And all these expectations become burdensome. And if you don't conform, you get ostracised by society. The way to go about this is not to care about what others think. Expression doesn’t always relate to the emotion. I used to get the reactions Anna got but for being “serious looking” or “angry like”. My dad would take me to work when I was 10-14 and he was food distributor so we would go to all stores, Walmart, target etc anyways every single time there would be that one employee or several that would take the time out of their work to tell me that I should smile more. Meaning while in my head I’m thinking about funny shi that makes me happy, but these minimum wage mfs out here think they know me and want to me to express to them an emotion that is according to them “normal for all people your age”… I still remember this one fat chick from Walmart, she would harass me several times a day to tell me how to smile or be happy. Instead of going back to work, god damn lazy animal, I’d be a walking excuse for them not to do their work. I hated that.
