I'm getting one of these to replace a MountainSmith combination shoulder/fanny pack I've had for years. Never used it as a fanny pack. I'm tired of it now. The Fatboy will handle all the gear I want to carry. Thanks for the review
Great review, i had and carried this bag for years, still loks new, i recently replaced it with a vaquest tolcat bag, about the same size but i think it makes far better use of space, i can actually securely put three inch water bottles in the side bags...
Soon as I got an iPad... I started taking with me everywhere...sadly my iPad Pro would not fit ...and this bag was retired after 2 years service. Not a stitch out of place..now I use a noatak ...still miss my fat boy so much thinking about getting the thermite to couple with my noatak
Thanks again for the great review Sootch. My Wife and I finally took the plunge today and purchased the Fatboy in Navy and Royal Blue Foliage. We thought that would be more low key in an urban setting at least colorwise. Concealed carry is a hassle in the Columbia area in the Summer since it is the hottest place on earth!
Maxpedition products are lifetime products. Don't let the price scare ya, that's how long it's gonna last. So you're paying for your gear ONCE. That actually makes the price sound a lot cheaper doesn't it?
Awesome review, Sootch. Thinking about picking up the Lunada gearslinger. It seems about the right size to old my netbook and a couple other EDC essentials...great to carry to and from work, play, etc. Thanks again for the great gear reviews. Take care! Love the clips at the end of your vids. Haha...bug spray. You aren't kidding!
Very nice review. Nice size day bag. I have one of their gearslingers but have found it gives me alittle back muscle pain. I guess I need to stick with a double shoulder bag . Thanks for the great vid.
I have a Maxpedition Colossus versipack, well the male end of the buckle snapped off so I called and spoke to Moses, was told sorry we wont cover that. So after being a customer for years and buying tons of their crap, when I have a defective part they wont fix it! lost a good customer over a $12.00 strap! I will never purchase another maxpedition product, and I will tell everyone I know to do the same. and before you ask it says nothing about the hardware not being covered in the warranty.
Nice Review ..... that seems right about my speed ..... Because I work 2 jobs right in a row, I carry a lot of stuff with me ..... this should keep it a little better organized .... thanx
I wonder, do they make a slightly smaller version of it. That seems kind of huge.. I keep a lot of stuff on my person but heck, that size could double as a small BOB :) A slightly smaller one might be cool.. for wallet keys, whatever else, spare mags and such.
Sootch I have bought so many Maxped items over the last few months with your coupon code. I really appreciate it! I hope maxpedition is giving you royalties. Tell them you'll review bags for them and they should send them to you for free- you have a big audience. A lot of other youtubers do the same with Maxpedition items. Look at the new Maxpedition Noatak.
Love the vid. I bought the jumbo Versipack because of your previous vid on it. The Jumbo fits my camera and mini survival gear perfectly. But I like this as a smaller option.
Unfortunately for me, Maxpedition means out of my price range. However, I appreciate the fact that you let us know Maxpedition provided this for you, being honest with that really helps me trust what you are saying in this and other videos. Two other things: 1) How are those sandals out in the wild? 2) Your keychain looks like my girlfriends. :) Thanks!
its a good back but one thing i didnt like both on this version and the larger one is the straps for the top flap that are too short but i found a small fix on the the fatboy version. just pass the plastic buckel in the loop . dosent work for the larger one tho i like the added handle (mines dont have one) its perfect for a T91 netbook btw.
@Iridium242 Dude, I find the size perfect...and also I don't use all the space. But it's handy because I can put extra stuff in there depending on what I've got going on...camera, sunscreen, binoculars, lots of ammo if I'm headed to the range, snacks if I'm going on a hike, etc.... I don't carry all that stuff every day, but the little extra space makes the bag much more versatile, while compromising very little in the way of comfort or ease of use.
Thanks for a great review! I just ordered one of these in kahki. I was looking at a couple similar bags for less, until I saw the quality difference in your video. I plan to use this for concealed carry, and also for extra EDC items I would like to have (minor first aid kit, multi tool, camera, calendar, pens, etc.) . I'll be sure to let Maxpedition know your review was very helpful in my purchase decision. Take care.
I watched this vid a few times, eyeballed the fatboy versipack for a while.... Bought one and really like it. Never thought I could get excited about a man purse, but it rocks!
Respond to this video... If your out doors hiking, hunting,or just walking through the woods, it's a satchel to carry essential stuff in, no different from a backpack. However, I wouldn't be caught dead walking down town with it. :-)
Just got $14.50 DISCOUNT on my Fatboy Jumbo Versipac and extension pocket order, Purchased solely based on you video here. thanks !! the discount code is sootch, not the sootch00 as you stated in the video.
it's not that expensive considering also. condor has a similar one around $40 and this one I've seen around $50. maxpedition is generally better quality though condor is also good as well.
What do you do for carrying water with this bag? I've been wavering between this one and the jumbo because of the water bottle pouch on the jumbo, but I like the size of this one. I could add a molle pouch on the pouch you use for your binocs, but seems to me that would make it the same size as the jumbo, and I might as well get it. Decisions decisions. Great stuff Sootch.
Good vid. Being an auto mechanic,I hope you don't hang that huge key assortment from your ignition of your ML because its swaying movement as yo drive will wear out the tumblers in the ignition. Just fyi. :)
Sootch00, great review, as always! Okay, now I want the Monsoon AND the Fatboy Versipack! BTW, it did not go unnoticed that you gave the community of your viewers a gift of sharing some family history, a gift that required some increased vulnerability to haters. I respect your courage and your gift!
This is a great Versipack from Maxpedition for carrying like a sling bag, but does anyone know some good Versipack with handle for carrying in a backpack?
I'm so glad you reviewed this pack! I've been looking at it and really wanted to see a good review first (preferably by either you or Nutn). Well done, Sir!
i guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Javier Marcellus thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Takes quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Is there an upside to these vs a day pack? Just like fanny packs ID'd many as carrying concealed or as cops, these in my eye ID the carrier as a prepper. I prefer the gray man look.
@4thRico I don't think you can get a full size DSLR in the Fatboy. I carry my D-200 with an 18-200 lens in my Jumbo, as EDC. I suggest you go with the Jumbo. Look at Sootch's vid on it & you'll see my set up. John
@sootch00 Hilarious! the look on your face man.....PRICELESS! lol btw echo everything you said in your review! I found my Ruger P-85 a bit of a snug carry, so I traded it for an SR-9. Turning in my paperwork for CCW this week too.
I have watched two of your videos, this one and the Jumbo Versipack. If am looking for a pack to carry a few EDC items, iPad mini and Glock 43. Which is really your preferred bag?
Can someone tell me why you do not see the "multi-tool/cellphone" pouch under the shoulder strap buckle on the "S-type" that you see on the "right hand model"? Every ad or photo I have watched has it on the R but not the L style.
everything is his favourite piece of gear
Gear is the geariest gear of the gearmost gearhead who buys gear to use as gear with other gear
everything is amazing.
Gear is good!😉
Lol
Just bought one. This is awesome. Perfect size and can carry alot of stuff. Sweet bag
Do you carry the keys of the entire neighborhood?
By far the best review of a bag. I just got one from LAPG for $40 on clearance. Thank I have a colt night defender great carry gun. Thank you
Not forgetting "God Bless the UK" where I own this bag. It's *the best* I've ever had! Great review.
I'm getting one of these to replace a MountainSmith combination shoulder/fanny pack I've had for years. Never used it as a fanny pack. I'm tired of it now. The Fatboy will handle all the gear I want to carry. Thanks for the review
i have a black one and i love it. the bag fells like it will last forever
Just ordered the jumbo. I have other maxpedition products for years and love them.
Great review, i had and carried this bag for years, still loks new, i recently replaced it with a vaquest tolcat bag, about the same size but i think it makes far better use of space, i can actually securely put three inch water bottles in the side bags...
you're the man sootch! been watching you for years on my old account! Big fan!
holy crap. that's about 50lbs of keys.
Very nice bag, I have had mine for about six years.
I've got one of those too, and I must agree with with sootch00: This is a very good slingbag. Had it for about a year now, and I love it.
Reaction to bugs won me over.
Same here lol! :D
excellent review! you showed us how you wear and hat it looks like from all angles while wearing it and the pocket utilization. thx
Great review definitely getting one, awesome the way it holds your 45
Great review! A good idea in Fatboy is to make a loop of paracord on the zipper. It will be easier to open and close it. It will also look even cooler
Soon as I got an iPad... I started taking with me everywhere...sadly my iPad Pro would not fit ...and this bag was retired after 2 years service. Not a stitch out of place..now I use a noatak ...still miss my fat boy so much thinking about getting the thermite to couple with my noatak

I've been wanting one of these for a while now.
-- Top notch review sir! -- It is refreshing to see something demo'd that is actually being used!
Nice review, but how long will it keep your beers cold for?
Maxpedition products are lifetime products. Don't let the price scare ya, that's how long it's gonna last. So you're paying for your gear ONCE. That actually makes the price sound a lot cheaper doesn't it?
Great review. Detailed and useful.. I have the old Fatboy without the grab handle...still great.
I bought this bag due to your review. Thanks a lot for all the effort you put into your vids.
Great review. I bought one today for $25 at Flea market here in Ga. I jumped on it fast.
That's a steal. Good job
That is a great pack, just the right size.
Stephen
Greaatt, something else that I want to buy now. Thanks Sootch! This is just the thing I need to keep all my daily gear in ( and then some).
Awesome review, Sootch. Thinking about picking up the Lunada gearslinger. It seems about the right size to old my netbook and a couple other EDC essentials...great to carry to and from work, play, etc. Thanks again for the great gear reviews. Take care!

Maxpedition products as pure quality. Tough as nails. My Falcon II looks brand new after two years of abuse.
Sootch is blingin.

in about a month, my new motto is going to be "Indiana Jones carries a satchel."

Maxpedition has WAY to much cool stuff. You are killing me Sootch...well my bank account anyhow.
Great review! Very helpful! I wonder what your opinion is 5 years after making the video. Thank you!
Another great review, Thanks SOOTCH!
Great vid sootch need a vid on the new maxpedition falcon 3
Good for rain?hot climate?I drive motorcycle a lot
I might have to buy one of these man-purses now that you compared it to Indiana Jones' satchel! :D
Good vid. Being an auto mechanic,I hope you don't hang that huge key assortment from your ignition of your ML because its swaying movement as yo drive will wear out the tumblers in the ignition. Just fyi. :)

Maxpedition versipack, masculine satchel at its finest
Godbless you too sir...thanks for the review..more power to your video..
This is a great Versipack from Maxpedition for carrying like a sling bag, but does anyone know some good Versipack with handle for carrying in a backpack?
Nice Watch Dude !
Why do you prefer this system over a light-weight backpack?
I'm so glad you reviewed this pack! I've been looking at it and really wanted to see a good review first (preferably by either you or Nutn). Well done, Sir!
i guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an Instagram account??

@Sonny Ronin Instablaster ;)
@Javier Marcellus thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff atm.

@Javier Marcellus it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much, you saved my account !
@Sonny Ronin No problem xD
thanks for the discount God Bless
great video thanks
That is one man purse I would so use lol....... And I also think my CRKT M-16 desert tan blade would look sick as heck clipped to that versipack :-P
lol Man Purse. I lovve Maxpedition.
Is there an upside to these vs a day pack? Just like fanny packs ID'd many as carrying concealed or as cops, these in my eye ID the carrier as a prepper. I prefer the gray man look.
you can also carry this on the hip.
Great review and nice pack. Personally I just cannot get over the man purse thing.
@4thRico I don't think you can get a full size DSLR in the Fatboy. I carry my D-200 with an 18-200 lens in my Jumbo, as EDC. I suggest you go with the Jumbo. Look at Sootch's vid on it & you'll see my set up. John
great bag but you have a TON of stuff on that key ring. do you honestly need all of those items?
Amen!!!!!
I get made fun of my bag everyday at work. Doesn't deter me from carrying it!
Great vid sir, I am a maxpedition fan too, amazing bag! Great job , quality of video is just great, nice site for review. Thanks Mr Sootch!
could this bag be worn like an oversized thermite bag on the waist?
What is their smallest bag? I dont want a huge one, might as well get a small backpack.
Good review Sootch ..... I love my maxpedition
Speaking of Everyday carry, can this thing fit a netbook (10 inch screen)? Thanks...
that is very good quality i want one you got my sub
Will this fit a DSLR camera+lens in the main compartment? Im thinking of either this or the Jumbo as a camera bag
Is this smaller than the Maxpedition Remora?
Liked, saved, subscribed. Excellent review.
How about doing some videos in 720p 0r 1080p ???
Great rewiev!
I have question, Can it hold SLR camera (like nikon d300) inside?
Its look very small...
What do you think about the Neatfreak compared to the fatboy for every day Cary ?
@sootch00 Hilarious! the look on your face man.....PRICELESS! lol btw echo everything you said in your review! I found my Ruger P-85 a bit of a snug carry, so I traded it for an SR-9. Turning in my paperwork for CCW this week too.
It look like the 5.11 push pack?
I have watched two of your videos, this one and the Jumbo Versipack. If am looking for a pack to carry a few EDC items, iPad mini and Glock 43. Which is really your preferred bag?
Nice review, i ordered one!
will it ride on your back like a back pack?
Do u carry it even in shopping stores like walmart and ect or when go in leave in the car?
holy crap Sootch why do you have so many keys???
