    This is what David Cassidy really wanted to sing and perform like. He tried so hard to be accepted as a serious musician, rather than just a Teen Idol. Sad.

    • @deborabump1618
      @deborabump1618 4 роки тому

      yes, the "rolling stone" cover thing was a loud scream for acknowledgement as such. and you are correct; this tour, this comeback....found him thriving, completely, as a musician and artist. he was completely STOKED at the idea of a comeback....unfortunately, the record company folded quickly after release, i believe. i will never, EVER believe that he enjoyed playing partridge family tunes. listening to partridge family music, almost, to me anyhow, feels like a betrayal of him as a true artist, lol

      I didn’t like him because of the Partridge Family. I would have liked him if he had played music like this. I hated that sappy Partridge family music.

    I grew up in the 60s and 70s and I try to explain to my now grown up children just how enormously popular David Cassidy was. He was literally on every magazine cover every poster, cup, tee shirt and binder. In the early 70s every girl had his likeness on the wall at home or in a walker he was Justin Bieber on steroids, and this was before there was any such thing as social media or UA-cam !

      David never did a better performance than this.
      This is just a little hint at what could have been.
      This record I believe would have made the Top Ten in any countries charts but the record company he recorded this with went bust so they couldn't press anymore copies to give it that push it needed to be the Top Ten(or even Number One)smash hit it well and truly deserved to be.
      A Rock and Roll CLASSIC by a Great,Superb and extremely talented man.

    this is the platform that David deserved - they let him shine - great song, musicians, and professional production. His voice - a gift from God and, himself - a force of Nature. The band is havin' fun! and, the be-dangled, singin', dancin', bass player ("Cookie"?) nearly steals the show. I've watched this 100x and will prob'ly watch 100x more. This is the kind of music that echoes above the earth.

He had the talent. He just lacked efficient managers. Just a bunch of greedy jackals spending all his hard earned money.

Every time I hear a song, see a TV show or video of him, I cry!!! The tears just flow, even though I try not to cry. What's wrong with me? I'll miss you for as long as I live David. RIP. ((hugs))

      Its the same for me, and I even wasnt a hardcore fan, being too young in the seventies and living in a different part of the world where he was not that hyped, but I did like him back then, and after his passing, I have watched uncountable clips , to update myself, only to find myself crying over the fact he is gone, how much good stuff he did, all those great songs, and that I wish I could turn back time..whats wrong with me?...

    • @j.denino5732
      @j.denino5732 6 років тому

      Where do you live, in Sweden? Your name sounds Swedish. You'll get over it...eventually. We all have to say goodbye to our childhood idols eventually. I remember how sad I was after MJ died nearly 9 years ago.

    • @alicew3563
      @alicew3563 6 років тому

      j.denino57 Yeah, I'm swedish. I guess you are right, but I am still here watching clips....MJ' s death was also very tragic, personally I wasn't that affected by it although, even if I dug his music, same with Prince, so I guess it has to do with childhood memories somewhat. Strange it is.

    • @j.denino5732
      @j.denino5732 6 років тому

      Sometimes when there is something in your life, a loss of some kind that you haven't worked through mourning and grief this can happen. Then a celebrity that you liked dies and it will bring out the mourning that may not have been completed at the earlier time....maybe you are depressed about something? Have you lost someone close to you in recent years? Maybe you should go and do some talk therapy with a therapist to work through the feelings....
      I have previously gone through these feelings, incomplete mourning. Then MJ died and I was watching all of his clips and it made me cry over the loss of a family member that I hadn't finished grieving fully.
      Or maybe there is something else going on in your emotional life. I'm not a professional therapist. I do not know.
      I do enjoy watching David Cassidy's singing and acting. It's too bad he didn't get the life he really wanted. At least he's at peace now I hope. (I did shed tears after he passed away myself). I was only 10 when I first saw his show on television. I was also 10 when MJ became famous in 1970. We have been losing a lot of people in the entertainment industry over the past 10 years. Reminds us of our own mortality I guess.

    • @alicew3563
      @alicew3563 6 років тому +3

      j.denino57 Very wise words, thanks for the concern. I did not have a loss or such thing recently, but I get your point and think you are right saying these things can trigger emotions you've kept hidden. Yes, there' s been far too many good musicians leaving us lately..When Bowie died I had a very strong reaction aswell, was so very sad. Really liked his music, met him once briefly and he was such a down to earth and nice man (it's nice when someone you "idolize" live up to it IRL) so that one I can understand more than the David Cassidy thing, but as I've understud it, a lot of women (and men) have the same feelings I do concerning his death, both longterm fans and people like me with childhood memories, so I guess its a strong emotional factor-childhood memories, both happy and sad ones. I dont know, its something with his struggle also, that moves me.
