From what I gathered from the rest of the clip, they've both had contact with the CBI prior to the barging in, so when they saw them, they immediately knew they were dealing with law enforcement.

First 5 seasons, Lisbon has no facial expression [lips don't move when talking], arms fling like rope, has meaningless lines, doesn't have the personality for a Boss. Some improvement in seasons 6 and 7. Jane is super.
You must have been mulling over that for a long time. The episode was shown nearly eleven years ago, the clip was posted nearly ten years ago, and the last ever episode aired nearly five years ago. All that time to think and still you get it almost wholly wrong.
