lawyer called and said the same things even pressuring to me answer. I told her I am not answering you untill I get a new lawyer and also I had to advise the court about this. Take care who you deal with some just want to take your money and manipulate you. Protect your rights!!!

If you need a criminal defense lawyer, be very careful of ex-prosecutors. They have formed personal relationships with cops and other prosecutors and may be wary of crossing them over certain cases. If they say they are good defense lawyers because they know the shady backroom stuff, that is a sign they be making implicit assurances for you which are utter BS.

    Hi !
Thank you so much for this info ! I had a quick question, during the intake is it okay to meet with the lead investigator of the law firm or it should always be the attorney?

    • @GonzalezLawEmpower
      @GonzalezLawEmpower  2 роки тому +1

Thank you for your question Martha,
It is fine for you to meet with a lead investigator as well but also with the attorney. Especially for workers compensation.
Ask them how accessible your attorney will be during your case. If they are not accessible on intake, they probably won't be later either.

Hello my name is Reb ...my WC case was denied back in January 2023.
. I was injured 12/22/22 and my attorney and the insurance company has dragged my case to date..I finally saw a Dr. In June 2023....I've been to the DR. Had my disposition was already seen by a QME and found to be 80% due to industrial injury at work and 20% due to basic deterioration... QME recommended having 2nd MRI to my back and hip along with steroids and possibly chiropractor.
My EDD temp disability payments already stopped a month ago..
What can I do now I feel alone my attorney only talks to me whenever I call or email her she never gives me information unless I asked her to.
I'm basically back to financially in a burden again because this case has dragged so long I only began getting benefits in August 2023. From 12/22/22 till 08/10/23 I was in Financial discombobulated.. almost homeless.. well my question is... What can I do now?? I need someone who actually takes my case or me as a real human being.. seriously. ??.. 😮‍💨😩

I have a concern with my current lawyer. It’s a two brother team. I have only spoke with the one brother but his brother did handle the deposition and prep me. I have two cases with two different employers on two different body parts. I’m concerned with how long the older one is taking and the fact that other than the doctor visits everyone is being denied.

      Hi there,
I suggest you schedule a meeting with your attorney and talk strategy for your case regarding the timing of the two settlements. Since they are with different employers, they usually will settle in different settlement docs and different times. Your attorney knows the details of your case and should be able to tell you if they foresee any complications or credits with this case due to the settlement timing.
For general problems with your attorney, here is a video that might help

@@GonzalezLawEmpower thank you Naomi. My concern I’d the older case was a knee injury. My employer at the time didn’t put in a workers comp claim. They just put me on light duty. The problem was I went from 60 hours a week with overtime to less than 40. I couldn’t keep working at those reduced hours and wages. It took them a year to even get me seen. Now they deny any care my doctor requests
