That's why I love portuguese festivals! You don't need to be running to see all the bands. Usually, festivals here only have one stage, and even if there is two stages, the bands don't perform at the same time. We also have time to rest, go to the restroom and to eat and drink 😅
I was at Download 2023, it was an incredible 4 days full of awesome bands. The heat was a bit much for a lot of people and their where people who where at the medical tents on day 1 with heat stroke. I feel like they maybe needed some more water points at the festival because they where always busy and took like 1hr for people to get a drink. I still really enjoyed myself though and i was at the front for Architects and BMTH and my god the mosh pits for both bands where insane.

Also, when you were talking about flight prices from Ireland to Britain my jaw dropped. It's also absolutely insane to me that you can go to a whole other country in 1 and a half hours.... my nephew and i are just now starting to feel a bit better ourselves. i think our festival flu may have been extended because we had a full day of travel back to the US last week which wore us out. i like that you mentioned that prices seemed reasonable to you. it was my first Download and i was surprised at how many people have been talking about how expensive everything was. i paid $350 each for our 5-day camping passes and saw like 25 bands. the *worst* seats to see metallica on their current tour are a little over $100 and bring me is $80 on average. so $350 for the choice of over 100 bands is more than reasonable. as for food… i have coeliac disease so it is very rare i can find food at a concert or festival let alone feel safe eating it. the amount of gluten-free food on offer at Download actually made me cry at one point. i ate very well and never once felt sick. that comfort alone would have had me paying anything they asked, but i found prices very reasonable for a festival. the crowds were insane but everyone was really nice (especially the very sweet Irish woman who helped my nephew and I carry our things up the nasty hill to orange camp night one). plus i met Adam and Moke from Lorna Shore randomly walking around on Sunday 😃 electric callboy and bring me the horizon were definitely the highlights of the festival for me. cannot wait for next year!
I was so gutted about the VV and Evanescence clash too but my OH reckons it was on purpose as they knew it would stagger the fans and not overcrowd either, I don’t think they anticipated just how many wanted to see Evanescence though! Love your channel guys ❤️
I saw the news articles saying it was the loudest it's ever been! Sorry if it kept you up! Think they turned it down on Friday but didn't feel like it!
From watching the video of the festival, I don't know if I could have done it. Being in the direct sun for that long without relief had to be difficult. Did a lot of people get sick or pass out from the heat?
The first couple days I was alright, but the last few days got increasingly more hot, and I got very very tired on the middle 2 days due to the heat and all the walking up and down hills in the heat. I missed a few bands on the middle and later days because I was just way too tired and way more concerned about my well being than seeing some of the bands. When Bring Me, Metallica's second set and Slipknot were playing I was cuddled up relaxed in my tent watching movies on my phone, snacking on chocolate fingers and downing bottles of milk. So Metallica's first set was the only headliner I saw, though the headliners weren't the ones I was hyped for anyway.
The adds were hell that's fore sure 🤣 I'm sorry to hear you had trouble getting into the festival on the first day, I camped and got lucky getting in but there were horror stories of 15 hours from setting off to getting parked up for some of our fellow campers. Agree BMTH were amazing. That story about the lad pissing through his shorts is gross wtf. For people going alone Download do something called Camp Loner that's set up specifically for that and apparently it goes well every year and they all make friends with those who are camped close. There's never enough cover at Download and it's been something people have been moaning about since I started going in 2014. Static Dress were amazing, sad to hear you missed them, idk if they have any Irish dates but you must see them on their November tour.

Conner, I love Evanescence. I never get to see them live because they always play the same statium when in my area and it is one that kills my legs sitting. I had to stand next to the stairs when I went to see Black Sabbath.
Honestly, I thought the Download Festival was decent, this year. Perfect shows for the year and beautiful pyrotechnics. The bands that were selected this year, honestly, did absolutely well even though some of the mosh pits were obnoxious, times. Things could be better but it was decent
I think I must have tuned out the fish and chips one too!! The Sweaty one I absolutely remember as well as the Download theme I'm surprised you didn't mention the Reception as one of the issues.... 👀 But maybe that was mostly me 🙃
I just always expect my phone not to work at these types of events tbh! And realistically there's not much they can do about it, except install a cell tower! There was allegedly free WiFi in the guest area but I couldn't connect to it no matter how many times I tried!
They will always be my favourite but I wish I could have seen them back in the day ! I was always too young and not allowed to go when they came here !

@@RandomGothCouple RAGNAROK VR on the Oculus Quest. Graphics are a bit meh but if you like accuracy games and music I think you both would enjoy it! They did a Hell fest raid (like an expansion pack) which had some cool songs.
Also i went to see some smaller/newer bands in the week like Caskets and Monuments. Would highly recommend seeing them they where both incredible as well. I have short videos on my channel that i uploaded of bands i saw whilst i was their. In case you want to see what other bands where like.
i didn't get the download flu but thats probably because i've been going since 09 the walking has actuly got better over the years, i was shocked i had to do such little walking haha download is like a big family for sure. been there alone once. and your never realy alone there haha
Strepsils and remember to wash your hands. Also the dust near places were people pee can have more then just soil in the dust. The first part also works for conversations, just try not to over use Strepsils because that can mess with your digestion. And plenty of water.
I just went to my first 3 day festival. Incarserationfest. I'm 42. I will never do it again because of the negatives about the whole thing. But... I am super thrilled I did it. The goods are way memorable. I crowd surfed for Killswitch Engage. One of my favorite bands. The people I met were awesome. The vibe was fucking sick. But..... that sun. I saw half naked goth girls everywere and was wondering how they were not scorched as my ginger self. Also Stabbing Westward. What a moment. Their sound guy suuuuucked. They were so low that us in the front kept yelling over their playing to turn it up. They did fix it after while. But it was gradual. A great moment though. One of the best from the Festival actually.
First time it's ever been sold out so I expected crowds but it made the walks an absolute slog. Also yes, didn't manage to film it for the vlog but there was a straight two hours of Sunday we tried to get water and every vendor was sold out. We were about ready to drop when we finally got some!
You guys are very entertaining and beautiful people, I probably drunkenly wandered past you several times especially if it was near the many ice cream trucks
You said you wished you'd seen Static Dress, The Nex Gen BMTH tour in January 2024, Static Dress are one of the support bands if you can get tickets for any of the 11 tour dates (there's 1 in Ireland I saw) Honestly I'd never heard of Static Dress until the BMTH tour was announced the day after they headlined Download!

That would be cool seeing the same tour twice in different places. I'm really excited too, I last saw BMTH live the month after There is a Hell was released, 13 years ago now! (I seem to have forgotten that music existed the last 10 years until last year somehow!!) Sad no pre Sempiternal songs get played anymore live, but I'm looking forward to seeing all the new songs. I'd never heard of Bad Omens or Static Dress until the Nex Gen tour was announced, they should both be great live.

Never done download but used to love Whitby Goth Weekend and had the chance of doing 4 weekends, 2008, 2009 then a unintended 5 year break we returned in 2014 and again in 2015. The last 2 we did, just didn't have the same atmosphere or vibe. I think our first 2 were the tail end of the original festival. More and more Steampunks started turning up, which brought more photographers and more general public to 'Goth spot'. Which brought more photographers, more Steampunkers and then the 'Goth Spotters' started wearing cheap costumes and its now just avalanched out of control. It's not a Goth weekend now but a Weekend Halloween Cosplay. It's over priced and far too busy for what was a out of season event 16 years ago. A lot of long time attended quit it over a decade ago for Europe events. We have not been on the Goth scene in 8 years but we were on it a good 15 years but it's just not the same.

Hi I whent to download festival last year and it was my first time and I love it 🤘 . yes it does get hot and they is no place to get out of the sun . but it's a very good festival again I love it 🤘 I'm glad you liked it 🤘
Here's the solution for all of your problems: Just go to Wacken or Hellfest instead. Or hell any number of smaller European festivals. Back when I used attend festivals I went from going to Wacken once a year to going to four to six smaller festivals across the whole of summer and autumn and I quite honestly spent about the same amount of money overall (quite a bit of time has passed since then and obviously the economy is in the shitter, but with planning and forethought I am certain that you would be able to get to multiple festivals for the ticket cost of Download alone). I would personally never go to a "proper" (multi day, camping) festival in the UK ever again. Firstly the atmosphere is significantly worse, honestly the vibe at Download is like being at the poorest rated Butlins in the country or a cracky seaside town on a Saturday night and for example Wacken is such a legitimately happy experience throughout. Secondly, far less twats! Never experienced either violent behaviour or theft at any of the euro fest's that I have been to. As where the concept of having your stuff stolen out of your tent, or a random dickhead using it as a personal toilet are synonymous with Download. And lastly, you can tack on an actual short holiday onto the end of your euro festival experience for your "recovery" window. I've got to see and relax in so much of Europe just by having a couple of three days on at the end of whatever festival I went to and I loved it! A cheap hostel, making use of the local Aldi/Lidl, it doesn't have to break the bank to be fun, relaxing and a means of expanding your experiences. Bonus point! You don't have to make your return journey hungover out of your brain and so filthy that your skin feels like a well used cat litter tray! That latter part is an absolute godsend I can tell you.
We have actually already been saying how we might to Hellfest next year! You are so right about all of this and make some really good points we have been talking about! Getting to chill and explore after sounds lovely too! We will be doing that for M’era Luna Festival in Germany this year !
I think Download-Festival is only for people who want to stay there for several days. *IKR* As a woman, please don't be stupid and go there alone! You can listen to your favourite music at home, as I sometimes do! Well this VLOG is perhaps good for haveing an imagination of what is awaiting you at #DownloadFestival
I have heard mixed things, some people preferred the way the stands were set this year, some didn't. But overall we did notice and mention to each other how difficult it must have been just to get around the festival. Sorry you had such a bad experience, hoping it improves in future!
Went to see Depeche Mode got Covid, ended up causing something SO rare I nearly died. Went to Cruel World, show got cancelled before Siouxsie got back to hotel was sick for 3 days. Debating whether I should push it w/ Aftershock festival 🫣😆😳

For rain, big black garbage bags with heads and arms cut into them. The bags are lightweight and easy to carry. When I rode a public transit/bus I had to use "a bag" because it was pouring rain. I also used a smaller grocery bag for my head. But the funny part was when I got onto the bus and pulled the bag off over my head this 2 or 3-year-old little boy started screaming, "Ghost!" and crying. For the whole ride, his eyes full of terror were on me. If I looked at him he would freak out. ah ha lol Those were the days.... So I had to not look at him because scaring children has never been cool.

I went to Copenhell 2 weeks ago, the first two days were super dusty and hot, the other two were crazy cold with a thunderstorm coming in. My suggestion to everyone, bring a rain poncho, face mask for super dusty days and something to sit on in the grass. Really enjoyed your download videos, interesting to compare with other festivals, cheers from a fellow rocker in Sweden

@@RandomGothCouple We had a great time, huge variation of metal, Pantera was great. Biggest suprice was Angus McSix, very fun to watch, didnt know them before. Napalm death is beyond everything i ever seen, very odd hilarious and crazy performance.
We definitely need to find a market for nice lightweight linen or cotton clothes that work for goths. I think that lightweight linen trousers tucked into boots would look really great and a lightweight pirate style shirt maybe and then carry like an extra shirt or jacket for if it does rain and of course always carry a folding umbrella because you can use it for the sun or the rain
I've been to Wacken, Hellfest, and a few in in the U.S. Wacken had SO MUCH walking. Hellfest was a lot better. The stages are closer, but it doesn't feel cramped. Can't recommend that fest enough. Both felt safe to me as a woman, but I went with my partner. Though I did not camp. I will say security is a lot harder to deal with at Hellfest since they almost exclusively speak French. But you shouldn't run into them unless you're doing stupid shit or misplace something. My partner lost his wallet in the mosh LOL We eventually did find it but RIP our Euros. Both were around 240 euros, but this was right before Covid. I feel like the price is getting higher and higher. Download sounds like one of the most expensive I've heard. >_> Though I'd rather fly to Europe and go to your fests than the ones here in the U.S. They charge more and the bands are not as varied. Glad you had some fun!
We've both been VERY interested in Hellfest recently so hoping it might be possible for us to attend next year. Looks absolutely amazing. But I suppose we're pretty blessed in Europe with selection too. Also yes ticket prices in the US seem very high. 200/300 for a one day festival. Can only imagine how much blue ridge is for the four days

The last one I went to was Soundwave maybe 2014/16. I took my 12yr old spawnling and we saw Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Slayer and so many more (SoaD had the best performance the day I went, much like how you described BMtH). Yeess!!! I feel you. I went to Good Things last year, that was great fun and it's quite genre varied. The land here is just too sprawling to have a heavy festival without so much variety I think too. I miss Soundwave, I only went once. Wish I went more!
It's good to know people within this culture still act with civility and safety whereas there's a particular culture in America (and other places as well) where there's no way a big get together like this would be possible without guaranteed violence and very possible shootings/murders.......some people are just incapable of functioning in civil society
The traffic was definitely awful this year haha. BMTH set was so good honestly we ended up booking tickets for their tour after that set. Definitely agree with the shade, they had shaded areas in previous years so I found it weird they didn't this year (plus you couldn't get in there half the time because the tents were so busy this year). Great video, the tips at the end I completely agree with!
Omg same! I got tickets for the Dublin date! We were so shocked to see they had an Irish date! We were just walking away from the stage saying we hope we can see them again soon and then got the notification! Exactly yeah! We walked far over to the other side to get some shade in the tent and it was full so we sat outside !
DL always seems to mess up from one year to the next, on something. One year they'll get the toilets perfect, then the next they're terrible but we have shade, then the next they don't do either of those but they're prepared for mud, then the next they're not prepared for mud but they have shade again lol It's like every year they just lose all the notes from when they got something right and they fixate on something else instead.
@7:07 Yeah, honestly if you don't camp the heat is the worst thing but if you do camp, drownload is the worst. Done 2 drownloads and there is just never ending mud. You HAVE to wear wellies or long boots or you're losing your shoes. Then you end up with blisters or worse. It's brutual. The heat is still there usually so its humid as hell, you wake up in a hot wet sticky tent full of mud and you just never feel clean. Going for a late night pee is also hell.
I felt just fine coming back from Download. American vaccines, maybe? Lol. I did get stuck in Heathrow for 20 hours on my way back. Other than feeling exhausted for a few days after getting back. I just miss the community more than anything.

Loved download this year, only complaints are there wasn't enough shade and the cheeky sods put the price of water up on the Sunday which was a dick move. The bands were outstanding though, had a great time ❤❤
Wait did they really?? I didn't even notice! We spent nearly two hours trying to find water on Sunday and everywhere was sold out. By the time we found some I would have paid anything. Still a fantastic time and the lineup was great. Would definitely go back next year!

They wanted to stop people buying so much, that's a bit charitable I think though, probably just them being a bit greedy 🤣 it was £2.6 up until Sunday and then it was £3. I went in 2013 by myself, female, the ticket price was the same or not far off including the coach there. Never managed to get back cause of life being life but it was the same atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and I always found someone to chat to. My aim is to go again next year...after a decade. Jeeze

Anyway I really enjoyed watching this video on your adventures at Download Festival, I remember seeing my all time favourite Heavy Metal Band Disturbed posting their preference at Download Festival UK, I definitely understand with time and roster clashes between one stage to another. Also, thankyou for the tips and tricks when attempting to go to Download Festival, I've never been to Download Festival myself Because 1 I don't do music festivals due to back pain for standing too long, 2 I have really bad sensitive hearing and I can't stand loud noises and 3 I don't cope well with large crowds, plus I'm on the spectrum and it's difficult as it is trying to cope. But besides that I'm glad that you had an amazing and fantastic time. Thankyou so very much guys, it's very nice to meet you and I can't wait to see more videos. If you are worried about water quality try getting a Grayl Geopress water bottle. Yes they are expensive, BUT they are a water filter system that is very good. My wife can't stand our well water but she can drink our water once it's gone through the press. One filter will work for 250 L. Though how we use it the filter lasts for longer. You can use one to filter and fill your other bottles. I've seen video of people using these out camping and hiking and the stream water was brown. Their sight lists what it will filter out.

concert sickness sucks. i once got walking pneumonia that lasted months and left me with lung problems i still deal with. the only good part of it was not answering the phone. i think at one point i just go someone to tell everyone i got hit by a train and to send money. might want to try that. ben and jerrys, sour patch kids and pho helps sickness.
I got it at their show in Dublin last year! It was funny actually, I was listening to them for months and when they announced a show here I was so surprised they were actually coming to Ireland! Then they got added as a last minute addition to Mera Luna to fill in for a band that dropped out, then they ended up in ireland again a few weeks later as support for Combichrist! So ended up seeing them 3 times last year 😅

From watching the video of the festival, I don't know if I could have done it. Being in the direct sun for that long without relief had to be difficult. Did a lot of people get sick or pass out from the heat?
The first couple days I was alright, but the last few days got increasingly more hot, and I got very very tired on the middle 2 days due to the heat and all the walking up and down hills in the heat.
I missed a few bands on the middle and later days because I was just way too tired and way more concerned about my well being than seeing some of the bands.
When Bring Me, Metallica's second set and Slipknot were playing I was cuddled up relaxed in my tent watching movies on my phone, snacking on chocolate fingers and downing bottles of milk. So Metallica's first set was the only headliner I saw, though the headliners weren't the ones I was hyped for anyway.
The adds were hell that's fore sure 🤣
I'm sorry to hear you had trouble getting into the festival on the first day, I camped and got lucky getting in but there were horror stories of 15 hours from setting off to getting parked up for some of our fellow campers.
Agree BMTH were amazing.
That story about the lad pissing through his shorts is gross wtf.
For people going alone Download do something called Camp Loner that's set up specifically for that and apparently it goes well every year and they all make friends with those who are camped close.
There's never enough cover at Download and it's been something people have been moaning about since I started going in 2014.
Static Dress were amazing, sad to hear you missed them, idk if they have any Irish dates but you must see them on their November tour.
We got tickets to see Static Dress with BMTH in Dublin Ireland! Thankfully they are coming here 👏

Conner, I love Evanescence. I never get to see them live because they always play the same statium when in my area and it is one that kills my legs sitting. I had to stand next to the stairs when I went to see Black Sabbath.
Honestly, I thought the Download Festival was decent, this year. Perfect shows for the year and beautiful pyrotechnics. The bands that were selected this year, honestly, did absolutely well even though some of the mosh pits were obnoxious, times. Things could be better but it was decent

I just always expect my phone not to work at these types of events tbh! And realistically there's not much they can do about it, except install a cell tower! There was allegedly free WiFi in the guest area but I couldn't connect to it no matter how many times I tried!

@@RandomGothCouple RAGNAROK VR on the Oculus Quest. Graphics are a bit meh but if you like accuracy games and music I think you both would enjoy it! They did a Hell fest raid (like an expansion pack) which had some cool songs.
Also i went to see some smaller/newer bands in the week like Caskets and Monuments. Would highly recommend seeing them they where both incredible as well. I have short videos on my channel that i uploaded of bands i saw whilst i was their. In case you want to see what other bands where like.

Strepsils and remember to wash your hands. Also the dust near places were people pee can have more then just soil in the dust. The first part also works for conversations, just try not to over use Strepsils because that can mess with your digestion. And plenty of water.
I just went to my first 3 day festival. Incarserationfest. I'm 42. I will never do it again because of the negatives about the whole thing. But... I am super thrilled I did it. The goods are way memorable. I crowd surfed for Killswitch Engage. One of my favorite bands. The people I met were awesome. The vibe was fucking sick. But..... that sun. I saw half naked goth girls everywere and was wondering how they were not scorched as my ginger self. Also Stabbing Westward. What a moment. Their sound guy suuuuucked. They were so low that us in the front kept yelling over their playing to turn it up. They did fix it after while. But it was gradual. A great moment though. One of the best from the Festival actually.
It was great, great atmosphere, same amazing people but the water situation and overcrowding was beyond horrible...
First time it's ever been sold out so I expected crowds but it made the walks an absolute slog. Also yes, didn't manage to film it for the vlog but there was a straight two hours of Sunday we tried to get water and every vendor was sold out. We were about ready to drop when we finally got some!

You said you wished you'd seen Static Dress, The Nex Gen BMTH tour in January 2024, Static Dress are one of the support bands if you can get tickets for any of the 11 tour dates (there's 1 in Ireland I saw) Honestly I'd never heard of Static Dress until the BMTH tour was announced the day after they headlined Download!

Never done download but used to love Whitby Goth Weekend and had the chance of doing 4 weekends, 2008, 2009 then a unintended 5 year break we returned in 2014 and again in 2015. The last 2 we did, just didn't have the same atmosphere or vibe. I think our first 2 were the tail end of the original festival. More and more Steampunks started turning up, which brought more photographers and more general public to 'Goth spot'. Which brought more photographers, more Steampunkers and then the 'Goth Spotters' started wearing cheap costumes and its now just avalanched out of control. It's not a Goth weekend now but a Weekend Halloween Cosplay. It's over priced and far too busy for what was a out of season event 16 years ago. A lot of long time attended quit it over a decade ago for Europe events. We have not been on the Goth scene in 8 years but we were on it a good 15 years but it's just not the same.
Can belive i just found you guys . The vid is awesome . The fish and chips guy is literally burned in my brain 😭😭😭. I think they should have prepared a bit better with the water stations,few times i was going for water and a saw a que for miles to which i gave up and go back for a laga 😅

Hi I whent to download festival last year and it was my first time and I love it 🤘 . yes it does get hot and they is no place to get out of the sun . but it's a very good festival again I love it 🤘 I'm glad you liked it 🤘
Here's the solution for all of your problems:
Just go to Wacken or Hellfest instead. Or hell any number of smaller European festivals. Back when I used attend festivals I went from going to Wacken once a year to going to four to six smaller festivals across the whole of summer and autumn and I quite honestly spent about the same amount of money overall (quite a bit of time has passed since then and obviously the economy is in the shitter, but with planning and forethought I am certain that you would be able to get to multiple festivals for the ticket cost of Download alone).
I would personally never go to a "proper" (multi day, camping) festival in the UK ever again. Firstly the atmosphere is significantly worse, honestly the vibe at Download is like being at the poorest rated Butlins in the country or a cracky seaside town on a Saturday night and for example Wacken is such a legitimately happy experience throughout. Secondly, far less twats! Never experienced either violent behaviour or theft at any of the euro fest's that I have been to. As where the concept of having your stuff stolen out of your tent, or a random dickhead using it as a personal toilet are synonymous with Download.
And lastly, you can tack on an actual short holiday onto the end of your euro festival experience for your "recovery" window. I've got to see and relax in so much of Europe just by having a couple of three days on at the end of whatever festival I went to and I loved it! A cheap hostel, making use of the local Aldi/Lidl, it doesn't have to break the bank to be fun, relaxing and a means of expanding your experiences.
Bonus point! You don't have to make your return journey hungover out of your brain and so filthy that your skin feels like a well used cat litter tray! That latter part is an absolute godsend I can tell you.
We have actually already been saying how we might to Hellfest next year! You are so right about all of this and make some really good points we have been talking about! Getting to chill and explore after sounds lovely too! We will be doing that for M’era Luna Festival in Germany this year !

The experience for disabled people was utterly appalling.
I have heard mixed things, some people preferred the way the stands were set this year, some didn't. But overall we did notice and mention to each other how difficult it must have been just to get around the festival. Sorry you had such a bad experience, hoping it improves in future!

For rain, big black garbage bags with heads and arms cut into them. The bags are lightweight and easy to carry. When I rode a public transit/bus I had to use "a bag" because it was pouring rain. I also used a smaller grocery bag for my head. But the funny part was when I got onto the bus and pulled the bag off over my head this 2 or 3-year-old little boy started screaming, "Ghost!" and crying. For the whole ride, his eyes full of terror were on me. If I looked at him he would freak out. ah ha lol Those were the days.... So I had to not look at him because scaring children has never been cool.

I went to Copenhell 2 weeks ago, the first two days were super dusty and hot, the other two were crazy cold with a thunderstorm coming in. My suggestion to everyone, bring a rain poncho, face mask for super dusty days and something to sit on in the grass. @@RandomGothCouple We had a great time, huge variation of metal, Pantera was great. Biggest suprice was Angus McSix, very fun to watch, didnt know them before. Napalm death is beyond everything i ever seen, very odd hilarious and crazy performance.
We definitely need to find a market for nice lightweight linen or cotton clothes that work for goths. I think that lightweight linen trousers tucked into boots would look really great and a lightweight pirate style shirt maybe and then carry like an extra shirt or jacket for if it does rain and of course always carry a folding umbrella because you can use it for the sun or the rain
My only complaint would be in a festival or croud, a umbrella would be extremely obnoxious for everyone behind you

I've been to Wacken, Hellfest, and a few in in the U.S. Wacken had SO MUCH walking. Hellfest was a lot better. The stages are closer, but it doesn't feel cramped. Can't recommend that fest enough. Both felt safe to me as a woman, but I went with my partner. Though I did not camp. I will say security is a lot harder to deal with at Hellfest since they almost exclusively speak French. But you shouldn't run into them unless you're doing stupid shit or misplace something. My partner lost his wallet in the mosh LOL We eventually did find it but RIP our Euros. Both were around 240 euros, but this was right before Covid. I feel like the price is getting higher and higher. Download sounds like one of the most expensive I've heard. >_> Though I'd rather fly to Europe and go to your fests than the ones here in the U.S. They charge more and the bands are not as varied. Glad you had some fun!
We've both been VERY interested in Hellfest recently so hoping it might be possible for us to attend next year. Looks absolutely amazing. And I speak a little French so that would finally come in handy 😅

This looked like fun! I am quite envious of you northern hemisphere folks. I can't think of the last time Australia had a decent festival for those of us more darkly inclined. The last one I went to was Soundwave maybe 2014/16. I took my 12yr old spawnling and we saw Slipknot, Coal Chamber, Slayer and so many more (SoaD had the best performance the day I went, much like how you described BMtH).

The traffic was definitely awful this year haha. BMTH set was so good honestly we ended up booking tickets for their tour after that set. Definitely agree with the shade, they had shaded areas in previous years so I found it weird they didn't this year (plus you couldn't get in there half the time because the tents were so busy this year). Great video, the tips at the end I completely agree with!
Omg same! I got tickets for the Dublin date! We were so shocked to see they had an Irish date! We were just walking away from the stage saying we hope we can see them again soon and then got the notification! Exactly yeah! We walked far over to the other side to get some shade in the tent and it was full so we sat outside !

DL always seems to mess up from one year to the next, on something. One year they'll get the toilets perfect, then the next they're terrible but we have shade, then the next they don't do either of those but they're prepared for mud, then the next they're not prepared for mud but they have shade again lol
It's like every year they just lose all the notes from when they got something right and they fixate on something else instead.
@7:07 Yeah, honestly if you don't camp the heat is the worst thing but if you do camp, drownload is the worst. Done 2 drownloads and there is just never ending mud. You HAVE to wear wellies or long boots or you're losing your shoes.
Then you end up with blisters or worse. It's brutual. The heat is still there usually so its humid as hell, you wake up in a hot wet sticky tent full of mud and you just never feel clean. Going for a late night pee is also hell.
My download long sleeve was £30 my download tie dye hoodie was £50 my Shinedown and Beartooth long sleeves from concerts were both £50 as a comparison

I felt just fine coming back from Download. American vaccines, maybe? Lol. I did get stuck in Heathrow for 20 hours on my way back. Other than feeling exhausted for a few days after getting back. I just miss the community more than anything.

Loved download this year, only complaints are there wasn't enough shade and the cheeky sods put the price of water up on the Sunday which was a dick move. The bands were outstanding though, had a great time ❤❤
Wait did they really?? I didn't even notice! We spent nearly two hours trying to find water on Sunday and everywhere was sold out. By the time we found some I would have paid anything.
Still a fantastic time and the lineup was great. Would definitely go back next year!

Anyway I really enjoyed watching this video on your adventures at Download Festival, I remember seeing my all time favourite Heavy Metal Band Disturbed posting their preference at Download Festival UK, I definitely understand with time and roster clashes between one stage to another. Also, thankyou for the tips and tricks when attempting to go to Download Festival, I've never been to Download Festival myself Because 1 I don't do music festivals due to back pain for standing too long, 2 I have really bad sensitive hearing and I can't stand loud noises and 3 I don't cope well with large crowds, plus I'm on the spectrum and it's difficult as it is trying to cope. But besides that I'm glad that you had an amazing and fantastic time. Thankyou so very much guys, it's very nice to meet you and I can't wait to see more videos. If you are worried about water quality try getting a Grayl Geopress water bottle. Yes they are expensive, BUT they are a water filter system that is very good. My wife can't stand our well water but she can drink our water once it's gone through the press. One filter will work for 250 L. Though how we use it the filter lasts for longer.
You can use one to filter and fill your other bottles.
I've seen video of people using these out camping and hiking and the stream water was brown.
Their sight lists what it will filter out.

concert sickness sucks. i once got walking pneumonia that lasted months and left me with lung problems i still deal with. the only good part of it was not answering the phone. i think at one point i just go someone to tell everyone i got hit by a train and to send money. might want to try that. ben and jerrys, sour patch kids and pho helps sickness.

I got it at their show in Dublin last year! It was funny actually, I was listening to them for months and when they announced a show here I was so surprised they were actually coming to Ireland! Then they got added as a last minute addition to Mera Luna to fill in for a band that dropped out, then they ended up in ireland again a few weeks later as support for Combichrist! So ended up seeing them 3 times last year 😅
