That 50 BMG, much like the 500 Jeffries is gonna leave you with an inside out skin. I once saw a very slow motion video of a man shooting an elk with the BMG. The hydrostatic shock going through the elk was astonishing!
That sounds horrifying. I forget about how much extra damage is going on internally from the shock of the bullets. It’s pretty wild.
Also tried to look the video up. I didn’t see one specifically stand out but I’ll continue the search later. I watched I think Keith and his hunts but no slow mo stuff haha. His vids are pretty wild.

Have you test fired the Barrett chambered in .416? It is shooting a 299 grain round at 3,450 according to Barrett
299gr seems light for that caliber. Hmm

50 BMG. Developed by John Browning during WW 1. Pure genius. Still the standard. How many millions or billions of these rounds have been produced?
Half a deer "hunting" more like tenderized leftovers and probably requiring rucking in a 500 meter circle to gather leftover parts. As a crew served weapons instructor in the Navy and seeing what the .50 BMG cartridge can do to a man at over a half mile there's no way I would ever use it for large game other than maybe an angry bull elephant.
I wanna see the 4.6x30 banshee with rare breed trigger and silencer if you have one!

Man I wish I had enough patients to save up enough for a 50bmg. Them things are always gonna cost some serious $$$ if you want something with some descent accuracy.
If that's an example of a precision long range rifle, then my shitty $50 Mosin Nagant is as well, and my Sears branded Winchester Model 70 has been blessed by the gods!

Lee Reloading sells a Kit specifically for reloading the 50 BMG, and it has everything.
Great video. I'm not real impressed with the amount of bullet drop on such a high dollar weapon and round. A 3.75 group at 200yds seems a little excessive to me but it's consistent with what the ammo manufacturer published on the ballistics. The 338-shoots considerably better and can cost half as much to buy and shoot. I seriously considered the 50 BMG 10 years ago when they were about half the price of now but didn't jump because there's very few places to actually get the most out of it. Glad I didn't though it would be really neat to have one in the safe. You must have an awfully tolerant wife to let you collect all those "Bing-Bangs". You're a lucky Man.
Being that it was designed as an antimaterial round to be used to disable vehicles 3.75 in variance isn't terrible. It was made to shoot engine blocks at first, not people
@@foodank_atr817 well aware of its intended purpose and the 50 BMG most certainly impresses me but all the hype over it as a Civilian play toy is greatly exaggerated. imho its use to snipe people began as soon as a gunner wanted to practice long range kills but in realty its design isn't an ideal round for that purpose though its proven quite effective in capable hands which are few relative most Snipers issued and/or preferred weapon, so iv'e heard i sincerely thought about buying one 10-12 years ago as my favorite bing-bang store had one displayed on the counter and they goaded me as to how i'd be the Big D__k Dandy at our range but knowing the round as i do i decided since i didn't have a convenient range to shoot 500 and up it seemed foolish wish i had one but they're way over-priced and ammo prices are ridiculous. enjoy hearing it go off, as long as i'm aware, otherwise i want to eat dirt as quickly as i can.

Just picked up an m82a1 Barrett one reason being I can pick up 50 bmg surplus for a dollar more a round than hunting rounds in 30-06 at sportsman’s. Wondering if I should start a UA-cam channel for guns and mechanical projects.
