High wind fires are very difficult to control/extinguish. You open a window /roof for ventilation and fire increases.

1.Never drive past a hydrant y the fire with out laying a line.
    2. See at least 3 sides of the building before starting your attack.
    3. If your going to block traffic chief, before the fire, not after
    4. Move with some sense of urgency for god’s sake there home is on fire.

      Your responses are totally wrong!
      1. WRONG. Typically you don’t drive past your water supply. However if the apparatus has only 2 personnel, you do not need a first in apparatus to arrive with just one person. Many departments practice a blitz attack. First apparatus uses the deck gun, with apparatus water, for a quick knock down, while the second apparatus establishes the water supply. And there other scenarios also that work better than doing a forward lay.
      3. Since of urgency? This is a VACANT structure with NO exposures! You NEVER risk injury to your personnel for senseless reasons!
If there is a lot to gain you can risk more. If there is nothing to gain you risk NOTHING.
You are obviously not a very smart firefighter, that is if you are one. Firefighting and fire ground operations are not something that can be standardized to a “one policy fit all”. Fire ground operations require being able to make decisions that are the safest and best for the situation.
So I suggest you ask your mommy for your Fire Safety coloring book and go back to staying inside the lines.
Comments like yours make me sick! Your way of thinking is what gets firefighter hurt/killed.
Shut up until you grow up.

Just asking… based on your reply are you a member of the department in question? I’m sorry but that road should have been blocked from the get go. Careless drivers driving by and not looking at the road but instead gawking at the fire with limited visibility because of the smoke. The members pulling lines in the road and next before you know it one of the idiot drivers hits them. Even a vehicle blocking the road initially is better than nothing. Even flares could have been used temporarily.

If your goal was to prove you aren't an experienced firefighter...
      Well done... you succeeded!
