finally, a bolillo recipe from an actual mexican lol took me way too long to find this video
There is nothing like a warm just-out-the-oven bolillo!
I have made this recipe a million times! It’s a must. I use it for molletes, tortas, or just by themselves they are amazing !
Great to hear!
This deserves WAYYYYY more likes. Like others have mentioned the porous crumb on other tutorials are too dry and springy; the crumb on your bolillos is perfect and you can see the gluten threads 🔥🔥🔥
I used to get bolillo rolls all the time back in Tucson! I miss them a great deal and only just thought to look up a recipe. This looks like somethin' I can do where I am right now and it makes me super excited! Thank you for posting this!
I will definitely be making this! Because my local grocery store is charging .80 cents per bolillo, I decided I have to make my own! Your instructions are very clear to understand & simple to follow.
@@melodienapieracz3404 80 cents! My local store charges 1.50 per bolillo!
Dipped in some homemade menudo.🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 gonna try and make these this weekend!! Gracias segunda mama! You teach me so many delicious recipes!!!
You are so welcome!
How come when I buy bolillos in the USA, they are soft and fluffy. Mexican bolillos are hard and crispy on the outside and have a thick dough inside.
Depends where you buy them. Not every Mexican panadería in the US makes them the same way. There are some Mexican panaderías that know how to make them better than others. It’s just a matter of finding that spot where they make them to your liking.
Kneed
Make into 3 inch balls
Roll and shape into Bolio shape
Place on cookie sheet (put a little oil)
Place kitchen towel and let rest for 30 minutes
425 degrees
Make slit on the top
Spray them with warm water
Place baking dish with water under them
Bake for 20-25 minutes
I’m definitely making these tomorrow! Thank you for this wonderfully explained recipe!
I tried this receipt but they didn’t get fluffy and bigs like yours 🥺 what did I do wrong ?
The only thing I can think of is the yeast. When doing the first step, did it activate?
You use warm water or warm milk put in yeast
Fantastic !!! Honestly not too difficult to make . Followed to a T and they came out great . The only tip , if you make smaller bolillos they will cook faster so watch em !
Thanks for the tip!
I’m making your queso fresco when this showed up ❤️💜💜
Perfect timing. :)
Very nice video! Big 👍like from me! I also like homemade bread and shoot some videos to. Keep on!!!
I am currently waiting for the milk I’m a little nervous because I used baking powered instead of yeast
My wife is from El Paso so it’s hard to find a place with good bolillos. Funny thing is that I’m from Corpus Christi and Austin and I never knew eating menudo with bolillos was a thing , we always used corn tortillas.
Wow menudo without bolillos is like a day without sunshine! Especially HOT ( picante )Menudo!
Go to Supreme Bakery in the North East best pan dulce and bonillos
@@devilsgoddess in El Paso ? That’s the only one I found in Texas .
@@rogersepedayes its on McCombs
Im currently in the middle of making this! I finished the dough and now its rolled up and resting!
Wow! It is a delicious recipe! Thank you, friend. I will try it!
I have a lot of easy recipes too)!
Did you also make a video where you stuffed them with cream cheese and jalapeño? I can’t find it!!
I freshly milled wheat for this and it works the same, I added just a bit more milk. Thanks for the recipe.😊
Great tip!
Traditional recipe does not have butter
Then don’t use her recipe. Use a traditional recipe
After waiting for the yeast to activate it wasn’t that watery like yours and when i added it with the butter the dough just came out flakey and not wet or sticky at all, what could i have done wrong?
Can you use this recipe when making cream cheese and jalapeño ones?
Orale .. Even I Can Make These ! Thank You So Much .. I Used To Be An Avid Baker Self Taught .. But Unfortunately I Have Memory Issues & These Videos Have Given Me My Self Esteem .. I Still Shake & Worry But Being Able To Compare By Actually 👀 It Is Awesome .. Bless You ✌❤🙏 ..
Delicious. Use lard, it makes for the best texture and flavor, and its healthier than you have been lead to believe.
My grandma in Mexico cooked everything in lard. She was healthy. I eat "healthy" in today's standards and I'm not nearly in good shape as her. Something tells me today's healthy is not really as healthy as back in the day. Probably preservatives and plastic packaging and I drive everywhere whereas she walked everywhere lol
Made these today, had to fix the dough by adding more yeast because after 2 hours it still wouldn’t rise. But other then that fairly easy to make and tasting good
That means your yeast is weak or dying/expired you should get new yeast
How warm is the “warm milk”? Does the heat need to be exact?
Has anyone tried these w bread flour ? I have extra so looking for a use ...
Man I bought vegetable shortening for nothign then thinking I needed it for the recipe I’m gonna try this
Another recipe that doesn’t work for me
Thanks for the extra tip with the steam! Much appreciated 😊
is there a printable recipe?
I made them but mine came out small should I have tried making them bigger for bigger ones ? 🥺😟
Yes, you can make them as small or as big as you like. I like to make them in various sizes for the kids.
Now.... I'm actually not a fan of my bolillo with a hard crust where i used to get my bolillo at food city they made my favorite bolillos that were sooo soft i loved it till they like change the recipe a little bit. Pero they kinda made it the same way again but now with COVID the beast and now we are scared to get them because in my neck of the woods people just grab it. But if i just bake em in the oven with out the water would it be less crunchy possibly?
En español??😰😥😰😥
..and all the angels sing... fresh bolillos. I think I just found my new favorite channel.😊🥰😍🤩
What is champurrado? Google wouldn't translate it.
Champuraddo is similar to hot chocolate except it's thick and creamy. Prepared with h Mexican chocolate, corn flour , milk, water, and a few spices.
It looks very good, I will definitely try to bake this recipe thank you for sharing this recipe ❤
Excellent tutorial! Will definitely be trying out your recipe.
I love bollilos! Thank you!
I cant wait to try this
Could i use self rising flour. Instead of active yeast and flour?..
Awesome! 👍🏼
These are great esp when buying 5 for a dollar from the mexican bakery. Ima try your recipe for sure
Can almond milk be substituted for cows milk?
Can olive oil be used instead of butter?
Yes,
Really appreciate your video, informative kind and to the point. Excellent!!
Can you do same but whithout the pan of the water at the bottom of the oven?
Geacias! La reseta y instrucsiones estan al 💯.
What should i do if my dough is still sticky
How long can you let the dough ferment? Is it ok if I let the dough ferment for 3 to 7 days?
Only if you are making sourdough
Could this recipe also be used for a whole loaf?
Are you saying 1 1/4 cup or milk OR one 1/4 cup of milk?
It’s listed under the description
My mom made menudo and I made these. Your recipe is the best.
Need receipe
Can you use bread flour?
So my oven is a little messed up and it doesn’t get and higher than 350 degrees F, will this be okay? And does the bake time have to be increased?
You should be fine, the baking time will be a bit longer just keep a close eye on them and remove them once they have a golden color
@@SaltyCocina thank you so much, I’m trying to make these for my dad since he’s from Mexico and kinda want the approval
Can instant yeast be used?
I tried several recipes but yours is the best they're delicious
Thanks so much 😊
Lot of work
Thank you so much for your recipe, my husband watched it and made us some bolillos today! They taste better than the bakeries here. Lol ❤
It took me around 40 minutes to knead by hand 🥲 my everything hurts
I love my mixer. I can't do by hand anymore.
