  • This is a video to explain how the R/D Lock works. This is basically a rear differential Locker available on many 4x4s. Like the centre differential lock, the rear differential lock will split torque between the two rear wheels to ensure they both receive drive, even when one wheel is off the ground.
The Pajero Traction Switch is available at:

Had my first experience of getting stuck in Al Qudra yesterday, not a really nice feeling but knowing a few things which YOU taught me helped. Thanks for these insightful videos of "how to" in specific situations, far more value than typical reviews.

I have a 2007 path finder and I hope the website that you shared has compatible gear for it as it does host products for Xterra which might be compatible with my model as well. However I'm in Dubai, and I'm looking for a Rear Diff (not ARB but a cheap one).. Is there a good workshop which can install the system..thanks

I like how your number plate is below the spare wheel. Here in Australia it is mounted to the rear wheel with the rear camera, which is a little annoying as it prevents us using a gear/rubbish bag hanging off the back wheel. Did your car come from factory with the number plate there or have you made a modification.
By the way, I have the Cronos traction mod on my car, too.

Hey Karl thanks for the message. I personally removed the rear Tyre cover and relocated the license plates and fog lights on a custom made metal bumper. Awesome stuff on the Cronos TC loom! 😊

It seems to me that your traction control is not working at the beginning of the video when the car is stuck because the skidding wheels do not brake and the torque is not transmitted to those wheels that have traction with the surface. P.S. Some Pajero\Montero configurations do not have traction control but have a rear differential lock, and there are also configurations that, on the contrary, have traction control but do not have a rear differential lock. There are also cars that do not have or have both functions. This can be checked on the indicator panel when starting the car.
