    This is freaking beautiful!!! This is what I've been looking for in Goth... The willingness and openness to talk about darkness in politics and the state of the planet. This is where I feel like goth could be such a powerful voice for creating change and waking people up to reality.

    • @RandomGothCouple
      @RandomGothCouple  Рік тому +3

      Glad you enjoyed it! To be fair Goth was a counter culture movement that was originally very political! Particularly when it came down to government corruption, I mean it was born in Britain in the 80s so that was quite a political climate. I'm always happy to hear different viewpoints and am a strong believer that open discussion of all beliefs only benefits everyone involved!

    Great interview yet again! I find myself sympathizing with a lot of what Valor said. The world has a lot of very scary things going on right now, and I feel like I"m constantly balancing between trying to stay informed, but not be overwhelmed, trying to do what i can while not feeling like it's pointless, and definitely turning to music and other arts for relief and a reminder of what's good.

    Thanks for the interesting interview! Speaking of the Internet, it averages everything. For example, I faced a situation where people tried to cancel me because I had better skills than them. And it so happened that their envy was the average, and I was the outlier. In general, it was an attempt by the community to shield itself from changes, since it was easier. Is this the best way? Of course not. And so I decided on my own that I didn't want to be part of that stagnation and the culture of cancellation.

    Great interview and Christian Death's last album was by far their best since the 80s both musically and lyrically! Each time I have met Valor he has been insightful and great to discuss the happenings of the world. I do have to note: an inverted cross is in reference to Saint Peter who requested to be crucified upside down because he felt unworthy to be crucified the same way as Jesus Christ. Not sure why so many black metal bands aren't aware of that lol.

      @@RandomGothCouple I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area so I asked Valor if he knew Jello Biafra from the Dead Kennedys. Back in the 80's there was a lot of intermingling between the punk and deathrock bands of San Francisco and Los Angeles. He actually went on a car trip with Jello from LA to SF one time. I kind of figured that they knew one another since they sing about similar subject matters.

    Hey praise Valor all you want.. I am an original CD fan. I had to deal with the complete bull crap that man pulled on Rozz and even the original members. I m talking about when valor stole the name Christian Death from Rozz. The betrayal he felt so comfortable doing. I have been a musician since the late 80s and its never crossed my mind.. To steal a name of a band from someone that was the face of that name... No apologies whatsoever .. Rozz gave them the opportunity to be more then they were and this is the crap pulled by valor... It wasnt just the name .. When Rozz WAS OUT OF THE BAND THEY PLAYED SONGS FROM THE FIRST christian Death album. Now that is backstabbing 101. Not one member of Pompus arse played or wrote on the first album... Good bye Valor so moat it be....

    So, I never listened to Christian Death because I heard that they mock Christianity, and as a Christian Goth I didn’t want to listen to them, however I am very open to giving people a chance and make my own decisions without someone trying to influence my own opinion and thoughts.
    Thank you for this video, I am so glad you interviewed him, I am glad I got a chance to hear and learn about the band. Maybe I will give their music a try. One thing I can say is that even though I am a Christian, I am totally against organized religion, and I am anti-establishment, as far as my relationship is with God, that is personal, and I believe Jesus was against organized religion as well.

    • @IanCognito333
      @IanCognito333 4 місяці тому

      As the type of Christian you describe yourself to be, I do not see a conflict with listening to and even supporting much of what Christian Death espouses lyrically and philosophically through Valor. What evil has been done in the name of Christ is the bone of contention for Valor more so than Christ himself. I have listened to the band since 1985 and considered myself a Christian during much of the decades that have followed and having met Valor and listened to how he describes his worldview, I don't think it is incompatible to be a follower of Christ and still find value in this band. To the haters that only appreciated the Rozz era of Christian Death, the band may have become a household name with the late frontman still singing, but what would the sacrifice have been? Valor turned this act into a statement of purpose that transcends performance and entertainment. He is a true intellectual and spiritual rebel that has never sold out and allowed "big music" to manipulate his integrity. I am not certain the original frontman would have had the same ethics.
