Tori Groves I think first one was just spectacular, no over the top gore, amazing story and that twist... WOW but then later movies lost a bit of that and amplified the gore so I think that’s what most fans miss a bit. But like you said, I as well, love Saw movies and watch it as a drama series 😄
Story, yes. ‘Cherish your life. Cherish YOUR life.’ That hangs my interest in the details-blind sense of the larger concept. But after escaping death, I think many would agree it wouldn’t work long term for most

As a Scream fan it feels good to say that it's the only horror franchise where every movie has something really good about it and they're all very watchable.
Yes! Even if some instalments have bad elements and plot points, I think the scream franchise is one where I can rewatch every movie and still enjoy it as much as I did (if not more) than I did the last time!

I have an unpopular opinion, The creatures while effective, i didnt think it was necessary for their addition. Just the notion of trapped and lost underground is terrifying.
I would have been cool with the second one except I really didn’t like most of the characters they added and for me it was boring and less well done with the environment

Even when the first one came out, I felt like it was someone just had a twisted idea for special effects for a kill in a Saw movie and decided to base an entire movie around it... The fact that they decided to make more than one movie is just astounding to me lol. 🙄😂
Paul Hurtado the story of how the director got the idea for the 1st one is actually pretty interesting haha basically the director was watching the news with his friend and there was a story about a child molester and his friend joked that they should stitch these people-mouth to butt- with some gross truck drivers as a punishment :D
What’s funny about THE final destination is the race track scene was filmed at my local track. I can vividly remember them filming at the track across the street from my house as a early teen
I was expecting to see Scream 3 on this list but I'm glad it wasn't. I rewatched it last week and I was highly entertained even though the writing and story beats could be lazy at times. I have a new found appreciation for it!
Scream 3 is actually good but we all need that one to pick on.. I love Scream 1,2 and 3 it's actually Scream 4 the one I have mixed feelings about. Scream 3 wasn't as bad as people say and the soundtrack kicks ass
hey sarah!!! really enjoyed the video ♡ i think if you’re gonna do “sequels that are better than the original” you should add Ouija:Origin of Evil & Annabelle Creation. in my opinion those were some of the best sequels to movies that just kinda felt meh. personally, the first ouija was so bad like the acting & story & stuff was just horrible & the first Annabelle had a meh story & the scares weren’t really there but their sequels were great!
To be honest, I don't like the Saw movies because of it's gore and traps. I love John Kramer as a villain and even though I don't agree with him, he's just so interesting because he does. The Saw movies were always about the story and the plot for me, and I hate that they lost that and just turned them into a gorefest. I actually own a collection of all the 8 Saw movies. Problem is that they are totally cut and I don't want to watch them, because I don't want the plot to be ruined. The best movies were the first 3 and they had the least gore out of all of them
I feel like the cloverfield series has it all. The original movie is pretty good, the second one is amaze balls, the third one is terrible. Honestly I forget how gay I am when I watch Mary Elizabeth Winstead being awesome.

In fact, I would say that it's very loosely based on the game, while Silent Hill 3D is off-the-rails bonkers. I will be charitable to the first movie because I watched it before I reintroduced myself to the games and became a superfan, and I *did* enjoy it in a guilty pleasure type of way, so for me the Silent Hill movie is a terrible Silent Hill adaptation and a middling/average horror movie.
To me, the first SH movie might not have been faithful in plot, but it definitely was in mood/feeling/visuals. It’s my favorite movie based on a video game. Sure, Pyramid Head didn’t make sense in this context, but he doesn’t in later games either. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing and taken right from the game.
I agree, I was thinking that if she doesn't play the games that she should just keep her critique of the film to that of a horror film, whether it is based on a game or not and not even bring them up in comparison to the films.
My cat Koneko went to the TV and gave Pepe a lil paw 😭😻 so cute. I’m the same with Silent Hill Revelation. I honestly don’t even think the first film is that good really, but it’s one of my faves and I’ve watched it sooo many times. The second one just makes me laugh 😅 but I did recently buy the steel book of it cos it was super cheap!

I've always loved horror (I'm a playwright who writes in the horror genre) but I've always been too scared to watch paranormal movies. However, since watching your videos and due to the current state of the world, I am watching all the movies you recommend and ones I've always been too scared to watch! I love them! I actually like Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, somehow it actually scared me and it worked for me. I remember watching this at my Tia’s house and remember going to the bathroom and being locked in and thought it was a ghost. It’s one of my favorite worst sequel
And the 4th one still sucked. Even though the remake was technically a prequel to the first one it still wasn't that great! Final Destination 1 2 and 3 were the best.
I genuinely like Jigsaw. I think part of the reason. Is that it was the first Saw film I saw in theaters, mainly because I was 4 when the first Saw came out, so I came into it pretty late
@@jacklemm1518 I’ve only seen saw 1,2 and Jigsaw. I’ve also seen about half of saw 3 but didn’t finish It because I disliked it so much. The saw series went downhill after 2 in my opinion, the fist was definitely the best because it was so simple. Jigsaw was actually better then I expected .
I'm not even really a fan of horror movies (I hate jump scares), but I legitimately enjoyed the first human centipede. It was just such a unique, but admittedly disturbing concept, and the 3 actors really were good in the sense that watching them go through this shitshow was very sad. I've never seen the second one because i couldn't find it anywhere but yeah the 3rd.....definitely meant to be more satirical than anything else. The first one though... i really felt like it wasn't trying to do too much, like the 3rd.. it was simply an interesting disturbing horror movie
They didn't even get Aiko Horiuchi (Grudge 3) or Takako Fuji (the original Kayako in the Ju-on series, Grudge 1 & 2) to do the cameo which made me sad :/ I mean it might of not been possible or they didn't want to but it still would of been a really nice little tidbit to an already bad movie.
Eli Roth movies are miss or miss for me. He is my least favorite of all directors. I'd even rate Michael Bay movies higher because at least they're honest. He knows their trash, he doesn't think he's making art, he didn't shoot for something and fail.
final destination 4 is actually fun for me lol i loved how the characters were stereotypical but i kind of got attached to them. final destination 3 on the other hand took me 3 days to watch i just couldn't connect with any of the characters besides wendys boyfriend and best friend who died at the beginning
Anyone else love horror but get anxiety & squeamish with gore/torture/sickness but also can’t get enough of the thriller/shock aspects of horror so you have to put yourself through the anxiety of watching the gross scenes😂
It's like "OK, WWE needs to REALLY stop with putting wrestlers in horror; not EVERY horror film that they're in is going to be pure gold!" I mean, I prefer Warwick Davis Leprechaun over Hornswoggle Leprechaun; at least the Warwick Davis Leprechaun will be a twisted and sadistic comedian instead of a feral little arse.
Yes, I was also disappointed with it. It was a shame that it had decent directors/actors but it just felt like an Asylum Studios knock off. The set pieces in the original were really impressive - and the sequel looked like it could have been shot in any hospital/morgue closed for the day.
Favorite sequel is definitely Hellbound: Hellraiser II. Best remake is Suspiria! As a Child's Play fan who has not seen the remake I kind of love all of the sequels except for the last two oddly enough.
Spiral is actually directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who I believe directed Saw 2-4, which gives me a lot of hope for the new Saw! Saw 2-4 were actually my favorites in the series.
Some of my personal worsts: Howling II: Stirba - Werewolf Bitch - Absolutely freaking insane how absurd that movie is. Feels like 6-7 different movies fused together! Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines - After # 2 the Wrong Turn franchise became really silly, but this one was the absolute worst. Nothing made a tiny bit of sense here (and yet I still kinda enjoy it for it's mean-spirited cheesiness). Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge - Mostly because it's sandwitched between two great ones. Friday the 13th: A New Beginning - not for the reason most dislike it, but for the total lack of focus (these characters have NO purpose apart from dying) and poor continiuty. Ending made no sense either. Sinister 2 - Bad idea to give those annoying ghost kids so much to do. It took away everything that made the firs work.
Love the representation of hell in Hellbound. I wish they would have explored that ideology in the sequels. But I agree, the countless terrible sequels really tarnished this once great franchise

I actually liked the The Grudge (2020) 🤷🏾♂️. It's not perfect, but i definitely don't regret watching it. Btw I liked the first WiB, but I'm surprised people liked the first Woman in Black, cause I remember there being split opinions over it. I also preferred the Cabin Fever remake over the original lol. The original pissed me off cause it want what I thought it would be.
if you haven’t seen them, try creep and creep 2, they’re on netflix. it was the first time i thought a sequel was just as good as the first if not better, and they work together perfectly. they’re not hugely gory, they’re psychological, but i actually love them. mark dunlap is fantastic. and i learned recently that almost the entire movies were improvised. they were given a bare bones script to work with - you’d literally never know that from watching because the cast are so good
Most horror films sequels mostly suck. To be honest in my opinion I like all the Saw films except for Jigaw. Final destination well my favorites are 1 and 3 especially the 3rd one. Hostel 2 sucks and American Pyscho doesn't exist to me..I do like the first two Insidious films though
The first Silent Hill movie was bad too but the second one was far worse. Perhaps I'd have liked it more if it weren't based on one of my favorite game series but the games have such cerebral plots and an abundance of symbolism with cryptic, sometimes esoteric story elements: the kind you need to read or watch videos about to fully appreciate. The movies just seemed like a sum of appearances from monsters and characters pulled from the game. One thing that annoyed me was Silent Hill 3 had a character named Vincent who was an crooked older male (40s maybe) priest that manipulates Heather (protagonist) for his own gain. Among other things he's meant to represent a vulnerable Heather's distrust for older men and their roles in her life. The movie turned him into a teenaged love interest which shows that they didn't understand his character to begin with. Play those games, especially Silent Hill 2 and 3. If you have a hard time going back to Playstation 2 or struggle with old school survival horror (they are somewhat difficult) then watch a video because the story is amazing and it's scarier than any movie.
I hate the Paranormal activity films. I dont know which one I went to see in theatres with my dad back then but I could tell he just wanted to leave and I regretted my decision on but in a ticket. Also I only love the first Human centipede. The second one made gag, sure it's very creepy but I didn't like it one bit. I was horrified by the last 20 minutes especially since I saw the directors cut.
The first one was legit disturbing and leaned more into the horror aspect. The second one was just so out there I stopped watching after the first 15-20 minutes, and the third one I didn't even bother. I still regret watching the first one, but at least I can honestly say it creeped me the hell out.

As an older horror fan who was raised on 70s horror - the absolute worst sequel I've ever seen, horror or any other genre, is the fairly recent "I Spit On Your Grave - Deja Vu", set 40 years after the 70s original. The movie is an inept disgrace that contradicts almost everything from the first movie and has plot holes that you could drive a semi-truck through. Here's one example. The youngest of the villains is a bumbling bafoon in his 20s. After kidnapping Jennifer, main character from the first movie, he tells her "Johnny was like a brother to me". OK. Lets review. Johnny was one of the gang rapist from the first film set 40 year earlier (he was the one in the famous bathtub scene). This means that this new character would not even have been born yet when Jennifer went on her revenge spree, so it's impossible that ever would have met Johnny. What a mess - and 2 and a half hours of mess to plow through (the original was less than 90 mins.)
The Strangers: Prey at night is my least favorite sequel ever. The original scared me so much and I was so excited for the sequel, but there was literally nothing good about it lol
I don't thing being the "biggest Halloween fan" means you have to like any garbage they put out! I would think a die hard Halloween fan would like Resurrection and H2 even less because they are so far off from the original. I mean I'm one of the biggest fans of T1 & T2, but I know the post T2 sequels are complete garbage. That doesn't mean I'm less of a Terminator fan, I just don't like bad Terminator movies that shit on the roots of the franchise.
Neither of the silent hill movies are loyal to the source material at all. What I will give the first Silent Hill movie is that while it's not following that script it at least give us that silent hill vibe we fans know and love and creates it's own story in the wake of it. Revelations was trying to be everything at once; it was trying to be a sequel to a silent hill movie not based off the game while also trying to follow the third game story while also changing things so that it answers questions of the first movie but not too much so we can see that this time it's staying loyal to the third game story. If Revelations had just continued as a sequel to the movie Silent hill it might have been better and not suddenly trying to give the fans what they want. Silent hill movies is a guilty pleasure of mine so while I hate it as a fan I love seeing my favorite game in movie form

I totally agree saw 3D and saw 5 are my least favorite. I liked jigsaw, I think it was a good return for the franchise. Surprisingly saw 6 is one of my favorites. I'm also excited for Spiral!
15:20 agreed. I LOVE the Final Destination series because of the creative deaths. I do rent one every so often, but never The Final Destination. The third one when it was out (I was 14 I think), had my big crush in it at the time. I am definitely a fan of the franchise though.

I think the reason final destination 4 is called the final destination is because final destination 5 is prequel that takes place before final destination 1 meaning final destination 4 is the final destination because in the timeline it’s the final time this sort of situation happens

The first Silent Hill movie is definitely not faithful to the game. In fact, I would say that it's very loosely based on the game, while Silent Hill 3D is off-the-rails bonkers. I will be charitable to the first movie because I watched it before I reintroduced myself to the games and became a superfan, and I *did* enjoy it in a guilty pleasure type of way, so for me the Silent Hill movie is a terrible Silent Hill adaptation and a middling/average horror movie.

To me, the first SH movie might not have been faithful in plot, but it definitely was in mood/feeling/visuals. It’s my favorite movie based on a video game. Sure, Pyramid Head didn’t make sense in this context, but he doesn’t in later games either. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing and taken right from the game.
The second movie was RIDICULOUS and just seemed like a reason for people to invent more Cenobytes without having the rights to Hellraiser.
I agree, I was thinking that if she doesn't play the games that she should just keep her critique of the film to that of a horror film, whether it is based on a game or not and not even bring them up in comparison to the films.

I’m the same with Silent Hill Revelation. I honestly don’t even think the first film is that good really, but it’s one of my faves and I’ve watched it sooo many times. The second one just makes me laugh 😅 but I did recently buy the steel book of it cos it was super cheap!

I agree about Centipede 3. It was so bad I was actually angry I watched it. I enjoyed the first two movies but that third one , what the hell were they thinking ! You cat is adorable!!

I actually like Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, somehow it actually scared me and it worked for me. I remember watching this at my Tia’s house and remember going to the bathroom and being locked in and thought it was a ghost. It’s one of my favorite worst sequel

Technically the last Final Destination took place before the first one. So the 4th still is the Final Destination.
And the 4th one still sucked. Even though the remake was technically a prequel to the first one it still wasn't that great! Final Destination 1 2 and 3 were the best.

I genuinely like Jigsaw. I think part of the reason. Is that it was the first Saw film I saw in theaters, mainly because I was 4 when the first Saw came out, so I came into it pretty late

@@jacklemm1518 I’ve only seen saw 1,2 and Jigsaw. I’ve also seen about half of saw 3 but didn’t finish It because I disliked it so much. The saw series went downhill after 2 in my opinion, the fist was definitely the best because it was so simple.

I'm not even really a fan of horror movies (I hate jump scares), but I legitimately enjoyed the first human centipede. It was just such a unique, but admittedly disturbing concept, and the 3 actors really were good in the sense that watching them go through this shitshow was very sad. I've never seen the second one because i couldn't find it anywhere but yeah the 3rd.....definitely meant to be more satirical than anything else. The first one though... i really felt like it wasn't trying to do too much, like the 3rd.. it was simply an interesting disturbing horror movie

They didn't even get Aiko Horiuchi (Grudge 3) or Takako Fuji (the original Kayako in the Ju-on series, Grudge 1 & 2) to do the cameo which made me sad :/ I mean it might of not been possible or they didn't want to but it still would of been a really nice little tidbit to an already bad movie.
Eli Roth movies are miss or miss for me. He is my least favorite of all directors. I'd even rate Michael Bay movies higher because at least they're honest. He knows their trash, he doesn't think he's making art, he didn't shoot for something and fail.

final destination 4 is actually fun for me lol i loved how the characters were stereotypical but i kind of got attached to them. final destination 3 on the other hand took me 3 days to watch i just couldn't connect with any of the characters besides wendys boyfriend and best friend who died at the beginning

Anyone else love horror but get anxiety & squeamish with gore/torture/sickness but also can’t get enough of the thriller/shock aspects of horror so you have to put yourself through the anxiety of watching the gross scenes😂

It was a shame that it had decent directors/actors but it just felt like an Asylum Studios knock off. The set pieces in the original were really impressive - and the sequel looked like it could have been shot in any hospital/morgue closed for the day.

Favorite sequel is definitely Hellbound: Hellraiser II. Best remake is Suspiria! As a Child's Play fan who has not seen the remake I kind of love all of the sequels except for the last two oddly enough.
Childs Play remake was......weird. His face was just so off. There are a couple parts that are shocking so its worth at least 1 view.
Spiral is actually directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who I believe directed Saw 2-4, which gives me a lot of hope for the new Saw! Saw 2-4 were actually my favorites in the series.

Howling II: Stirba - Werewolf Bitch - Absolutely freaking insane how absurd that movie is. Feels like 6-7 different movies fused together!
Wrong Turn 5: Bloodlines - After # 2 the Wrong Turn franchise became really silly, but this one was the absolute worst. Nothing made a tiny bit of sense here (and yet I still kinda enjoy it for it's mean-spirited cheesiness).
Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge - Mostly because it's sandwitched between two great ones.
Friday the 13th: A New Beginning - not for the reason most dislike it, but for the total lack of focus (these characters have NO purpose apart from dying) and poor continiuty. Ending made no sense either.
Sinister 2 - Bad idea to give those annoying ghost kids so much to do. It took away everything that made the firs work.

I actually liked the The Grudge (2020) 🤷🏾♂️. It's not perfect, but i definitely don't regret watching it. Btw I liked the first WiB, but I'm surprised people liked the first Woman in Black, cause I remember there being split opinions over it. I also preferred the Cabin Fever remake over the original lol. The original pissed me off cause it want what I thought it would be.
if you haven’t seen them, try creep and creep 2, they’re on netflix. it was the first time i thought a sequel was just as good as the first if not better, and they work together perfectly. they’re not hugely gory, they’re psychological, but i actually love them. mark dunlap is fantastic.
and i learned recently that almost the entire movies were improvised. they were given a bare bones script to work with - you’d literally never know that from watching because the cast are so good

Most horror films sequels mostly suck. To be honest in my opinion I like all the Saw films except for Jigaw. Final destination well my favorites are 1 and 3 especially the 3rd one. Hostel 2 sucks and American Pyscho doesn't exist to me..I do like the first two Insidious films though

The first Silent Hill movie was bad too but the second one was far worse. Perhaps I'd have liked it more if it weren't based on one of my favorite game series but the games have such cerebral plots and an abundance of symbolism with cryptic, sometimes esoteric story elements: the kind you need to read or watch videos about to fully appreciate. The movies just seemed like a sum of appearances from monsters and characters pulled from the game. One thing that annoyed me was Silent Hill 3 had a character named Vincent who was an crooked older male (40s maybe) priest that manipulates Heather (protagonist) for his own gain. Among other things he's meant to represent a vulnerable Heather's distrust for older men and their roles in her life. The movie turned him into a teenaged love interest which shows that they didn't understand his character to begin with. Play those games, especially Silent Hill 2 and 3. If you have a hard time going back to Playstation 2 or struggle with old school survival horror (they are somewhat difficult) then watch a video because the story is amazing and it's scarier than any movie.

I hate the Paranormal activity films. I dont know which one I went to see in theatres with my dad back then but I could tell he just wanted to leave and I regretted my decision on but in a ticket. Also I only love the first Human centipede. The second one made gag, sure it's very creepy but I didn't like it one bit. I was horrified by the last 20 minutes especially since I saw the directors cut.
All of these series where they go through the 3D phrase usually is around the time they lose me
The first one was legit disturbing and leaned more into the horror aspect. The second one was just so out there I stopped watching after the first 15-20 minutes, and the third one I didn't even bother. I still regret watching the first one, but at least I can honestly say it creeped me the hell out.

you should review The Platform! I liked it a lot and the concept was amazing, I wanted to know your thoughts on it since it has an allegorical meaning behind it and i thought about it for days after I watched it
As an older horror fan who was raised on 70s horror - the absolute worst sequel I've ever seen, horror or any other genre, is the fairly recent "I Spit On Your Grave - Deja Vu", set 40 years after the 70s original. The movie is an inept disgrace that contradicts almost everything from the first movie and has plot holes that you could drive a semi-truck through. Here's one example. The youngest of the villains is a bumbling bafoon in his 20s. After kidnapping Jennifer, main character from the first movie, he tells her "Johnny was like a brother to me". OK. Lets review. Johnny was one of the gang rapist from the first film set 40 year earlier (he was the one in the famous bathtub scene). This means that this new character would not even have been born yet when Jennifer went on her revenge spree, so it's impossible that ever would have met Johnny. What a mess - and 2 and a half hours of mess to plow through (the original was less than 90 mins.)
The Strangers: Prey at night is my least favorite sequel ever. The original scared me so much and I was so excited for the sequel, but there was literally nothing good about it lol

I’m the biggest Halloween fan ever but Halloween: Resurrection (2002) and Halloween II (2009 - Rob Zombie) just weren’t needed.
I don't thing being the "biggest Halloween fan" means you have to like any garbage they put out! I would think a die hard Halloween fan would like Resurrection and H2 even less because they are so far off from the original.
I mean I'm one of the biggest fans of T1 & T2, but I know the post T2 sequels are complete garbage. That doesn't mean I'm less of a Terminator fan, I just don't like bad Terminator movies that shit on the roots of the franchise.

The RZ Halloween remake wasn’t needed at all because Halloween is a great movie that didn’t need a remake.
Neither of the silent hill movies are loyal to the source material at all. What I will give the first Silent Hill movie is that while it's not following that script it at least give us that silent hill vibe we fans know and love and creates it's own story in the wake of it. Revelations was trying to be everything at once; it was trying to be a sequel to a silent hill movie not based off the game while also trying to follow the third game story while also changing things so that it answers questions of the first movie but not too much so we can see that this time it's staying loyal to the third game story. If Revelations had just continued as a sequel to the movie Silent hill it might have been better and not suddenly trying to give the fans what they want. Silent hill movies is a guilty pleasure of mine so while I hate it as a fan I love seeing my favorite game in movie form
