In kenya we call it Chapati.......❤❤❤❤ When i visited Zambia,my friends there were surprised when i made it.They loved it and we ended up making a big Chapati feast and invited the neighbours..........memories❤❤❤❤❤
When I was a missionary in Germany, we lived in a part of Cologne where there were many Turkish people. Every morning, the women gathered around a propane fueled flat iron and cooked this amazing bread. Despite our language differences, they would motion us over and gift us a hot round right off the iron! As we went about our day, we'd pick up a chocolate bar or a couple of bottles of lemon water or flowers and drop them by in return! Some of my best memories! Thanks for the recipe!
It is a Turkish tradition to offer food to neighbors although it is a dying tradition among the young generation. Neighbors are important to Turkish families so they probably wanted to build a relationship with you. I'm sure they never expected you to return something in favor but you did it anyway. It is very nice of you.
We sure appreciated their kindness! I'm from Texas and we recognize and reciprocate kindness and good manners. We bought our groceries from the Turkish shops and markets because the prices were better and the selection was always good. Occasionally we'd see some of our neighbors shopping together and we'd smile and wave discretely. It seems that a lot of the really good traditions are being left behind in today's world, and it's a shame. A few of us old "die hards" have taught our children to be polite, helpful, and attentive. That is, if you see someone who needs help or something that needs to be done, just do it, don't leave the garbage on the ground beside the can ect. Thanks for replying and giving me a better insight to some sweet ladies I once met! All the best and God bless! 🥰 @@tasadem20
@@jenottens3680 I totally agree with you. I live in Los Angeles but we lived in Utah about 2 years ago for awhile and we were very shocked about how our neighbors were so much nicer over there. We lived in the same place for 8 years in LA and only knew a few people in our apartment but we met twice as much people in Utah in 6 months. Unfortunately people are very individualist in larger cities and I can understand that as living in a large city is way more stressful than living in less populated cities, and most people just go home to getaway from everything. They turn their head when they see you. I wish all neighbors say at least hello to each other. It is a small gesture but surely makes everyone day. God bless to you as well! ☺

Yes this is what I was thinking too. However in the southwest US, lard is cut into it making it more similar to pie dough. Corn tortillas are made with out oil but that’s a whole diffferent cat. Thank you for sharing!!!
Yeah, you can sometimes also find thicker flour tortillas. For me definitely thick is better. I've seen them made with butter and lard, but never with an oil+butter mixture. Appreciation from India.. Lots of similarities between this recipe and Indian breads...we call them paranthas ...dry and plain ones are called rotis and layered / stuffed ones made with oil/ clarified butter are famous as paranthas..and deep fried ones are called ' puris'...the only difference is we use whole wheat flour instead of all purpose flour..except for ' Kerala ' layered bread which is almost like your recipe...and ofcourse north India's ' Bathure',a deep fried bread is made of all purpose flour which is savored with a chick pea curry...thank you for showing breads made in Turkey...
I'm from New Zealand and my mother, who was French used to make this and we called it "round bread" when we were kids - probably had another name, and I also make this - but my neighbour, who is Chinese makes the same thing too (I don't know how to spell the name as it's Mandarin) and sometimes puts sliced green onions in it, as she's rolling it. Always tastes good.
In China, there is a street food called Shouzhuaobai, which is exactly the same as the one in the video. We usually eat it wrapped in vegetables or meat. But this hand cake should not eat too much, eat more hurt stomach.😂
That's fantastic to hear! Chapati is a beloved staple in many cultures, and it's great to see the similarities and shared love for such simple yet delicious bread. 🌍🍞
This looks very similar to the Roti Prata that we have in Singapore. (Malaysia call it Roti Canai). It's a popular Indian flatbread in South East Asia that is usually served with curry. Sometimes we have other stuffings such as eggs, onions, cheese, mushroom or even banana. The best part is that you can eat it for breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper. You should try it when you are in the Malaysia/Singapore/Indonesia/Brunei area.
I made your Turkish yeast bread that’s similar to naan two days ago. It was so easy and it turned out so good. I had it with some mezze the first night (I made some delicious Lebanese chicken salad, roasted veggies, hummus, Basmati rice with vermicelli and toasted almonds) and then last night I served it with sone Afghan lamb and turnip stew. It was so good. Now I’ve got to make this bread!
Thank you so much for trying out the recipe and sharing your experience! It makes me really happy to hear that you enjoyed the Turkish yeast bread and had such fantastic meals. Keep up the great cooking and let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to make!

That is actually not Chapati. It is called Paratha. Chapati is dry .Half cooked on hot plate then placed in oven to bulge. No butter or ghee. {ghee is clarified butter} Then we have Roti. Roti is chapati completed on hot plate then spread with ghee.

This is called Paratha a South Indian bread which most youngsters love eating it😂.This recipe is taken over from a Turkey Cousine that’s why May be they named it Turkey bread 😀 But altogether is very tasty.
Its a common bread of centralasian turkic tribes, i am pretty sure, that the indian recipe was invented solo or the Timurids (later Mughals) brougth the bread-type from centralasia to India.
In Comoros we make the same thing called Couscouma or Chapati. I guess the same as indian paratha, where a lot of our dishes are inspired from. Instead of butter we use ghee
It's fascinating to see how this delicious bread has different names and variations around the world! 🌍🍞 Thank you for sharing the names from Yaman, Morocco, and Indonesia!
Mabuhay! I'm thrilled you enjoy the Turkish bread recipe. Give it a try at home, it's as simple as our video shows - you'll love it just as much as the bread from Pavia! 🍞😊

Yes this is pretty much the same as Kerala Paratha in India. They use a more spectacular technique for stretching the dough, you roll i only partly, and then toss i on the table, it stretches like a pizza, it is very fast and the dough becomes very thin, translucent almost. Instead of rolling after adding the oil or ghee you crinkle it like a harmonica, and and make a snail, just like you do. When cooked, you push the sides together revealing all the separate layers, served immediately. So a comment on additives in industrial bread. It is all about the price people are willing to pay. Regarding keeping white bread in the fridge, that actually makes the bread go stale faster, better to keep it in the freezer or at room temperature. My local baker in Panaji, Goa, would bake fresh bread 2-3 times a day. The locals would not eat the morning batch at dinner time, it was no longer fresh. They where poor, but the quality of their produce, Live fish and shellfish, same day vegetables and fruit, live chickens butchered and skinned to order. No super markets back then, no freezers or fridges, except for beer.
Yes, it has a neutral taste, and you can eat it in the morning instead of pancakes with jam, for example, and in the afternoon with soup or make something like a taco with any filling! 🤩

I hope your subscribers are making some of these breads. I made the scallion pancakes today and they were delicious!! What I loved about them was they were so easy to make! If you buy these in the store or bakery, they really can be costly but making them they go for pennies each. 💗
What irritates me most of all is the shelf life of store food, when I cook from natural products, it is stored in my refrigerator for 2-3 days, while bread from the store can lie for a week and not go bad. I don't know what the ba*tards are putting in there, but this slop is only good for bird food! 🥸
@@FastEasyRecipes You are so right!! A lot of people don't realize all the hormones and anabolic steroids they give to animals are also used in certain medications. Yes!! Pharmaceutical companies too!! Its not a good thing that food lasts longer today. The reason is because of all the additives, preservatives and chemicals they are putting in just about everything. Also, I just learned that just because food has a sticker on it claiming its 100% natural and organic, think again because labeling is extremely misleading.
We call it Malwi or rghayef in Morocco 🇲🇦. We serve it with Jam or honey and usual with moroccan menth Tee this is the sweet variation or we add a special chicken sauce with onions for the salt variation. ✌ great to see the similarities between countries. The best Turkish bread ever! Thankyou. Dennii , South Africa
So glad you enjoyed it, Dennii! 🌍🍞 Greetings from Turkey!
Oh wow, this is exactly like Roti!! 😋
很有趣!看来各地的手抓美食都有相似之处。记得适量享用哦,保持健康!😊🥖🌱

We Ugandans make this all the time. We call it “Chapati”
That's fantastic to hear! Chapati is a beloved staple in many cultures, and it's great to see the similarities and shared love for such simple yet delicious bread. 🌍🍞
But it's called lacchha paratha😊 nope chapati
Do you use all purpose flour as well?

Salamat sa panonood! Sana magustuhan mo ang Turkish bread recipe na ito! 🍞🇹🇷

Terima kasih sudah menonton! Semoga berhasil dan selamat mencoba resep roti Turki ini di rumah! 😊🍞
Looks like a tortilla except the part where you roll into a tube. What a great idea to give it texture and almost pastry’s flaky texture. Yummy!
Much better use of the sword!!!! My grandmother used to make these - it's one of the traditional breads in the Rhodope mountains of Bulgaria!
That's so interesting to hear about the Rhodope mountains tradition! It's amazing how bread connects cultures. 🍞😊
I was stationed at Incirlik AB and loved the bread with whipped butter back in 1987. Fell in love with Turkish cuisine.

I love Turkish bread 😍😋.
We call it "chapati" here in Kenya... it's an absolute delight! Especially with beef stew
That is actually not Chapati. It is called Paratha. Chapati is dry .Half cooked on hot plate then placed in oven to bulge. No butter or ghee. {ghee is clarified butter}
Then we have Roti. Roti is chapati completed on hot plate then spread with ghee.
It is called Bazlama in Turkey. My grandmother often used to bake a couple piles of it and stock in the fridge ‘till consumed.
@@prophet1782 oh wow, then i guess we have the similar name for two different dishes, because we don't cook chapati as you do, but i completely appreciate your way. I'll look it up, and maybe try it!
Bir arkadaş bazlama demiş ama bu Katmer. Bazlama ile çok az fark var aralarında. Bu arada Türk mutfağından yatşflwr veriyorsunuz ama Türkçe çeviriniz neden yok?

This is called Paratha a South Indian bread which most youngsters love eating it😂.This recipe is taken over from a Turkey Cousine that’s why May be they named it Turkey bread 😀
But altogether is very tasty.
Its a common bread of centralasian turkic tribes, i am pretty sure, that the indian recipe was invented solo or the Timurids (later Mughals) brougth the bread-type from centralasia to India.
In Indonesia we Called it, Roti Cane/Canai.
In Comoros we make the same thing called Couscouma or Chapati. I guess the same as indian paratha, where a lot of our dishes are inspired from. Instead of butter we use ghee
That's amazing! 🌍 It's incredible how food connects us. Ghee must add a wonderful flavor! 🙌

I'm in NZ. Thank you for this, have been looking for yeast-free recipe!!!!
