- Happy Groundhog Day all! It's the magical time of year when a homeowner's backyard nightmare reluctantly, but alertly predicts the weather. As the snow piles up here in New York City, I can think of no more fitting tribute to this particularly bizarre ceremony than recreating the centerpiece of Phil Connors' immortal diner feast: angel food cake, eaten in one hedonistic bite. After a year that's felt an awful lot like Groundhog Day personified, let's ring in a new...groundhog year together with this classic teatime cake!

My husband loves Angel Food cake and I make one every year for his birthday in March. I've made my cake recipe so many times for events and parties, I don't even need to look the recipe up anymore. I will say my proud moment is when my mother in law gave me her mom's angel food cake pan. It was a passing of a torch so to speak :)

My mom has an empty bottle of Bailey’s specifically to let angel food cakes cool on, the wide bottom of the bottle is enough support for it and the stem of the bottle fits perfectly in the center hole of the pan

Literally subscribed after seeing this video. I have watched this movie dozens of times and I always thought that breakfast looked appetizing with that particular cake treat being the most enticing. I can't believe I will finally be able to enjoy this!
Fun fact: This was filmed in Woodstock, Illinois. I lived about 20 minutes from the square where they shot a majority of the film, and there are plaques of Ned's Corner and where Bill Murray steps off the street. They shot a Superbowl commercial there last year.
I live 4 mins from there! The square is super themed now. LOVE it.

@@TenorPhantom bleaching the flour breaks it down, destroys the gluten, and of course makes it white. With unbleached flour, you can't get that kind of fluffy, tender dough, it will feel kind of oddly spongy and wrong.

I made this cake but I frosted it with a coffee and dark chocolate ganache. The contrast between the sweet white crumb and the black slightly bitter ganache is perfect.
